Great food at a decent price. The staff was very friendly and we got our food really fast. The onion rings and fries are homemade and the seafood was hand battered. Great find! So glad we tried it. :)

I’ll begin with something positive. Nice person greeted my daughter and myself at the counter. I typically go all the way to City Fish for fish and chips– I didn’t know we had a quick sea food place locally. After reading reviews here I was excited to try it. I ordered fish and chips. The batter was not completely cooked. The batter coating around the fish gave the appearance of a good portion but not the case. I used my fork to split the batter and search for the fish. My daughter said«Is there any fish in that?» I said«Yes, it takes some searching though.» The fries are very, very thin. When I used my fork to lift one up I saw quite a bit of cooking oil. I only see this when the fries are placed in oil that is not up to the proper temp. Suspect this is why the batter was not completely cooked. The coleslaw just didn’t taste like it was made today and it had little to no mayo or any sauce to speak of. My daughter got a «bowl.» of the Lobster Bisque. I was so glad I asked to see the size of the«cup» vs «bowl» because the cup looked like the kind of container used to put your Ketchup in and bring it over to your table. Not much larger then a fifty cent piece in width it seemed. I read there was lots of lobster in the bisque. My daughter had one chunk. That’s it. I asked to try it. It tasted diluted. I couldn’t taste any flavor over my own food. You can buy a quart of fantastic lobster bisque at Stew Leonards for 7.99. On our way out, another woman wished a good night. Very disappointed, but on the positive side, my stomach will be empty and ready for my antibiotics in a couple hours. I’ll continue to go to Stew Leonards for their bisque and drive all the way to City fish for the fish and chips. :(

For what you get, the prices are stupid high. Food was so so, one step over Mc Ds. Disappointing. Very expansive menu, I may have caught them Ina bad day.

Get the lobster bisque as an entrée because it is filled with large chucks of lobster and very tasty

Lobster Roll review 3.5: my first time trying one, wish it was by the shore but this is the closest I’m getting for work lunch. Price: At $ 13.xx did not make sense for the amount and size of my lobster roll. Appearance: it was a tasty snack. Taste: buttery toast roll, lobster was really good, wish I had more in quantity. Regrets: Should not have brought it

Was in last night after work. Even though I’ve worked in Wallingford for 11 of the past 12 years(lived along the AL/TN border in 2014), I had never stopped into the Captain Seas Restaurant before. Spotted the sign outside claiming the best clam strips around as I walked in. So that’s what I ordered, the fried clam strips dinner. Meal came out incredibly fast, I believe I had overheard the cook in the back saying to give these clam strips to me instead of another customer. Generous portion of fried clams, they were alright, but I admit, I usually order scallops or fish at a seafood place(but like I said above, the sign«got me»). Coleslaw and fresh cut fries were OK also. Basically a fairly standard seafood meal last night at the Captain Seas Restaurant. If I came back again though, would order a different seafood selection.

Prices were fair however not going back. Service was slow. Server brought wrong meal. Another customer waited over 15 minutes for their meal. And I got sick from the fried seafood I ate.

Son and I being seafood junkies decided to try it and we love it. Good size portions at decent prices and the owners are super friendly and make you feel comfortable. Ignore the décor and just focus on the fresh food. Whole bellies were sweet and not greasy. Clam strip platter was huge and tasty. Cole slaw home made. We are definitely coming back!

Food was alright, nothing special to rave about though. I had the fried clams and thought that they were very bland and lacking flavor in the batter. I also had a hot dog with the works, it was pretty good, a little greasy and the bun was sort of soggy. Probably wouldn’t go back any time soon

Dogs and fried clams have always been good. Family owned and the people there are always nice and willing to please. The atmosphere is dated, but this place is a typical dog/burgers/seafood place. Fried whole clams were fresh and tasty.

Fries are really good and fresh cut — but the ice tea was made in front of me out of powdered 4C purchased at the grocery store. My fried shrimp was decent, but my coleslaw was literally dry. It was very hit and miss. It’s clearly a family runned joint and I usually give a break for that, I don’t expect the place to be high end and the fanciest of dining spaces — but this place could seriously benefit from a fresh coat of paint and a degreasing. I understand they need to make a buck, I do, but charging for ice tea that was made from a pre made mix turned me off from justifying some of their short comings. The young girls working there could care less but weren’t rude either, I dealt with four different people to order lobster bisque and a fried shrimp platter because one was eating, the other was texting and another girl had to run outside to see if she won a raffle at the car show? It was bizarre. Anyways. I don’t really know how else to condense this review. It’s not the worst, not the best. It’s better seafood than Chilis down the road but worse than shoreline flagships. Yeah.

Alright, so if you’ve never been here, you definitely have to get here. Don’t be turned off by their appearance — which seems to be something out of the 1950s, or the fact that it appears it should be placed somewhere alongside the beach or something. Looks can be deceiving. I go to Captain at least once every six weeks. I normally get a gyro, or a cheese steak. While the cheesesteak kind of lacks, the gyros have ALWAYS been the best I have had while in CT. The fries are also great coupled with the fact I can order a side of melted cheese to go with them. Foodwise, I am never disappointed in the taste, and everything has been fresh. Quantity wise, sometimes I am tempted to ask: «Do they make this cheesesteak for adults?» Nevertheless I have not been let down coming here which has exceeded +30 times since 2007

This used to be a pretty ok place. Totally disappointed tonight. The shakes were half the size they normally are. They used to come in a large cup but this time in a small. The onion on my burger was thicker then my burger. The Chicken Orzo Soup had only one very large dry over boiled piece of chicken in it. The fries were soggy. The place is filthy and the service mediocre. Thumbs down tonight!

The people are really friendly and nice but all the seafood is deep fried and very unhealthy. The cole slaw was good.

I have passed by this place for about 7 years and never gave it a second look. I finally tried it because I took my lady up to CT to see the family and this was the best local place according to Unilocal. At first we were skeptical due to the setting — the setting looked more like a run-down diner than a place that would look like a 4-star restaurant. But what the restaurant lacked in appearance more than made up fo in the quality of the food. The food was very fresh(we had the breaded clams, shrimp and calamari), and it was tasty. The cole slaw was good also, and we had the lobster bisque and the clam chowder. They were not best bisque and chowder we’ve ever had(I reserve that for a place nearby Washington D.C.), but were very good. I would recommend this to anyone looking for seafood and just passing by in general.

I made my husband drive out to Wallingford because it was our anniversary and I wanted to get him fried clam strips(his favorite). It was better than driving out to the shore and less pricey than some other places I looked into. Pros: 1) All the seafood tasted fresh and weren’t over-battered(we had fried clam strips and a sole sandwich.) 2) Onion rings were lightly battered and tasty! You could really taste the onion(which I love.) 3) Fried zucchini! 4) Plenty of other options if you don’t want seafood 5) Everything was really clean. They did a good job of cleaning up the place. Cons: 1) One bathroom 2) The parking lot is kinda on the small side, and we went on a Thursday when they have Car Cruisers so there were only 8 spots available. We had to park across the street. 3) It’s not a fancy or romantic place. It’s not really a con, just an FYI. It’s more of your mom and pop diner. Casual dining.
