I find it hard to give it one star. The food is okay but the service is terrible. The attitude is we need them. Good luck with that.

Fan of the food!!! Service can be sketchy at times. No…“may I help you”… more of a «What do you want?» SMH… The last time I went the green sauce was TOO salty even for me. I meant to call back to alert them.

I had just spent a few hours reading and researching in Books-A-Million and since it was raining & I was hungry I decided to try Chicken Rico, which is located only a few feet away. I’ve passed the spot many times driving down 301 and if memory serves me I’d also heard someone mention it a time or two in passing. On a Sunday evening there weren’t many patrons inside… I’d say 3 or 4 customers. I waited a few minutes before it was my turn to order. Now I don’t claim to speak or read fluent Español and as I was struggling a bit to pronounce the name of a dish I wanted(chicken with rice & mashed potatoes, minus the French Fries) the attendant immediately garnered an attitude with me. Maybe I was frustrating her or taking too long, but her impatience in a nearly empty restaurant didn’t sit too well with me. Once I had ordered she gave me a number and told me to pay up front at the register. After I paid, I waited about 10 minutes before my food was ready. The sweet young man that works there was kind enough to bring it over to me. When I arrived home I was disappointed with my choice. My chicken & rice were dry(even after pouring the delicious sauces on top) and the mashed potatoes were runny. I tossed over half of it in the trash. Waku Chicken, which is right up the road in Brandywine is better, by leaps and bounds. Maybe I was there on an off day, but considering I know where to find better, consistent Peruvian food, this place has already been forgotten.

Always wanted to try this place, tonight we finally did. The chicken was exceptional! Very well seasoned, meat was tender and skin was crispy. Split a whole chicken between me and my husband. Affordable, filling, and delicious. The fried plantains were a unique side and scrumptious. Will definitely stop in again!

Awesome food, awesome service in and out under 5 mins. Nothing to complain about. It’s not expensive and feeds a family of 5 under $ 40. One of my favorite go to spots in Waldorf.

Used to love it hear but the quality has really decreased or could it be that I’m now a Sardis fan. My last visit hear determined that I will always make the drive to Capitol heights and eat at Sardis. Yeah, the lines are long and it’s a 25 minute drive but it’s so worth it especially for their Gyro. Overall their chicken is more flavorful not to mention the great sides. Sorry Chicken Rico gotta say farewell!

Tried ¼ chicken(white meat), white rice, spicy rice, black beans and fried plantain. Very good. Not fancy(disposable forks and plates). Will be back soon.

Their food is outstanding! Always fresh, always cooked just right and very tasty. I’ve been here several times and highly recommend to anyone. The ambiance is family oriented with nice Latin music.

This place is good simply because it’s the only one in Waldorf. I personally prefer the chicken better in the spots in Virginia. However, their sides are pretty good and their chicken is decent as a change from the usual Waldorf eateries. I went there 3 days in a row and was becoming a regular customer until today when one of the servers got an attitude and rolled his eyes at me when I happened to ask him for more rice for the rice and beans. I got annoyed and didn’t feel like debating so I just rolled my eyes back at him, told him that’s okay, and left. I was getting ready to spend about $ 15 on that meal because I was going to get a large pasta salad on the side for the first time in addition to the half chicken. But a few extra grains of rice made them lose a customer. I won’t be back there no time soon. It’s not like I was drooling over the chicken anyway. What is it with these chicken places and their customer service. First of all, it’s Spanish. not Hungarian. It’s not hard to figure out… and we all took it in school. Think about that before you start trying to talk about your customers in Spanish. And Second, you’re a minority too. Learn to treat other minorities with respect. especially minority Customers.

I like this restaurant. Their food is pretty good and the servings are enough to take home and finish if your tummy is too small to eat so much :-D

Love love love this place!!! Inexpensive, good food, good sized portions! Salchipapas not as good as the ones I make at home, but definitely good.

Passing thru omw back to Ga and decided to try the Peruvian rotisserie chicken craze that has become so popular. I tried the ½ white and it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Nicely seasoned. I liked dipping it in the jalapeño based hot sauce. The spicy rice and black beans were spot on. The yucca and plantains were kinda dry and meh. I enjoyed the meal that was around $ 10 but probably should have gotten the ¼ meal bc it was a lot of food for a lunch. I was ready for a siesta after eating all that food. I will stop again when in the area.

First time trying them out and was impressed with the taste and portions of sides. I had the ¼ chicken white. Also the young lady at the the counter was pleasant and let me sample a side before ordering. The only negative was dining in because of the sun. They need some shades or tint because the sun shines directly in your face at the tables. I had to move and although it was better than sitting by the window, it was still hard to enjoy the food while shielding your face.

Plenty of seats and good quick food. Stopped here for lunch and there was no line and I was eating in 2 minutes. I am a fan of the crispier skin like this location. All Peruvian chicken spots are not created equal. For my 1st this sis in my list of the better group. My recommendation is ready all you can add is not the same the next day. The crisp on the chicken is gone. Flavor still there. The vegis were over cooked. The one with the broccoli and coli flower. Wasn’t a fan at all.

There comes a time when you are put in a position to try something new even though you already know what you’re in for. Another boring piece of chicken. Well, tonight was not boring. Friends hit me up and asked me to grab a bite with them. Sure! Where are we going. Chicken Rico. Oh. Umm. Ok I guess. Where is that? They got there ahead of me. When asked what I would like, whatever you guys get. The Carne Asada was like butter. Tender. Flavorful. Green beans cooked just right. Mashed potatoes were good too. Impressive. The only down side that I could complain about. The building needs a little maintenance. Electrical needs a peep because the flickering light over my head and the light in the entrance were very distracting. All in all a good spot. Looking forward to trying other menu items soon.

I don’t know a thing about Peruvian chicken, thus the reason for stopping in. I’ve been eye balling the place when I drive by and had checked out the reviews. It was finally time. Omg… I would be 10lbs heavier had I discovered this place sooner. We got the half chicken with plantains and the Carne asada with plantains and cucumber salad. The flavor of the chicken was lick your fingers delicious. The plantains(one of my favorite dishes) were perfectly done. The carne asada had great flavor but if I had to choose I would definitely go for the chicken. The cucumber salad was just that, cucumber salad. No dressing, no frills… ehhh. Not that the chicken needed any help but do yourself a favor and mix the spicy green sauce with the milder yellow sauce for just that extra goodness!

I love Peruvian chicken. With that said, Chicken Rico provides its patrons with intensely flavorful chicken, that has the crispiest skin. The yucca is light and perfectly fried. Black beans are perfectly seasoned and go well with rice. Last night I tried their dessert special, the Sweet Potato Cake. Let me just say it was the definition of decadence. It was moist, like a rum cake(which they also offer!), it had a beautiful light orange color, and had swirls of icing piped on the top(maybe butter cream?). I could only eat half of it after indulging in the fine chicken entrée(and I did not want the cake to be over just yet!). If you’re a fan of chicken and want to support a local business in Charles County(where it seems chain restaurants dominate), I highly recommend Chicken Rico! :)

First stop at Chicken Rico, and I have to say I will be stopping again for sure when in the area. On our vist we had the ½ chicken with a side of mashed potatos and beans. Everything was really flavorfull, and delicious. As far as fast food style places go this is top notch, and a must stop while driving through Waldorf. If you want some great chicken at a great price look no further than Chicken Rico!
