My Mom lives in the area and we have both been making an effort to support indie bookstores.(me more so than she I use the library a fair amount but must admit I have bought from Amazon in the past) The few times we have visited I haven’t bought anything but I have always noted the staff is really helpful. They also have a lot of gift type items in case you might be looking for something that isn’t a book. Before Christmas I called to see about buying a gift certificate and they took care of it(sending it to me in Brooklyn so it could stay secret from Mom) If they don’t have a title you are looking for I am sure they would be happy to get it for you.

Passionate associate helped us find summer reading for our son. Would be nice to carry magazines.

As a book lover, I always look for independent bookstores where ever I happen to be. While vacationing in Narragansett, RI, I came across Wakefield Bookstore and it was very close. The bookstore was very easy to find — it happens to be inside a mall/shopping center. It is quite large and has a great selection of genres of books. I was looking for a specific non-fiction biography and I asked for help. The associate that helped me was very nice, friendly, and helped me to find the book I was looking for. They had the book and I was very pleased. I continued to walk around and found a few more books. The store is organized and very easy to find anything you might need. I highly recommend stopping by this bookstore if you are in the area. Very helpful employees, huge selection of books, and very organized!
