I own a hardware store in the next town. These folks are a treasure. A hidden diamond. I have a great selection of fasteners in my store but when people people need real strange metric Metric Screw gets the call

This review is another one of my million ‘should be reviewed’ that are looong overdue. This place has been saving my ass since, well, forever. Ever since I could hold a wrench I’ve been a hobby mechanic. As a backyard wrench, I can say that this place is THE place to go if you need anything metric. Fortunately, I grew up in the city next to this place and I used take it for granted… I thought there were places like this everywhere… until I realized that they were an anomaly. Anytime I broke a bolt, stripped some threads, lost a nut, etc… they’ve been there to save the day, and my sanity. More than a few times I’d be left without my car or motorcycle if it wasn’t for them. My most recent fun, and the thing that spurred me to write this, was a weekend car project. The factory had hammered in a bolt to my brake caliper, mangling the threads and bolt. I called dealerships looking for said bolt… and of course, none of them had what I needed. Then I remembered my friends at MSTco! I walked in, told the guy what I needed, handed him a piece of the bolt, and he said«oh ya, no problem.» A couple minutes later he comes back with a couple different bolts of varying strength ratings. I grabbed the beefy one, and a re-threading kit, all for around $ 10. Ran home, slapped it back together, torqued it down, and problem solved. If it wasn’t for them… once again I would have been without a car, for at least a day. They are the BEST arrrrooouuund, nothing’s ever gonna keep them down!

After hunting all over Boston for some metric coupler nuts to use with my bike fenders, I finally got pointed to Wakefield — Metric Screw & Tool Co. to be specific. After getting blank stares at every hardware store in the Cambridge/Somerville/Watertown/Arlington area, talking with the fella at MS&TC was refreshing. I told him what I was looking for, and he immediately: a) knew what I was talking about, and b) knew they had it. Then I asked if they were open to the public, and he reassured me that if I was a cash-carrying member of society, I was welcome. When I arrived, I was a little unorganized and scatterbrained(still in shock that someone actually had the things I was looking for). The guy behind the counter wasn’t overly friendly, but he was able to retrieve every single thing I rattled off from the back room in 30 seconds or less. When I was done, I had a handful of metric nuts, bolts, washers and specialty hardware — and my total was less than $ 3. Metric Screw & Tool Co. for life.
