Great section of the Raleigh greenway trail system. It starts up by the neuse river damn area and runs about 8 miles out(it should be expanded in the near future). The trail follows the stream the whole way down, pretty much, so it keeps it nice and cool in the summertime for those longer runs. Also, lots of shade from the trees and the path itself is well maintained/cleared. They have a few trashcans along the way but no water fountains or rest rooms which can be a bit of a negative depending on how far out you are going. Also, it is a little hilly but not too much so imo

Best trail in North Raleigh!!! There are many entrances to this trail via on Falls of the Neuse, Bedford, Perry Creek, and now Burlington Mills Rd. in Wake Forest. Parking is great at the trailhead on Falls of Neuse, and the trail for now, starts there at the bridge. Once you start the greenway trail, you can go 8 miles, to Perry Creek. This trail begins at the Falls Lake Dam and will extend along the river to the Wake County line, a distance of 28 miles. It is rumored to also continue out to Johnston County and inevitably to be a part of a mountains to coast trail, which will be amazing! The trail goes along the Neuse River and is mostly shaded, and surrounded by trees and nature all around. You really feel like you are taking a step out of Raleigh when on this trail. Mostly flat, there are some hills along the way but for the most part, it is a pretty good trail if you are jogging or getting a good workout in. Also, it is dog friendly and often you will cross other dog owners and bikers along the way. A paved path, it also is equipped with wooden bridges and side paths to the neighboring residential areas. The river is used for small boating, tubing, and fishing, although be warned, check water levels before going tubing. It can get sort of dicey in high water conditions. Also, in the middle of the summer, the heat and humidity can give the river a nasty smell. I don’t even want to know what it is and can only assume this is normal for small rivers areas like this one. Super great place to get some exercise, breathe, and get your mind off of things without having to travel too far for us Wake Forest residents!

Dam, Bridges, River, Trail! This is an OK Greenway and Trail! We saw Turtles, Lizards, Runners and A few people on Bikes! People were fishing and a Ranger was catching them! Today it was Cool see this Flood of River Water plowing over trees and some kids on some kind of float traveling fast down the River! The Water had some kind of debris floating and swirling on top, looked foamy-filthy!

Great place to run, fish, hike, skate board, walk, play, bike, and just have fun. This trail connects all the way down to crabtree, and out to Knightdale. I don’t know how many miles this trail is going to be when it is done, but I have heard over 30 miles. I go here 3 to 4 days a week to run, there is never many people here so no worries about being run into by others. Here is the web site to get more info about this trail Look for the Neuse River Trail map on the right side of this web page
