OMG! For those of you who are looking for Malia. She is now at Salon Andre in Mililani. I’ve already made an appointment for a haircut.

I got my hair cut here today. I have extremely curly and frizzy hair that could usually pose my stylist some trouble. I usually go to Supercuts and leave disappointed.
Today my stylist was Sam and she was amazing. She talked me through the entire process, giving me tips and recommending products. She was extremely personable, and definitely knew what she was doing. She was friendly, and earned herself a returning customers! She listened to what I wanted and delivered 110%.
Wash, cut, and blow dry for $ 40. Including an amazing mini-​massage!
I’m impressed with the full service Paul Brown provides and will not be going anywhere else to do my hair.

Just got a mini facial from Carmen while the wife was getting her faux hawk trimmed up… Carmen was so nice and knew a lot about my grossly clogged pores. Id come back to keep caverns called pores clear from congestion! Thanks Carmen!

I got a super cute cut from Sam! She fixed a botched haircut I had gotten from a different salon. Great service and atmosphere! I will definitely return! Awesome military discount on Mondays and Tuesdays.

I went to this salon a few years back. Didn’t like the service of the hairdresser so I just never returned.
Fast forward to a few years later, when I decided to give it a try since it’s convenient for me. I was hesitant on writing this review because the stylist was very nice. However… I asked for a hair cut that wouldn’t be too short, explaining that I don’t like to look «too young». And I also asked for long layers in the back, because I don’t like that «overly layered» look and everything is sticking up and bushy. Well, after completion, I was «ok» with the hair. Sometimes you don’t really have a choice when it’s already been done. My hair is a lot shorter than expected (Sits right on my shoulders and i was expecting a little higher than bra strap), and i have layers in my hair in the back that are higher than my ears. YIKES. that does not sound like LONG layers. Also, when i put my hair up in a simple pony tail, it doesn’t flow together. I have hairs sticking up, long hairs hanging, and other hairs different lengths. It honestly looks like someone chopped my hair in two different lengths since it doesn’t flow together (when in a pony). I’ve been hiding my hair in a bun… well… half bun because it’s way too short. Not to mention, everytime I put my hair down, there was one part that was longer than the other that I had to trim myself, bc it was obviously missed. Nice hairstylist… but now I’m contemplating of having to get expensive extensions. =/​I did enjoy the hair wash though. :)

I recently moved back to Hawaii and needed to find a new hair stylist. Looked on Unilocal and Paul Brown salon popped up. Let’s me tell you Malia was great! She’s friendly and did a great job on my color and cut.

Summer is bomb dot com! Will definitely be coming back to see her! I have extremely long, fast growing hair. I went in today with my hair a frizzy, tangled, long (past my butt), mess! Seriously, long hair + humid hot weather=bush lady. From the get go, she was super friendly. Got shampooed, conditioned, a little scalp massage (oh my lanta, felt great!), then say down to start the process of getting rid of dead ends.
I stressed that I wanted to keep the length of my hair as much as possible but get rid of my dead ends, get layered and get bangs.
I felt so bad cause my hair, was a mess! But Summer was so patient and understanding from beginning to end. She was amazing! The end result… Looked fantastic! I’m so happy with the result and so stoked with how it looks. I just had a baby so while I can’t make the baby weight drop any faster, nothing makes a girl feel better than a new hairdo. So thank you Summer for being awesome and making this new mama feel a little bit prettier.

David is awesome!!! He is such a perfectionist and you’ll have the best hair ever. He’s professional and is such a nice and amazing stylist. I recommend that you call for an appointment in a month in advance… Most highly asked stylist!!!

You gotta see DAVID ! He’s the best. He cut and colored my LONG hair! It took 7 hours and was definitely worth it! He’s awesome !

This review is looong overdue!
I started coming here because my bestie is now a stylist at this location.
(I have been seeing her for my hair cuts since she was at the Ward location)
Before I get carried away, let me talk about the rest of the place (as much as I can remember) and other stuff.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the price range is less than you’d find at the Ward location. That’s a plus for those of you that want great quality service without having to dish out an arm and a leg.
The parking is. well, crowded. This place is located in Waikele. Any of you that goes to Waikele knows how packed it can get so that is not this store’s fault at all.
OK OK OK time to talk about my favorite part; my stylist/​bestie
Her name is Summer K. She started at this location last August. She’s really good at what she does. She follows directions very well. She really pays attention to the detail in her work.
As long as she’s working there, this is where I will be getting my hair cuts from :)

David is awesome! I have a ton of hair and he cut and colored it to perfection! I highly recommend him, he is awesome. And I am super picky about my hair!

This is my first Unilocal review ever, and I was inspired by the service at the Paul Brown in Waikele to start a profile just to review them! I went into the salon this morning with hair that had been stained a yellowish-​green color by some semi-​permanent dye (it was originally a nice purple) that i’ve been trying to wash out of my hair for a few months. I had an appointment with David Wong, and he totally worked a miracle on my hair! He removed all the green tones, and colored my hair a beautiful blonde ombré, and also cut and styled my hair to perfection. He, along with the other staff I had the pleasure of chatting with, were so nice. I definitely recommend Paul Brown Waikele (and it’s another plus that the outlets are so nearby haha!).

5 stars for eyebrow waxing by either Carmen or Jamie. They both take the time to actually educate you on brow care. Both are sincere and passionate about what they do.

she is absolutely AMAZING! I have odd eyebrows and have had many many many ppl wax them over the years, from nail salons to 4star spas and hands down without question Carie was my best experience!
Most people either make them too thin to get an arch or end up waxing them nearly straight to keep them from being too thin, but Carie gave me an arch and totally kept the necessary hair :) hands down ladies!!! You can’t go wrong with her!

THE 411: I paid $ 70 for THIS???

I never attended beauty school, but ever since I was 5, I’ve had a haircut at many many MANY upscale salons across the U.S. (possibly hundreds), so I think I know a thing or two about hair. That being said, I recently started searching for a new stylist, and thought about trying Paul Brown Waikele because it’s closer to where I now live.
However, I felt like this salon does not live up to the true Paul Brown standard (which has declined at all of their salons as of late). This review would have been 1 star, but thanks to the receptionist, it did not have to come to that. Basically, she was amazing. I walked from the outlet mall, and the humid weather made me break a little bit of sweat by the time I arrived. The receptionist noticed this, and offered me water (more than once) to make me feel comfortable. I sincerely appreciated that… +1 star.
Joey (the stylist) called me to his chair and I showed him a picture of what I wanted. I gave him a detailed explanation of my hair’s natural tendencies, texture, etc. and he went to work. Now some things about my experience:
1.) I carried a shopping bag that day and set it down next to me during the initial consultation. He started working, and 5 minutes later there were clumps of hair all over it. My fault for forgetting to put it farther away of course, but shouldn’t the stylist be cognizant of this as well? Usually they offer to put your bag/​purse on a chair or counter nearby… Not on the ground. :/​
2.) I didn’t receive a shampoo or massage. ??? He told me I didn’t need it. If I’m paying $ 70 for you to cut my hair, I think a shampooing (at the very least) is in order.
3.) My hair looks poorly cut. Shorter cuts require a lot more attention and skill than longer cuts, because even the smallest mistakes are plainly visible. The line where he buzzed my head is noticeably crooked. He also cut the back too short, so now I have a cow lick there, which makes me look like I just woke up. On the sides and front, there are long strands of hair sticking out when I try to style it. That brings me to my next point…
4.) My hair looked like an oily, rat’s nest after he styled it. There was way too much product in it (probably an attempt made to hide the flyaways… to no avail). I was so done.
Sure, I am very particular about my hair. And I tried to voice my concerns as they came to mind in the nicest way possible, but I sensed some attitude when I did so. I didn’t want to make him angry or cause a scene, so I just sat there smiling like a fool… but wailing like a baby inside.
Maybe they have better stylists, but I most definitely will not return to Paul Brown Waikele for a while (possibly ever).

I’ve been contemplating going to this place since I really wasn’t sure of going. I’ve had my hair done at pretty high end places so I was a bit hesitant since I don’t know much about Paul Brown. I had my hair done a whileee ago at the Ward location and it turned out great.
I think the best part of this was the receptionists. They were super friendly and struck conversation while I was waiting for an appointment that I had booked.
I’m not sure what my hair stylist’s name was as we barely talked. I’m not even sure if she even wanted to do my hair. When I made an appointment earlier, I asked one down from the senior specialists so I think I paid about $ 60? Maybe 50… not quite sure. But it was … it was okay. I asked for two inches off… and for some reason ended up with like 6 inches AT LEAST… but I did need a cut that’s for sure… I had a bunch of split ends.
Parking isn’t easy in Waikele… but there was barely any wait so that was good. Plus I knew the price and there were no extra charges…
Its A-​OK… which is why I put three stars. I’ve had better but I can see why some people would like this place. In and out, convenient, affordable, and good haircut.

So after getting my hair butchered at another salon (See my previous review), I needed to get my hair fixed pronto and figured I go back to a salon that never failed me before. I used to get services done at this salon but after moving to Kaneohe, it became a bit of a drive.
When I arrived the receptionist blatantly ignored me, which didn’t bother me because this had happened before here and I was expecting it. After standing in front of the check in desk for about a full 2 minutes she told me to sit. As I looked around I noticed the place was pretty dusty and the salon chairs were showing signs of wear but the salon has been around for years, these things happen.
About 15 minutes after my appt time the receptionist told me «go change.» I told her I didn’t know where to go so she frustratingly walked me to the back where there was a changing room, instructed me to «change out of your top,» and told me I could use any of the hangers to hang my clothes. Then she walked away. I was completely confused and ended up changing out of my shirt and into one of two white button down shirts that were hanging on the rack. (The only other clothes on the rack was a sweater that looked like it belonged to another client.)

I don’t know the name of the male stylist who works next to the changing room, but bless his heart, he caught be about to walk back to the reception area and told me to change into the black smocks that were rolled up and hanging in a shoe organizer. He even pointed them out and to not embarrass me he said «it happens all the time.»
On to my haircut. Megan listened patiently as I showed her my botched hair and reassured me she could fix it. She gave an awesome scalp massage during my shampoo. She made my crooked hair straight, cut in a soft layer, and fixed my bangs. Apparently she fixes a lot of botched cuts & color jobs. Not a major overhaul but I definitely felt better about myself. Megan also did my color and styled my hair for my engagement photos about 2 years ago which I posted.
I’ll probably go back again to see Megan but I think the ENTIRE experience should be pleasant. If you can get over the unwelcoming check-​in, you’ll walk out with fabulous hair!

My review is for Carie, the waxing specialist… I’m not sure that is what they are called. But I am like a TOTALLY new person! I was referred to her from my best friend, Keri… telling me that Carie is wonderful. She is.
Ok, so i wish I had taken before and after photos. Cause I had some non-​girly bushy eyebrows. Not like tooo bushy that I had unibrow, uck, but thicker. Basically I told her, «make me look pretty»
And about 5 minutes later, my face looked so different! She thinned my brows and gave it an arch. Now I just gotta learn how to use the brow pencil to fill in. :)
When I went to work the next day, the change of my face was highly noticeable and I got plenty of compliments on the brows (all from girls of course) but I also feel a lot «prettier» in the face.
I cannot wait for the next waxing appointment because Carie is my girl now! And Waikele is only 10 minutes from my house. :)

She gives the BEST shampoo and head massage, and takes her time. I wish I could go in every week, nice way to end the day. The blow dry came out better than I anticipated, and she gave me more than what I asked for, if you can see the picture, words cannot express her magic.
