Huge improvement since new management! Went for brunch on Valentine’s Day. Our table shared an Eggs Benedict with kabocha squash and a kalua pork & cabbage crepes plate – both dishes were nuanced in flavor, delicious, and obviously made from scratch – not something expected in most park lodges.(We also saw some stuffed French toast on its way to another table that looked awfully tasty.) It was an added bonus that the coffee at the self-serve beverage bar was also good. Also appreciate that they no longer serve on paper plates. Plan to return to try the bean soup and that coconut pie raved about by other reviewers.

We just had lunch at the Lodge. It was fantastic. The food is top quality and the service is outstanding. We felt like we were having lunch with family the way we were welcomed and served. I would eat there all the time except you have to drive up Waimea canyon road to get there. If there strawberry cream cheese crepes are on the specials menu, I highly recommend them.

Just stopped by to try their coconut pie. It was served warm with whipped cream topping. Very different than the cream type coconut pies I have had in the past. More like delicious shreds of real baked coconut. I would say it was extremely delicious and I will certainly stop by again on my next trip to Waimea canyon for, another slice.

Everyone rants about the Portuguese Bean Soup and Corn Bread. Well, let me add my two cents and agree with them. They are both very good, making them worthwhile getting. Service was a bit slow, but not being her fault as she was working both the dining room and the banquet room alone. Despite the heavy work load our server was still friendly and helpful. What ever she is being paid it is not enough.

We ate breakfast and got lunch to-go as well as stated at Maille Cabin at the Lodge at Kokee. The breakfast is very basic with a good hot chocolate, decent pancakes and bacon, okay pulled pork sandwiches with a measly side of pineapple. No decaf coffee available. Food was not special and a bit pricey, although I do highly recommend the coconut pie! The cabins are very basic and not well taken care of. The kitchen and bathroom was sufficient. Wood stove and oven had some damage and wood was $ 15(expensive!) but kept us warm most of the night, a relief after camping. Comfortable enough but a few small details in upkeep such as shades to minimize the glare of florescent lights would make this place much nicer.

We just visited the restaurant at Kokee Lodge, so I can’t speak to the lodgings. But the restaurant is a nice place for lunch, we all were pleased with the food(tip: the Kalua Pork Sandwich is excellent!). Nice stopping point after winding your way up the Waimea Canyon drive. The museum is next door and if you are going hiking it’s an excellent place to ask questions and get tips. Amazingly, even several thousand feet up here, the place is loaded with roosters!
