I’ve only had the spicy ahi poke. It’s not worth the drive to Waimanalo. Ahi was fresh, but their spicy ahi poke was watery and lacked spicy and flavor. Very disappointed.

Smells like a***. Just walked, and walked out. No fish market is suppose to smell like that.

Great place to stop at on the way to the beach. It’s located in a little shopping center with parking. The ladies were really nice and super helpful. They also let me try some of the poke before I bought it. I had the spicy ahi and the ahi shoyu. Both were very good and reasonably priced(around $ 12/pound). I also had the cucumber kim chee, it was very good. I still think the best poke on the island is at Kahuku Superette, but this place is convenient and good.

I’m a bit disappointed in this place. I’d definitely go to Foodland from now on if I wanted any poke. They don’t really have a great selection here and on top of that their fish doesn’t seem really fresh. I wouldn’t bother coming here and drive out an extra few miles to go to Foodland.

The ladies at TT were super friendly and welcoming. It’s always a let down if nice people sell so-so food. Well, let me tell ya. Nothing so-so about this place! We tried almost everything. It’s 100% fresh and equally delicious. We got an ahi bowl, crab, and fish cakes. Should you happen to be traveling around Oahu looking for little places off the beaten path, go here.

Needed to satisfy my poke craving post Lanikai and pre Waimanalo beach visits. Found Tersty Treats through Unilocal and wasn’t disappointed. Tried the shoyu ahi, spicy tako and another ahi concoction whose name I don’t remember because the other two were my favs. Deliciously fresh! As a comparison, I tried the shoyu ahi poki from the Foodland in Kailua two days later and the consistency was mushier and who knows how long it was sitting in the shoyu because the sauce had all soaked up into the ahi. At Tersty Treats the sauce is added to the container right after serving. Not soggy or overwhelming. Walked next door to pair the poke with some Maui onion chips and a six pack of beer and headed to the beach. Craving fulfilled.

Came here at 10am to pick up some food to bring to the beach. They don’t make any hot food until«later» so expect to only buy poke at this hour. Lady at the counter was very unpleasant.

Got a pound of the ahi limu poke. Very tasty! The mussels poke was great, too. Also got some salt meat to try just because. Ladies were sweet and helpful. They even have kalbi marinating. Good spot if you’re staying at Bellows.

Service: Smiles, fast, very eager to let you try anything. A+ keep up the good work Food: Outstanding spicy poke bowls and for, what, 9 $? How can you go wrong? You can’t. Location: Little hole in the wall which is good in the sense that the overhead must be low– hence the 9 $ poke. Small place– buy the food and take it home. Overall: A must stop if your near waimanalo

One of Waimanalo’s best-kept secrets! Seriously though… they do poke right. Thankfully I work across the street and go here at least once a week. These are my poke must haves: *Ahi w/limu: perfect blend of salt, limu & onions SO. ONO. *Kim Chee Tako: sweet, smoky and just enough spice *Aku w/kohu(when available): limu kohu is a burst of onolicious-ness in your mouth *Lomi Ahi(when available) *Pickled Onions: perfect combo of sweet, spciy and vinegar-y *Fried Ahi Belly: omg… I can’t… #icant And last, but certainly not least, two words: FISH. PATTIES. Hands down the best fish patties I’ve EVER had. ESPECIALLY if you can get them fresh out of the pan! Mostly made with ahi, sometimes made with salmon, ALWAYS amazing! They also do old school stuff you can’t always find in other fish markets like Aku Palu and Ake. They also sell roast pork, char siu, laulau, pastele and marinated meats.

Was on the way to a beach house for a couple of days and stopped by for some pulutan. A simple mom and pop shop with all the makings. The poke is a little more pricier than your regular Foodland poke, but I believe it’s locally caught. Has to be the freshest poke so far. You could taste the difference. Picked up an elbow of each. Kimchi crab, ahi limu poke, shoyu poke w/onions, roasted heaven, and ready sauced kalbi for the Weber. We sampled the roasted heaven at the store. The only thing missing was the Mang Thomas roast sauce. Other than that, RUBTHATSHITALLOVERMYBODAY! There was just enough fat on each morsel that I inhaled. And the crispy skin? FORGETABOUTIT! This alone will satisfy the tabatchoy in you. The Kalbi was next on the menu. Soon after our arrival, we had the Weber started. The kalbi cooked fast and was gone in an instant. Very sweet marinade. It caramelized very quickly and tasted like candy on a bone. Will be getting more on the morrow. Eat the kimchi crab asap before it goes bad. Like all kimchi crab, be ready to get messy. Not too sweet. Not too rancid. Just Right. Quality is what I feel from this spot. I’m glad this was on the way to our destination. I look forward to supporting this local establishment in the future. EYELIKACHUPEOPLES!!!

In a word — YUM! On our recent trip to Oahu, the BF and I made a point of seeking out local flavors and the«hole in the wall»(HITW) establishments that know how to do it right. We happened upon Tersty Treats, and it proved to be the hands-down-best-spot for poke. In true HITW fashion, Tersty Treats is little more than a tiny corner store in a strip mall that you’ll surely miss if not paying close attention. I’m sure you can eat there, but it seems like a place where you simply grab-n-go. After having the chance to sample a few of their items, we went with a ½ pound each of the spicy poke and seaweed poke(sorry, I forget the exact names). The spicy variety is not your typical spicy; in fact, I wouldn’t call is spicy at all. The sashimi tuna is marinated in a creamy, orange sauce that has a lot of flavor but doesn’t have much heat. The seaweed poke is mixed with onions and herbs such that a tangy flavor is added to the fresh cuts of fish. Both versions were melt-in-your-mouth good. We were planning to pair the poke with some sort of sides, but we ended up just chowing down on the fish alone. Authentic, affordable, filling, and incredibly fresh. We were most content after visiting Tersty Treats. Hats off to the employees there as well. The woman helping us was very kind and explained the differences between offerings available that day. Also, we had a great conversation with another employee who was in the process of butchering a HUGE tuna fish while we were ordering. Talk about fresh! If you’re looking for authentic eats, are adventurous, enjoy sashimi, and don’t expect much in regards to ambience, go to Tersty Treats. Oh, and don’t forget the chile water to add to your poke — that will add some kick!

Spicy poke bowl! I went here because of the reviews on Unilocal and also because it was close to where I was staying in ‘Nalo town. Love it. I got a poke(poke is small chunks of raw tuna – like sashimi but in chunks) bowl with«spicy» poke. This was more Polynesian spicy than real Mexican spicy. In other words, not very. But it was still delicious. The spicy sauce was like the spicy sauce you get on top of your sushi sometimes, creamy, tangy and a hint of spiciness. I also got another kind(not shoyu) that was sublime. I couldn’t fix my taste buds on the taste, but it was kind of like a smoked seaweed. They both were awesome. Piled onto a small bowl of moist rice, with one of my new favorites, the kim-chee cucumber. The thing I loved about the poke was that it wasn’t overpowered by the spices and accompaniments. The poke was the center of it all. Place was clean, simple, and people provided friendly service, even to us tourists. ;-)

After a day at the gorgeous Waimanalo Beach Park, my friends and I decided to go to Tersty Treats as I had seen this place on Unilocal.Unfortunately this place did not quite live up to our expectations. The spicy ahi poke, was nothing spectacular. There was almost a slight mushiness to it, and was about the same quality as the previously frozen type from Foodland. This is fine, because even previously frozen ahi poke itself is delicious, but the price was quite high, and it was being sold as fresh ahi poke, so it should taste better than the frozen type, but it did not. I’ve had much fresher poke and tastier from Kyung’s Seafood, which is about the same price. The ake is raw beef liver. I tried a sample of it, and it had a extremely strong liver flavor, so much that I might even say it reeked of liver, instead of the more gentler taste of pork or chicken liver. The Cantonese word for describing a bad flavor that strong would be «sang.» There was also somewhat of an iron taste to it. I also tried the the lomi o’io, which is pureed bonefish. It was all right, and would probably have been all right with rice. It was a whitefish with seasonings that had been pureed into a complete paste, like the fish purée in the big bowls at Chinatown. The fish itself had a light flavor, accompanied by whatever seasonings they had added to it. They also had bacalao, which is salted codfish with watercress, shoyu, and vinegar. It was mostly watercress. It had a strong bite to it with the vinegar and shoyu and watercress combining to create most of the flavor. I couldn’t taste any salted codfish. Last of all, we had the tako poke. It was somewhat chewy but not too much, and had a texture, taste, and visual appearance of having been smoked in addition to having been simmered. The texture was a little bit too chewy for my liking, and needed to be more crisp. The service was decently friendly, and the lady at the counter gave us good directions to get to Sweet Home Waimanalo. This place is next to the 7 – 11 which is on the left hand side of the road if you’re heading toward Kailua and on the right hand side if you’re heading toward Makapu’u.

The freshest and tastiest seafood at reasonable prices served up by friendly staff! Excellent prepared food for birthday parties or barbecues too. If you are in Waimanalo for the day or passing through, I highly recommend stopping in for some poke and lomi to-go. Spread the word! Spread the aloha! Mahalo Tersty Treats for sharing local tradition through onolicious foods!

I was in Waimanalo for a frisbee tournament this past weekend and saw some of my teammates with this delicious looking poke from Tersty Treats. We headed there for lunch. The storefront was unassuming but the inside was very clean and pleasant. I got a delicious poke bowl with lots of poke, rice, and spicy cucumbers for a very reasonable price. Everything was totally delicious and incredible and I devoured it as quickly as I could, but there was so much I even had some left over for a pre-dinner snack! There were three different kinds of poke that all looked delicious, and the people working there let us try all of them before we made our decision. The employees were very nice and also answered all of our questions. I will definitely be returning here the next time I am on Oahu. Poke is a delicious treat that I tend to only get in Hawaii, and this was a great place to fulfill my desire for tasty fish! Thanks :)

This wonderful seafood haven is next to the 2nd7 – 11 in Waimanalo if you are driving around from the Hawaii kai to Kailua bound. If you are coming into Waimanalo from Kailua, it will be on your right in the 1st7 – 11 parking lot. Lots of parking and great clean location! The two nice gals that were helping us when I was there were totally awesome! They suggested to try and gave me and my mom in law samples to try the lomi oio or poke. There is a nice cold display case that is open and they have their famous edamame in their own home made sauce, boiled peanuts, and other snacks that have a sample bowl to try from. This place is clean, smells nice(not fishy at all), great customer service and all smiles! They have the yummiest dried aku, lomi oio, opihi, raw crab, edamame(soybeans). Then the yummiest of them all is the fresh warm fried ahi belly that is waiting for you to order! It isnt too salty… its just right! So delicious if you love fried aku or ahi. Both are so good! I will definitely visit them again in the near future!

I hardly say this but damn this was a tasty surprise with a shockingly great balance of quality and quantity. From now on I’m never getting poke any other aquatic delicacy at any supermarket especially Safeway which serves truly disgusting poke on so many different levels. Since we were so impressed by the look of the poke we ended up trying three different types without trying any samples. We threw caution to the wind and bought a bevy of each type. I was completely dumbfounded when the total was under $ 19. NEVER again am I getting any poke from supermarkets. It’s a bright clean space that is surprisingly large for such a deceiving outer appearance. The staff greet you just like every staff should. Even better they offer you the choice of trying anything you’re curious about. Numerous samples were already displayed in a open chill section. What makes it so good is the fact that everything is lightly sauced so you can savor the nuances of each particular sea creature. Beautiful hearty hunks of fish that can cause a fish induced tastebud orgasm. The poke lowdown — Salmon - The sweetness of the salmon was truly phenomenal. It came with diced scallions and white onion mixed with an exquisite amount of wasabi that blends beautifully as a total package. I’m salivating at the very thought of it while feeling a tremendous compulsion to fetch it out of the fridge even though I’m not hungry. At all. Spicy Ahi — It didn’t look to hot but it certainly tasted great. I found it to be a pleasant flavorful mildness for my palate. It was oh so velvety soft yet firm indicating just how fresh it is. Mayonnaise sauce is a medium thickness that you can still taste the actual flavor of the fish. Tako — It had a firm yet soft enough that it felt far from my usual experience of feeling like I’m in a loosing battle with severed tentacles. It’s rather salty but not an obnoxious way. It had a wonderful sauce that i can’t rightly describe besides stating it had a sweet spiciness with a slight tanginess. Usually I wouldn’t eat many pieces of it but I was popping them down as frequently as a teenage boy masturbates. Yeah, pretty disgusting to imagine but the only fitting description. My last words on Tersty Treats — Bizarre name but who gives a fuck when they serve fish this luscious. Change your name to Luscious Treats.

I’m always on the lookout for good seafood, and when I read about this new store I just had to get down there. I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. They’ve got a nice choice of poke at reasonable(or better) prices. We bought spicy ahi poke, shoyu poke(w/onions), bacalao salad & some fried ahi belly. The fish in the poke was very fresh. They also had: Opihi Sashimi Raw crab Raw squid Dried aku Soybeans Roast Pork Char Siu Ho’io(ferns) Pastele Poke Bowls They are super friendly, and helpful. It’s a nice place to pick up pupus, and a great addition to the Windward Side. **It’s located next to 7 – 11(the one across Jack-in-the-Box). Unilocal 365 Challenge: #41/365
