Clay Kaleolani Mortensen

Like all musicians, Clay works mostly at night, but unlike most musicians, he is very attentive and responsive when you are trying to reach him. I had an outdoor ceremony at the Makena Beach and Golf resort in the afternoon and he made it very easy on me to have outdoor music. I wanted Keali Reichel music and he made suggestions on equipment and was very reasonable with pricing. Best part, he knew all the songs I had requested and sounded exactly like Keali! I couldn’t have been more impressed by his business sense and professionalism. I really enjoyed having him at our ceremony and I will be thinking about him when we have our vow renewals. Clay has a large selection of music and is willing to learn any new songs, so I would be surprised if what you request is not a new song for him. He is great to work with and sounds awesome!

9÷15÷15 UPDATE– We just got back from Maui and were disappointed to discover Clay does not play at the Ritz in Kapalua anymore.
We plan our visits to Maui so that we can see Clay perform on two Friday nights at the Ritz in Kapalua. He is VERY talented and every year we go I wonder if he has been «discovered» and we won’t be able to see him. A couple weeks ago he did a set of Stevie Wonder cover tunes and they were killer. I asked him to make a CD just of those and I would buy it for sure. Clay sings and plays a nylon string electric guitar and is accompanied by a talented lead guitarist (Al?) that throws down some nice licks and a couple solos that sounded like George Benson when I closed my eyes and just listened. They play to tracks so it sounds like a full band. We love to go to the Ritz lobby bar for one of their great burgers and listen to Clay while we eat and then move to the lounge area to be closer to the show. I always leave him a big tip because I feel like we should have had to buy tickets to see this quality of a performance. If you are in the area, I highly recommend that you plan to stop by the Ritz to hear him on a Friday night.

We see Clay every year when we go to Maui. He plays Friday nights at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua. Clay is phenomenal along with his back-​up musician Al. They both play guitar and do a lot of great cover tunes. He is super friendly and we always go up and say hi. I absolutely LOVE Clay’s voice and we have bought several of his cds. Every year we look forward to hearing Clay at the Ritz. Definitely go and check him out.
