The workers there have so much Aloha! and very accommodating. The Hawaiian Quilt patterns kept at this library are the hidden treasures of Waianae. It brings back all the pagentry and history of the days long gone to where our Kupuna’s once walked the earth. Each pattern has a story of its own, while the mana or the spirit of the creator for each individual pattern resides patiently for a solo quilter to bring forth the creator’s beauty and detail work or art. Shame on the person or persons who turned this Hawaiian culture gift into a commercial use by mass producing the quilts in the Philippines and China via a sweat shop.

Thank you, Christopher! Comic Artist Extraordinaire. For teaching me how superhero-esque I am. I forgot how much I used to love to draw. Then I became a judgmental, serious, self-pitying grown-up who can hardly draw a line without wanting to shoot myself. I don’t care WHY I stopped drawing. I just need to start again, at 8 year old level, and continue, FOREVER. This is where I draw the line — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – It all began at Free COmic Book Day @ Waianae Library.
