Went for dinner on a warm night to try something other than the saimin. Prompt friendly service with suggestions for my father. Even though other customers there, she kept checking on us. Dining room clean. Food came out quick and very tasty. We will be back.

Service is really good, but gravy used in my dish was just way too salty. I had to take a sip of water after each bite. Saimin was ok

Aside from ordering takeout and realizing that I got the wrong order when I got home, the banana French toast pancake stuff wasn’t very good. Doughy and soggy and undercooked in some areas. At least you can’t mess up fried rice and an omelet. Even if it’s not what I ordered.

If you ever want eat breakfast in the same morning don’t go here. First of all, the waitress pointed to where we had to sit, then never gave us any menus. We sat there looking at special boards for 5 – 8 minutes with no water no menus, while the waitress bus tables and served another customer who came after us. Mind you there were only 7 – 8 other tables who already were enjoying their food, and no one else waiting to be sat. We then waited for another 3 minutes to see if we would get some sort of acknowledgement but that didn’t happen. After waiting the total of 11 – 12 minutes we decided to leave and the waitress realized we were there and said sorry and tried to chase us down. We showed her the same courtesy she showed us by ignoring her. I hope one day I’ll get to taste their food though!

Stopped one evening for saimin soup and my friends had fried saimin recommended by the waitress. First the saimin soup was sooo SALTY. Was told it came with veggies to find it came with some green onions and 2 slices of kamaboko. So Salty, asked them to fill my bowl to the top with hot water. My friends ordered their fried saimin and again… SOSALTYANDDRY tossed with fried slices of spam. I have dined here couple months ago, appears to really gone downhill. Sorry, but next time we will go up the street to Shige’s.

The food at 49er is great! No complaints there. And their $ 2.95 breakfast special can’t be beat for value. But the service, at least at the Wahiawa location was possibly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Beginning with a somewhat lengthy wait before we were ever even asked for a drink order, and ending with one of the most ridiculous moments in dining history. I had spilled an entire glass of soda on my table, and not once did my waitress come by to assist me. Not even when she saw me get up, go to the counter, get more napkins and clean the table myself! There was ice and soda spilled all over the floor but she just kept walking on by not even offering to refill my soda. I kept trying to flag her down but she ignored me. It wasn’t until after she saw me approach someone else in the restaurant to ask for a broom to clean it myself did she say anything. Someone else finally cleaned it and she finally brought me a refill. I will go back for the 2.95 breakfast. But it will be carryout only!

Ambiance is nice with a real home diner feeling however it is extremely COLD.(AC blasting) I’ve been here a lot of times(being a Wahiawa native and I visit every other month) but I’m not as pleased with the dishes. This time around I had the teri burger and loco moco. The teri burger was very salty and the loco moco was just alright. The saimin to me was also bland. The pancakes were actually good. I will return again and try different dishes.

There’s a couple of Forty Niner restaurants around Oahu and they all do a good job of Breakfast. The menu has all the staples: Eggs; French Toast; Fried Rice; Loco Moco; etc. and the prices are on the lower side. It’s nothing fancy but it does the job!

Avoid!!! Ordered the beef cutlet, which I’ve been eating forever at the other location. Rice was old and room temperature. Informed waitress about issue, she offered to get more rice, but pot may be the issue. NOTHANKS! I know old rice, this was old. On top of that, waiter playing with friends kids in restaurant. Kids screaming and running around made for a very unpleasant meal. Will never eat there again.

Breakfast… huge thick hamsteak, 2 large eggs, and rice for $ 10.95! And the old-time diner experience in small town Wahiawa… can’t beat it! Check em out :-)

We’ve tried their saimin, loco moco, onion rings, garlic chicken, burger… yummy! It’s homestyle cooking. The ambiance is casual and cozy. There’s a lot of parking in the back(share parking with Teddy’s). The waitress was friendly.

Not fantastic but pretty good. I really wanted to try the garlic chicken because it was highly recommended but ordered the roast pork because I was craving some gravy. The meat was shredded and very tender, not too greasy, and the gravy was very flavorful. Meat was just a tad too salty for me but wolfed it down anyway :) I got the side salad and it was good also, with a nice light sesame type dressing. I would definitely come again. We had a bigger group(8 people) and they let us move tables around to fit comfortably(it wasn’t busy). Staff is very friendly. It was a bit slow but we DID have a lot of people and ordered a lot of food.

Affordable diner food & Good service. It wouldn’t be my first option for eating out, but i would return. Tried the egg cheeseburger and it was good. Want to return to try their chicken and waffles, once i do i will update my review.

Chicken and waffles. I’m a sucker for boneless chicken and waffles, I told you. This is the new Forty Niner located in Wahiawa near Teddy’s and Walgreens. Parking is located in the back, so you actually have to drive around and make like a loop around Walgreens, and pull up through the back. If you’re familiar with Wahiawa, you know what I’m talking about. We dined in, but what I love about this place is that they have a window on the side of their restaurant for take out orders. Let’s face it, when I do take out orders it’s because I want food but I’m too lazy to brush my hair or put decent clothes on. The fact that I don’t have to walk through a restaurant among the judging eyes of strangers just to pick up my food is a huge plus. Another thing: they offer military discount, which is a bonus considering they’re minutes away from Schofield. Our waitress was really sweet, like homely kind of sweet, like she made me feel like I was having lunch at my aunties house. The food was so good and came out really fast. I’ve only tried the chicken and waffles, but I’m for sure coming back to try their other dishes. My dad swears by their garlic chicken — we actually ended up there because I offered to buy him garlic chicken if he detailed my car. So there you have it: great chicken and waffles, and if you bring my dad, he’ll detail your car. Win win.

Pretty laid back place that gives you a nice homey feeling. Day 1: kailua pig sandwich deluxe(veggies inside), w/fries. The fries were plain, but I got to season them to my liking. The sandwich was good too, but after a while my bottom bun got all soggy from the tomato and pickle. Day 2: smoked meat, eggs w/fried rice and a small saimin. My favorite… the saimin. It was plain and simple just how I like it. The smoked meat and fried rice was a little to greasy for my taste but otherwise, I give a thumbs up

We’ve tried many items here but unfortunately none really stood out as fantastic. The workers are always friendly and provide great service but the food is just okay. Probably their best dish is the garlic chicken. Crispy, sometimes overly battered, but always fried to perfection, tossed in a shoyu garlic glaze. The saimin is too salty for my taste, and the noodles way overcooked and mushy. Burgers and hamburger steak patties are passable, little better than your average plate lunch place. Their famous lechon is not like Thelma’s or Elena’s, but not bad if you have a hankering for fried pork belly with crispy skin. Prices are good for the portion sizes, and lots of parking in the nearby lot connecting to Walgreens. If I do go back, I’ll probably try their breakfast items instead.

I have seen this place in passing a few times and kept thinking that I would one day stop in and try it. Today was that day. I ordered the garlic chicken with toss salad. My friend wasn’t sure if he should get the fried chicken or the pork roast. The server was extremely helpful. She suggested the pork roast with a side of fried chicken. problem solved! Everything was delicious! I will definitely be back. I’m especially interested now in their breakfast menu. Everything looked so great. I will probably be back soon.

I so wanted this to be good. I ordered the fried noodles and garlic chicken, my friend had ordered a Teri burger with fries, and we shared a stack of forty niner pancakes. Service was good, the lady was super friendly, gave us her recommendations since we were noobs. It wasn’t crowded, so food came out quickly. My fried noodles lacked taste. It just tasted like boiled noodles that was slightly fried. No salt, no oyster sauce, no shoyu, no nothing. The garlic chicken did save it a lot. My friends burger was your normal typical burger, like the kind you get at fooball games, with extra Teri sauce, tomato, and onion. Halfway through the burger, the buggah was RAW! No Bueno. The pancakes were on point though. Thank you pancakes! I love pancakes. #pancakesislife I may not be coming here anytime soon again, but if I do, I’ll probably stick to the pancakes. Oh and parking is in the same lot as Teddy’s and Walgreens.
