I came here for the Just Between Friends consignment sale and we had a great time and I was able to completely outfit my son for fall and winter for about 30 $(it was half price day) I never new about that sale so now I have it marked on my calendar for the spring/summer sale. I have also never been to the convention center here, in fact I did not know that Waco even had one! The facility is beautiful, modern, lots of parking, along the river and a LOT of restrooms very well placed. I hope to attend more things here!

The in-house catering was the poorest excuse for breakfast and dinner that I have ever encountered. In our first two meals for our party of 100(breakfast and dinner), they didn’t have enough food. I came in at the end of the meal and there was no more cream cheese for my cold, un-toasted bagels, and there was no one manning the tables to ask for more. There was no more fruit for me either. The rest of the meal was packaged pastries. The only good thing I found was a muffin. At dinner, they were unprepared to accommodate vegetarians and vegans, so all they got for dinner was salad and fried egg rolls… The rest of dinner was canned soup, salad and overcooked chicken. I was excited for breakfast the next day because I saw hot food! Eggs, bacon, veggies and tortillas to make breakfast burritos. It was very mediocre, but compared to breakfast the previous day it was great. However, as the day went on, I started feeling worse and worse. I got really achy and cold, and my friend’s stomach was doing flips. Some other people in our party stayed in the hotel because they had stomach cramps. By the end of the night, my friend and I were bedridden with a fever and skipped dinner. Now, it could have been a bug, and this sickness definitely did not affect everyone, but I personally think it was something in the food. I took a couple bites of the packaged lunch that day, which was a ham and cheese sandwich. It was ok, but I was already feeling sick so I didn’t finish it. Also, the only packaged lunch options were vegetarian and ham and cheese. Since the vegetarians had to reserve their lunch, people who did not eat pork had to wait for a new lunch(roast beef sandwich). Caterers should know to ALWAYS provide a pork-free option! After skipping dinner the night before, I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch at the convention center the next day. Probably a good idea, because in the packed lunch, the vegetarians got moldy fruit… Maybe this confirms the food poisoning theory. Completely unacceptable. I hope our program is getting reimbursed.
