This is the WORST emergency room that I have ever been to. My friend and I were hit by multiple cars and an 18-wheeler on I-35. The EMS came and were nonchalant and even laughing while they pulled my barely-conscious friend from the car onto a stretcher. I was in tears and a lot of pain and the EMS people did not acknowledge my existence even when I got into the ambulance with them. They did not even call the hospital so when we arrived, no one knew that I was in the car with her. Even as I sobbed alone in the hallway, not one doctor, nurse or receptionist asked if I was ok(there were no other patients running around so they weren’t busy). Finally, my mom drove 2 hours from Austin and arrived to make sure they checked me out. The doctors mocked my friend while they took her scans, joking about how she could have been«impaled» by her keys. Even after realizing that i was in the car, the staff was inconsiderate and unconcerned. I had to force them to check me out and they prescribed me no medication for the pain even after I complained multiple times, and they gave my friend a muscle relaxant. THISHOSPITALISHORRIBLE. If I could find grounds to sue on, I would. I have even called back multiple times to try and get a prescription for my extreme whiplash but each time I magically get disconnected from the number they gave me to call. I am 19 years old and I was terrified, alone, and in extreme pain at the hospital and not one staff member took notice. I am livid at the way we were treated at this VERY serious accident that took place at full speed on a major highway. I will continue to post bad reviews until something is done. Again, if I could sue, I would. I’m horrified that they even call themselves a hospital.

Don’t know about their quality of care b/c when I got to the ER(at midnight) and asked Reception in the ER about approximate wait time and/or # of ER docs on staff that night, all I got was a «I am not able to give out that information»… Every other ER affiliated with any major hospital can usually give an approximation or at least # of Docs on staff so we can make a decision on whether to stay or go… Need better customer service.

If you truly need medical attention, get thyself over to Providence — these people here are quick to get their co-pay, then throw you out on the street… they are horrible! Run away fast!

Well if your having a possible stroke or heart attack you might want to drive to the next hospital. My dad has been waiting for over an hour. Oh did I mention they know he has already had a stroke before and is having chest pains too. He has good insurance. What a pathetic place.

I have never been as disgusted with a group of people than I am with this hospital right now. My father went in for a regular doctors appointment and was rushed to the emergency room with heart problems. After a multiple week stay, he gets released to find that security had his car towed. He parked near a medical building and was sent to the ER. When they saw his car sitting there for weeks they just assumed it was abandoned. At least try to figure out if the freaking owner is in your hospital first! Worthless.

I am alive today because of the amazing staff at Hillcrest Hospital, the Surgical ICU staff, and the team of doctors. I’m from Dallas and was visiting Waco in February 2014. I was biking in Cameron park and had a horrible accident. I broke several ribs and shattered my kidney. I had to be taken by ambulance to Hillcrest where their team saved my life. I would have never thought of Waco as being a place to get care on this level but I am thankful my accident happened there instead of Dallas. The care and dedication of this team blew anything I have ever seen on Dallas out of the water. I cannot recommend this facility enough!!! In particular, Dr Gaines Hammond was amazing!!! He came in on an ice day when he was off and spent over an hour just talking to me. I didn’t feel like a number — I felt like a human who was cared for.

The care in the emergency room was negligent, I was extremely short of breath, in terrible distress and I waited 6 hrs and was never seen. I am a medical professional myself and have never seen such negligent care. I would will never go to this hospital again, I almost died waiting for care. The only hospital I can recommend is Scott and White hospital in Temple. I left Hillcrest that night and was treated immediately upon arriving at Scott and White in Temple. At Scott and White in temple they actually do triage patients an give them immediate attention when in a life-threatening condition. In short avoid Hillcrest emergency room. It is a death trap. They are not competent. Go instead to Scott and White in Temple. They have a well deserved excellent reputation.

The place is brand new and the staff seems to be great. They did a good job in planning for parking when they designed the layout and it is conveniently located off of highway 6 and I-35. I only visited once so the experience could be a fluke.

Being the best hospital in Waco may not be saying much, but this is the place to go vs. Providence down the road. You will be treated better by more competent people.
