Brazos Bluffs Stables

Two of my close friends came for a visit and wanted to go horse back riding. We had a wonderful time! Our guide, Lem, was friendly and enjoyable to spend the ride with. We’ll all definitely be back!

My wife and I enjoyed one of the most beautiful trail rides you may be able to find anywhere within 500 miles. The guide, Lem, was so kind and friendly. I can’t wait to go back and would encourage anybody looking for a fantastic ride to give them a call.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The community is a really nice place to relax and do some shopping. Lem, our guide, was friendly and courteous. Be sure to save some time to eat at the restaurant! We hope to come back next time we’re in the area.

On multiple occasions I’ve stayed at the vacation house, attended several events at the riverside pavilion and enjoyed many memorable rides at Brazos Bluffs Ranch. Every time I’ve been impressed with the staff, the grounds and the entire experience. I would recommend the horseback rides, canoeing, event pavilion and vacation house to anyone. This place is truly a hidden jewel, only minutes from downtown Waco and just a few hours from DFW or Austin.

Got kicked by a horse, while riding a horse?!
Our trail ride was going really well until a small group of loose horses started exhibiting aggressive behavior (biting and kicking our horses) while we were still mounted. One of the well placed kicks missed the mare underneath my husband and nailed him right in the calf. Less experienced riders might have been dismounted during the process and resulted in far more serious injuries.
I sort of saw the situation escalating and became really nervous when it was clear the guide had no real plan to take control of the situation other than «hope they stop following us». That group of horses should not have been turned out on the trail areas during our ride and should have never be allowed to behave that way
Buyer beware-​not all horses and guides are made equally. Inquire about the experience and training of both prior to saddling up!
