My friend chose Prohibition for his birthday dinner so my boyfriend and I made the trek up from Del Mar to check it out. And boy is it a trek! It seems that driving to Vista is a journey in itself but Prohibition is still another ten or so minutes north of the 78. As we were driving, we kept wondering if we were headed in the right direction as the surrounding area doesn’t look like the place for a brewery. When we eventually arrived, I must admit that Prohibition wasn’t what I was expecting and doesn’t have the same brewery feel that others, like Karl Strauss and Ballast Point, have. However, in terms of restaurant, it was pretty good. They have quite an expansive menu and our table of four ended up with a burger, a sandwich, a teriyaki plate and enchiladas. I chose the prime rib dip and upgraded my side to the truffle fries. The sandwich was gigantic and had great flavor. I was pleased that the prime rib was trimmed well as I hate fatty chunks on my meat. The fries were a slight letdown, though, and it seemed like the truffle was a bit skimpy. In hindsight, I think I would have preferred the seasoned fries instead. My meal ended up being plenty for two meals and I enjoyed my leftover sandwich for lunch the following day. I’m not a beer drinker but my boyfriend tried a couple of the beers. We jokingly asked the waitress if there’s anything special for a birthday and she ended up bringing the birthday boy a complimentary beer, which was a nice touch.

LOVE Prohibition. Love the ribs, love the beer, love the fries. I have not been anything but impressed with the food and grog, and the staff and friendly and attentive. It’s a good family place and I also meet colleagues for business there at times. Solid.

Prohibition is a great local spot! Great food, great service and great atmosphere. We came for dinner on a Sunday night and we were immediately greeted and we were able to find a table in the bar area. Our server, Travis, was awesome! He was great in helping decide what to eat. He was knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. I had the Lucky Luciano sandwich. It was HUGE. I split it with someone else so I could save room for some of the chili that was highly recommended. Both items were absolutely delicious. For dessert we tried the Prohibition pazooki cookie. It was served warm in a skillet with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. That was probably my favorite part of the whole meal! Overall a wonderful experience. I plan on coming back soon!

I live very near to this restaurant so this is my family’s and my go to spot for a casual night out when I don’t want to cook. We go here at least once a month, sometimes twice. The burgers are SERIOUSLY some of the best I’ve had and I am picky when it comes to burgers. I’ve had a lot of their menu items and have NEVER been disappointed. They have really good specials. The beers are really good too. The servers are awesome. The overall feel of the restaurant is great. Easily one of my FAVORITE restaurants in North County.

I have wanted to try this place for a long time since it’s one of the ones my friends have talked about. We went on a Sunday night, and it wasn’t very crowded. There’s a separate section for just the bar or you can have sit down seating for table service. We ordered a flight to share with the group. They had about nine beers that they brew at this location. This is when the service went downhill. When our beer flight came back the waiter was very confused about which beers were in each glass. This is essential when you’re doing a beer flight if he wants to get us to order additional pints. He came over again after about 20 minutes and seemed very rushed to get us to close out our tabs. We then told him that we wanted to order food, and we placed our food order. He did not seem knowledgeable about the menu or very concerned with making sure that we had a pleasant experience. We had to flag him down whenever we needed something to go with our food or to order additional beers. In fact, he brought our bills without asking us if we needed anything else, and my friends that came little bit later had not ordered their drinks. Towards the end of the adventure he told us that he was going to have to leave because he was going to hit 40 hours. He then left us without offering to have another staff member take over for him to make sure that we had everything that we needed. It was over an hour before closing so they could’ve made more money off of our 5 person group. We would have ordered several more drinks and food if they had paid attention to our table. This experience did not leave me wanting to visit this brewery again. I have been to many breweries in the area and even when they’re packed they make sure that you have the drinks that you need. The lack of customers in this establishment should’ve made it easy for us to place our orders and have full glasses.

Stopped here for lunch while in the area and sat at the bar. Service was a little slower than I would expect, but I wasn’t in a major hurry. Food was very good. I didn’t have any beers, but based off the menu they had plenty.

I’m not a fan of breweries so I will keep it short. The Good: Clean, very newly built or remodled, plenty of bar and tvs, plenty of beer. The Mac and cheese. The Bad: Nachos could use help burger and fries just ok. It’s got an Applebee’s charm to it. The ugly, very dark no windows, long waits during peak hours no Bud Light when I went. I will go again and give a better review went for a light meal so hope next time is better.

This is more of a restaurant with beer than a brewery with food. The beer selection is bland…8 common beers. We tried four and only really liked the Sweet Biscuit Amber with the Cream Ale, Red, and Stout being pretty good but nothing special. The food was really good and we had the fish & chips and fish tacos. The service was also really good and out patio server was friendly. This would be a 3 for the brewery and a 4 for the restaurant.

You would never expect this place to be so nice from the looks of the building. But what a cool place! Awesome bar grill atmosphere, and is mostly restaurant. Great beers, Prohibiting and others. All I had was clam chowder and dang it it was some of the best I’ve ever had lots of clams!

After seeing this place close to another restaurant I’ve been to. I put this place on my go to list. Today I finally came here with my family. This place is definitely family friendly and I loved that! It’s super casual with some fun bench seating arrangements. My son tried to order an Ale. A Ginger Ale that is. Ha that would be cute for the youngsters if they did have that on the menu. Because of a few of my Unilocal friends I was convinced I definitely needed to visit this place. Therefore, I knew exactly what I wanted. By their reviews & the pictures etc. The Pretzel with cheese sauce ~ Check(we shared it & next time we’ll request less or no salt) Tomato Bisque & Grilled cheese sandwich ~ Check Both kids had the Mac n Cheese ~Check(they both needed a to go box in the end. We were not offered size when we were ordering. But for next time we know that smaller portions are available. They both snacked before dinner and were happy to have leftovers :-) They didn’t have the crab cake sliders today ~ bummer because we wanted to try that. Maybe next time? Also my husband wanted to try the hellacious guava beer on the menu but they didn’t have it so he had the Blood orange instead. They didn’t have an apple cider but rather a grapefruit cider. I got to try a sample so that was cool. I’d still prefer an apple cider or an Angry Orchard tho. Soo… I opted for the vanilla cream ale. It was good. Everything we did have was great just a tad disappointed on what they didn’t have. The staffers were very friendly and as I said before are matchy to the super casual vibe there. Go in with that vibe and you’ll be just fine. So that being said try what they do have — since they have quite a full menu and current specials going on. Cheers and hope to bump into my Unilocal«friends» who frequent this place sometime soon.

I know and truly appreciate craft beer and Prohibition was lacking in this area. I tried three recommended beers, but nothing tasted just right. The food was decent, but then again, it’s not difficult to make a salad. The service was also lacking. We waited 23 minutes for a table and waited an additional 61 minutes for our food. The food was not our correct order so that further delayed our dining experience. Additionally, our waters/teas were never refilled, disappointed.

I was able to bring my parents here for lunch and give them a taste of where I like to enjoy some good beer, great food and excellent service. Once again, they made me a happy customer. It was so nice that my parents could experience the same quality of service. It is quite awkward when you rave about a place, bring your guests so they can experience the same and you are embarrassed because that was not the case at all. Well, it was two thumbs up here, whew! We ordered the flight, and my dad enjoyed the Hef U Up, and ordered a pint in addition for him. Our appetizer was the Sampler platter and my parents were full just from that dish. Their faves from the platter, the Loaded Potato Bites and the Onion Rings. Of course, I had to get the Pretzel(one of my faves). My mom enjoyed that very much, especially with the ProCo. Cheese Sauce, mmmmm good! My order was one of the specials, Tomato Basil Bisque with grilled cheese sandwich. The thick soup is full of flavors, and when you dip that grilled sandwich in… it’s like food heaven… My father ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and chose the onion rings for the side since it was delicious from the Sampler Platter. Although being full from picking at the Sampler Platter, that did not stop my father from devouring all of his Philly sandwich. My mom had the Carne Asada Fries. She was quite happy with the dish, but was unable to finish. We were pleased with the great food. There were some leftovers to take home. My dad enjoyed the place so much, he wanted to go home with a shirt. My dad is a proud, retired Marine, if he is wanting to wear a shirt with a business logo he is proud to say he ate there and let the town know! Judge for yourself and give the place a try. There is plenty of seating and quite a few seating out in the back patio as well. It is a nice and rugged décor, very casual. Get comfy and get your grub on!

very ROADHOUSE kinda ambiance — bit scruffy around the edges. not that that bothers me but if if bothers you, you’ve been disclosed. OATMEALSTOUT was pretty standard and there’s nothing wrong with that. our late lunch got off to a great start with the NACHOS(baked tortillas chips, house-pickled jalapeños, salsa fresca, avocado, melted cheese and sour cream) — tasty, fun, family, finger food. JULIANA, our twelve-year old daughter, added bacon to her MAC-N-CHEESE. if it tasted even half as creamy and delicious as it looked, it was amazing. WYATT, our ten-year old son, had the CALIFORNIADELUXE(turkey, bacon, tomato and avocado) and subbed in grilled parmesan sourdough for the jalapeño-cheddar bread. grinning ear-to-ear, he gave the sandwich an enthusiastic two thumbs up. the PROHIBITIONBURGER(50⁄50 pork and beef patty, bacon, fried egg, smoked gouda, fried onion strings, jalapeño cream sauce) was massive. split it with my wife and waddled out stuffed. the least positive thing i could say is had to eat the last couple bites with a knife and fork. the TRUFFLE-PARMFRIES were sublime. i rarely mention the server in a review but TRAVIS did such an exceptional job, just had to say so. thanks, guy, you took great care of us.

Came here for a rehearsal dinner. They have a huge and well decorated space. We sat outside and there was a lot of tables and heating lamps. The waiter was super friendly, explaining all the beer choices and menu. It was a group of about 30 and the staff was prompt and helpful. They were quick to bring drinks and food. The menu is varied and everything had huge portions. Well prices for the amount of food you get. The cider they had was ok. A little too much like beer for my taste. I had a hard time deciding on food. They had salads and soup. Sandwiches. Pizza. Mexican food. So many options. The French Dip which is my go to was amazing. Crusty bread and perfectly cooked meet. So delicious. I ordered it with a side of Cajun fries which were great. And they make their own ranch with was super good. Highly recommended.

Another great place Unilocal recommended. It’s not an easy place to find, tucked up in the hills on the way to San Diego, but once your there you will appreciate it. We sat at the bar, Brian was our bartender, very knowledgeable about the beer they brew and the food they serve. They do brew their own beer, so it will change due to the seasons. They also have some regular favorites on tap. Family atmosphere with a large dining room big screen TVs. Food was good we got the street tacos, I wasn’t very hungry. The menu looked amazing, I wish I was hungry! Spoke to some local folks, who come here a couple times a week for dinner and a drink. Their meal looked delicious! If your in the area of Vista, Ca. San Diego area, you need to stop by the Prohibition for a bite to eat and a cold drink.

Not sure how I could have missed this place or when it actually opened, it has now become my new favorite place though. Now I know why so many people come here. From the moment we walked in we were greeted from one of the hostesses. We sat at a table and went during lunch time. The bar area was packed but there is plenty of seating inside and also outside on their patio area. As we received our menus we noticed they had a weekly special pamphlet inside for breakfast and other lunch items. There ranch dressing is amazing it’s not hidden valley ranch or anything but something I think they make at the restaurant, yum! They have lots of tasty appetizer selections from onion rings, chicken wings(buffalo, sweet chili, lemon pepper), fried avocado, potato skins, nachos, carne asada fries, etc. We tried the Mac and cheese bites which came with a cheese sauce very good reminded me of the Del Mar fair, it was deep-fried, however it wasn’t as fattening or crunchy as expected which was nice. The oil seemed fresh based on how the Mac and Cheese bites turned out. For the main meal, I had the Santa Fe Chipotle Burger which was delicious with parmesan fries which is an additional $ 1.50 or so since they are specialty fries. The fries had parmesan coated on them, it is a bit messy but nothing to serious. Just use your napkin. My husband had the Classic burger and I had him get the cajun fries so we could share. The fries had a good taste, we were both pleased with. Our waiter was Jaren very nice guy, didn’t rush us or anything. Asked us if we had any questions about the menu, provided great service, brought us to-go boxes along with the bill, didn’t hold us up, he also thanked us for coming in. I can’t wait to visit this place again and bring our friends.

Come hungry, leave with a food coma. I had the teriyaki burger with Cajun fries a while back. It’s usually my go-to hamburger when I eat at a sit down place. The hamburger was really good. I wanted it medium, but it came out brown in the middle, probably from the residual heat continuing to cook it because it was still really juicy. The fries on the side were a bit much to eat. Between the leftovers of my group, there was still a whole order of fries! The last time I went there, I had the special«Porkhibition» burger. What came to the table was a towering behemoth as tall as my pint glass! In it was a 50⁄50 ground beef and pork mix, topped with a slice of smoked gouda, a stack of onion rings, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, red onion, jalapeño cream cheese on top of what I think was a brioche bun. The fries on the side was thankfully a smaller serving of what they normally give, because finishing off the burger was a challenge on its own. The meat itself tasted pretty good, I don’t know if it was the cheese or they had did something to the meat to give it a smoky taste to it, but I liked the flavor it gave. The burger tasted pretty good, though I don’t think I would get it again just for myself. It was just way too much to eat. The interior is fairly good sized, on the left upon entering has a bunch of 4 seater tables along with bar seating, but the open area has some large round tables for seating about 6 people per table. There are some 4 and 2 person tables here too. Check out the walls for some info about the prohibition era, and the wall of «tommy guns.» They do show sports games on their TV’s, so it’d be a nice place to go to watch the game and drink a beer or two.

Even those this place is really close to us, this was the first time we frequented the place. It’s an interesting location, next to a church and soon to have some new houses across the street. There’s a lot of construction on Vista Way at the moment, so it makes this location even more of a challenge. The actual space has a lot of prohibition era photographs, copy, etc. We ordered an oatmeal chocolate beer and some sodas. The guys had fish and chips — my son had a side of onion rings and I ordered the pulled pork carnitas and fries. The service was okay, while the waitress noticed that my son was out of soda(twice), not once did she refill my soda. I sat with an empty glass for half of my meal —(and this was my birthday lunch)! The fish and the onion rings had obviously been in the same deep fryer. You could taste a little of the fish on the onion rings. The same batter was used on both — while it’s not like a tempura batter, it’s definitely more dense. The pulled pork carnitas was excellent! Very moist and delicious. We ordered dessert since it was my birthday and asked for the caramel brown sundae. What was delivered was a brownie with a little caramel and whipped cream — no ice cream!!! When she delivered it I asked if it was the brownie sundae and she said yes, so we split it three ways. The brownie was delicious, but just not the same without the ice cream. When the waitress dropped off the check and picked up the plate, she asked how we liked the sundae — we did mention it had no ice cream. She took off the sundae from the bill, but it was the first time a birthday dessert was actually charged to the bill
