This place is amazing! Definitely the best bagel place in VB. I got the everything bagel and it had lots of everything, and on the bottom too, with bacon, egg, and jalapeño cream cheese. They have the circular bacon so the entire bagel has bacon with each bite. This place is awesome and I will definitely be going back.

The Bagel was Amazing! Fast and Friendly Service! I found the place by searching bagels on Unilocal.I heard a few locals talking about the place and being the big Bagel fan I am I had to find out for myself the greatness I was hearing everyone talk about!

I have to say — every single time I walk out of this place — I’m fat, dumb, and HAPPY! Their bagels are the best in the area, and their breakfast sandwiches are to die for. Great customer service, and a very friendly atmosphere! There’s really not much more to say. If you like bagels, you should check this place out. If you don’t like bagels, you should have your head examined — then check this place out!

I will always rate this the best breakfast/bagel place in VB hands down based on the service and friendly faces. I haven’t been to VB in ten years. Things have changed. And I decided to stop into the Bagel Baker for just a bagel and orange juice this start my weekend visit. Not only was the hot blonde at counter super nice and welcoming but she def knew her stuff. Then the owner George met me at my table after I got my bagel sandwich and we had a solid 20 minute talk about life, our careers, his shop, etc. It defined my stay in Virginia Beach for the weekend and reminded me of the awesome people the 757 breeds. Stand up guy, running a great bagel shop. On my way out he thanked me for my service in the Army and tossed me a tshirt and called it a souvenir from VB. Couldn’t be happier. I had the«Soho» bagel sandwich and it was phenomenal. If you’re in VB and you want a friendly spot for breakfast or brunch or a load of bagels, stop at Bagel Bakery, you won’t regret it. The bagels are fresh and the people are 1st class.

Extraordinary customer service. Went today to get a sandwich before work. Unbeknownst to me they closed at 3 and I arrived at 3:20. The owner saw me walking back to my car and welcomed into the shop. Took my order and informed me his grill was off. This guy walked next door to the pizza place and cooked my chicken, came back and put together my sandwich. What a guy… Blew me away. Can’t get enough of this place. Bring your friends bring your family, bring your grumpy ass boss and they’ll leave him smiling ear to ear. My unborn man beast of a son will eat their beautiful creations to enhance his world saving abilities. See you again soon bagel baker.

A bit out of the way from my usual travels but after reading the reviews, I had to make the run to Bagel Baker. And that was a good choice. I went right to the everything bagel(toasted, of course) and the Long Island Lox on it. Cream cheese, capers, onions and a very good portion of smoked salmon. Ooo-eee, that’s the stuff right there. Coffee was only okay. But really, you’re here for the bagels.

I have been coming for years and have always received freshly baked bagels. This wasn’t the case yesterday. We had company, so I purchased 9 bagels to go at 8.30. They were not fresh, but stale. I was so embarrassed to serve the them to our guests. What happened?

Wow! First time here and as soon as I walked in they were extremely friendly! The guy up front told us he can help us and answer any questions if needed. The bagels were huge and amazingly delicious! While we were waiting other guests were coming in and the guy up front all knew them by name. They all seemed like regulars who thoroughly loved the placed and the owners. This will be my new favorite bagel shop!!!

Terrific bagels and a great menu of breakfast sandwiches. The bagels are authentic, chewy New York style not thick bread like so many chain stores. Had the BB on Broadway on an everything and my wife has the spinach and feta(forget the name) and both were amazing. The atmosphere is thoughtful and pleasant. Definitely worth your business.

Family-owned, authentic and fresh New York-style bagels right off N. Great Neck rd. in the heart of Virginia Beach. One of my favorite go-to Breakfast spots in the area because the quality of both food and service. You’ll find a bunch of locals popping in and out so you know it’s good! Tons of options on the menu for breakfast and brunch. I always order«The Manhattan» and add avocado.

It’s not often that I am surprised about locating an established business in my sphere of eating and shopping. But it does happen and The Bagel Baker is once such surprise, or shall I say shock. This is an example of what the search engine on Unilocal can do for you and it turned up a great find by looking up breakfast. While trying to kill some time before heading to swim clinic this gem popped up. The reviews looked impossible and I did something I rarely do, looked at who reviewed it and read a little. I was sold and headed that way upon opening at 6:30AM. The shop is located in the Great Neck Village with the Food Lion being the major anchor. You can almost not see it from the road which is a problem for drive up business. You pretty much must know that you are coming here, unless shopping at one of the few other small retail stores and you happen to come across them. There is construction going on beside them, but it not affecting parking etc. However, they usually have a table, or two out that have been put away due to dust. Parking should never be an issue and I found that the lot to be clean and tidy. Even the storefront sidewalks and ledges of the windows were clean which they are struggling with due to construction. Signage is excellent once your in the lot. I popped in not know anything about the business, the menu, or the story behind the business. A young woman named Rachel assisted me with less than a roaring good morning… yeah it’s early but you are the face of the shop. There were lots of breakfast sandwich choices, bagels and bowls. After a little discussion I decided on the Bronx Bowl, a newer item. I also go a coffee which is a local blend from Norfolk Coffee & Tea. It is self serve with two types of flavored pump creamers and traditional packet creamers. Sugar stirs, napkins etc. was in this area. I would have loved to seen a couple varieties of half/half 1%/2% milk in a thermos. The place had just opened and was close to dead except for a couple of Men that walked in with me. The front is your order area with kitchen directly behind. The dining room is to your right. Concrete floors with a classy NY pics adorn the walls. A center piece is a framed NY Subway poster. There is also a collage of the owner George and his wife’s Greek weeding which is a must see, the pics are beautiful. A TV is in the back, but the volume was mute. Music was not on for the first 10 min, or so and then was flipped on. The entire dining room was clean from tables to floors. My bowl was delivered to me at the table without fanfare. It was really hot and needed to cool and bit before digging in. But once so it was decent, but not outstanding. I hit the restrooms prior to leaving and they were in excellent condition. So, it was a great find and worthy of a repeat which I did the next two morning with various breakfast sandwiches which were a big hit such at the huge BB on Broadway. The benefit of coming that third day was meeting the owners Mother Maria who was extremely personable and passionate about the business. That is what I was looking for and it was lacking. Maria said her son who is a George Mason grad had the restaurant business in his blood and knew he wanted to open up some type of eatery. In 2011 he opened the Bagel Maker which has somewhat evolved. However, the core principle of fresh bagels done the old way on their 1950’s machine will always be present. When I say old way I mean everything except for hand role. They are so scrumptious. They are more than a breakfast place as you will find great lunch menu of sandwiches and salads. After now four breakfast visits in one week I can absolutely say they are a strong 4+. I’m rounding down to the 4 because in my opinion the front staff as mentioned could be more friendly, welcoming and inviting. In no way is this a reflection of the food and nice atmosphere. This will be a regular place for me without a doubt and I will enjoy spreading the word of this hidden little bagel gem that many have no idea is tucked off Great Neck.

Very good bagels!!! Tried them out this morning with my eldest before I dropped her off at school. The bagels are homemade here at the shop. They also have muffins and cinnamon rolls if you are not in the mood for a bagel. We got the plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a bacon/egg/cheese bagel sandwich. I also got a salted caramel latte. Everything was very good and the people working here are very nice. The place is clean(even the bathrooms) and has fun New York décor. I love the large NY subway map. I love New York, so it’s nice to stare at the map and remember fun times I had in that great city!

In terms of bagels, probably the best I have had in this area or pretty much anywhere. Wayyy back in the day this used to be a bagel works. Im talking like 15 years ago and i have missed that ever since. This is better! The breakfast sandwiches are delicious esp, stopping in after morning swim sessions or with the kids in the summer. Friendly atmosphere and you will usually see some familiar faces, lots of tables. Very satisfying! Let’s talk about the veggie sandwich on an everything bagel and how it is becoming one of my favorite sandwiches of all times… i get serious cravings for these things and I cannot say that about many other sandwiches except maybe Taste Unlimited. Sprouts, veggie cream cheese, cucumbers. all coming together in wonderfulness. My husband is not really a bagel/bread type of person and even he said the everything bagels were awesome! We recently got some to take home and the herb cream cheese was also amazing… throw that store-bought mess in the trash! Owner is super friendly and will always stop and visit with us if it is not busy. Menu is pretty simple, but this just proves you do not need a bunch of revved up items to be delicious!
