She will ripped you off. I use to go here but I got tired of her changing my order, when it’s lunch special she’ll try to charge dinner because it’s more expensive. One time I order a pad Thai and she put it in small plate because she said she ran out. So sad because her food is good, but she’s a hussler.

Don’t let looks deceive you! It is a small restaurant with humble surroundings and décor, but to food is great! My husband and I almost turned around and ran in the other direction because there were no guests(I think they were wrapping up after a birthday party) and there was some people still milling around. Glad we stayed. Food was quick and good. If you are looking for pretty decent thai food and don’t care about your surrounds, this is the place for you!

I was feeling under the weather so I called to pick up some Tom Yum Soup to go. EVERY Thai restaurant has this, right? — I really wants Tom Kha with coconut milk– but they don’t have coconut milk. HUH? EVERY Thai restaurant has coconut milk. It’s 11:30am — the guy and the woman both acted like I was bothering them walking in for soup– and they acted like I just woke them up. So already, not getting a warm fuzzy about the place. Not to mention it was dirty! — So I take my soup– without a thank you or goodbye– thinking, how can you screw up soup?! Yup, you can unless you like Fish Sauce soup. Disgusting. And it looked nothing like any Tom Yum I’ve ever had — Guess who will never go there or recommend this place. ICK!

We were the only people eating in the restaurant, which usually makes me worry– however, the number of take out orders was astounding. So was the food. Delicious, fresh ingredients, very attentive staff. I will definitely eat here again.

LOL. You guys, this is the sketchiest and most unique restaurant experience I’ve ever been to. I seriously thought I was on punk’ed. Okay, so we get there around 9:30pm on Saturday night and there is a bouncer at the door. Along with about 10 other people sitting right outside the restaurant smoking. He ask if we are here for the concert and let’s us in. Inside there is about 4 people sitting at the bar. There isn’t a hostess, or a bartender or menus or any sign that this is actually a restaurant. We had a Unilocal 10 bucks for 20 bucks coupon so we were pretty much stuck there. My SO goes way back into the kitchen to ask if we can order food. Eventually, we get menus and felt extremely rushed to order. She gets the drunken noodles, I get the green curry. As soon as we finished ordering, the room darkens, spot light on the stage and loud music starts. Two rappers get on stage and start rapping about weed and other shady things. Our food comes out and we eat in awkward darkness with rap music playing romantically in the background. We painfully ate our food and scrambled outta there. And yeah, the food was terrible too. I saw that all the reviews for food were about the Pad Thai. I guess that’s the only thing they know how to make :/

I decided to try this place based on the decent reviews found here on Unilocal.Man, who am I kidding I am a sucker for a good deal and took advantage of the Unilocal deal offered. I was hungry and so was my wife, so we made our way over to Thai pan. We decided based on the reviews that we would take our meals to go. As we entered the resturants we could tell we were probably the first customers of the day. The place was dark and empty. The make shift stage in the corner seemed out of place but they offered live music on Friday evenings. Behind the counter the bar was well stock full of a variety of liquors which is always a plus in my book. We were greeted by a lady and given menus to look over. We told her we purchased a Unilocal deal and she was familiar with it.(I have been to some establishment where I have purchase an online deal and the employees were clueless about it) She informed us that it was a dine-in only deal so we were obligated to stay. I told the wife that I rented out the whole place for just us two.(She know I go the extra mile j/k) I ordered the chicken fried rice and she had the drunken noodles medium heat. Thai food can be really spicy and I can’t handle to much of it. Our mountain of food arrived and smelled wonderful. The food itself made me forget about my problems regarding the dinning area. The drunken noodles were to spicy for my liking but my wife loved every bite. The spiciness didn’t stop me from stealing a few bites to mix in with my rice. My chicken fried rice was awesome. It is up there with some of the best I have had in a while. There was a lot of food left over that we had lunch for the next day. Excellent food, can’t complain about the service but the atmosphere was the only downfall in my book. Other then that great Thai restaurant.

The food is very delicious but the restaurant is hideous and I question the cleanliness. The bar looks dinky, the fluorescent lighting is awful, and the table cloths were dirty with stains from previous guests. We have found out that the business owner is also the hostess, waitress, manager, and cook which is why it takes a long time to sometimes get decent service. She has mentioned it’s easier for her to do everything herself(and perhaps a lot cheaper, she may have forgotten to mention). She is very sweet and will bend over backwards to keep her customers happy, however, I don’t think business is a strength for her. It looks as though she has totally given up trying to improve the look of her restaurant and it is confusing whether she’s aiming for a college bar crowd or actual customers for a sit down sort of dinner. We always feel awkward upon entering the restaurant, almost as if we are bothering her or making her go out of her way even though she is very nice. It’s just very uninviting. I can understand why many people would drive away after peeking through the windows. Even with this being said, we have continued to frequent her restaurant many times for the excellent Thai food. If there is something you’d like that isn’t on the menu, she will try to make it for you. We thought her spicy was actually really spicy and found that the Thai hot was almost painful to eat. The drunken noodles, pad Thai, panang, papaya salad, Bangkok beef, ka-pow are all amazing and far better than any of the other Thai restaurant/turned franchises in the Hampton Roads area. Her food is full of flavor. We have never had a bland dish there. Unfortunately though, she’s frequently out of things such as Thai tea, certain noodles, thai coffee, carbonated beverages, and certain condiments. I don’t understand how a restaurant could be so unprepared to serve items like that to their dining guests. She’s usually willing to go purchase the item at the convenience store near by, but that just contributes to the whole awkward feeling you get when you first walk in/the whole experience of dining there. The restaurant does have entertainment, but the entertainment schedule is unclear/inconsistent. We have been there once when the band was present and the predominant customers were of the older, asian race but maybe that was a special night? Although her sign reads she closes late, she will close an hour or two earlier if business is nonexistent.

My husband and I went here for lunch and it was very good. The owner was awesome. She was waiting on us and cooking the food too. She had just found a new recipe for a great Thai appetizer and served it to us and it was very good. My husband and I really enjoyed her and the food. GREATFOODFORGREATPRICE!!!

Bought the $ 10 for $ 20 deal through Unilocal and decided to try it out. Walked into an empty restaurant, but the hostess/bartender was extremely polite and accommodating. Ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice. The portions are ridiculous! I had so much left over, I brought some home and had enough for 2 more meals. Customer service was excellent, and was pleasant to talk to. I wish more people would go so they stay in business. I’ll probably try out more dishes next time I go in.

Went here on a Monday night when we pulled up the open sign was on and half the store seemed dark… Almost pulled back out and drove away but the lady inside waved at us and I went in and she said they were open. Not a great impression at first but then we went in and sat down were ever we wanted and starting looking at the menu thought seemed a little high but maybe it’s good? Sure enough got the pad Tia and it was very good! Soda from a can but has a pretty well stocked bar and coors light blue moon and yeingling on draft And the lady there was really nice to us and we enjoyed her company

We went for a dinner to go. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice and helpful. The food was outstanding, best curry I have had outside of Thailand herself. Portions are good and the spice is great. Will come back again and again!

They are all about quantity here! I think I had Pad Thai left overs for the next 3 meals from one order of Pad Thai. And their Pad Thai makes excellent left overs. So we came here on the Weds before Thanksgiving and they were out of alot of stuff. The owner was very apologetic and offered us several options. She was a sweetheart and bent over backwards to get us a good meal. Although the lack of supply was a bit disappointing, the prompt and excellent service made up for it. If you like spicy food, they definitely have it here. I went for the«medium» and it still had a good kick to it. They definitely have authentic Tom Yum and Green Papaya salad… all of my favorite Thai foods. They have a stage for a live band apparently they have karaōke! I hope to be here for Karaōke night and rock out some Journey!

I had the pleasure of visiting Thai Pan for a poetry reading. I absolutely loved the food and the service. I had the Spicy Basil Rice with Chicken and I couldn’t put my fork down. This was my first Thai experience and I will be returning. I also had 2 Long Island Iced Tea’s and they were delicious as well.

This is more like 3 ½ stars. I found this place through Unilocal and made an easy purchase on the Unilocal mobile app to get a deal, $ 20 worth of food for $ 10. The stickers on the windows advertised happy hour, karaōke and a live band on the weekend. I walked into an empty restaurant and was greeted by the hostess who happened to also be my waitress and soon learned that she was also the chef for the night. After a few minutes of perusing their menu I settled on ordering the kra-powwith basil — meat(I chose beef), bell peppers, white onions, scallions, and fresh basil leaves in a chili garlic sauce. Mama dukes settled on the sizzling Bangkok beef — sizzling beef sautéed in herbs, julienne fresh ginger, onions and scallions in a light, brown sauce on a hot sizzling plate. I requested for Thai spicy and the hostess/waitress/cook questioned if I knew Thai spicy. I wasn’t offended but when my meal came out I have to say that their version of Thai spicy was WEAK!!! Food portions were substantial and I was pleased that we weren’t charged for an extra bowl of rice. Overall the food was good not great. The«hot damn» feeling was missing. I’d go back and try their Pad Thai. Cool thing is that they are open late so this could be a spot if I ever have Thai cravings late in the evening.

The food was good but there were a few things that bothered me. We visited this place for the first time today at lunch time and it was completely empty which is never a good sign, when we walked in the lady was on the phone and stayed on the phone the entire time we were there(the same phone call) I thought this was very rude and very unprofessional. When we sat down she gave us menus and disappeared into the back with the phone for a few minutes and returned with water, didn’t ask us if we wanted a drink just asked if we were ready to order. We asked if they had soda and she said they had coke so we ordered coke… she goes to the bar and pours us coke from a 2 liter bottle while going back to her phone call, the coke tasted flat. I tried ordering the deep fried dumplings but she said they didn’t have them even though they were listed on the menu. We then ordered the spring rolls and the Beef Panang Curry(peanut curry). The Panang Curry was really good, the beef was chewy but overall it tasted really good. Food was really slow to come out. I don’t think we will return to dine in but we might get it delivered. I honestly just was really put off by the service.

Though the ambiance and presentation are slightly out of whack — harsh florescent lighting, spartan décor, a weird humming from behind the bar, no chopsticks, and one bartender/waitress/manager — the food was delivered fast and was delicious. I was there a little early so I’m not sure if they have more help later into the evening, or more customers for that matter…

Round two, and it was delicious, yet again. Had the Drunken Noodles and Ka Pow(sp) chicken. The best part was that neither dish contained broccoli. Seems minor/silly, but I feel that broccoli in Thai dishes don’t make sense, and just takes up space(fillers). Also, the Thai Tea was delicious. Additionally, the staff seemed really nice and down to earth. Yay, I’m a fan! :)
