Unassuming from the outside, Pocahontas is absolutely charming on the inside. The kitschy, American Indian themed décor is fun and nostalgic at the same time. I was here early on a Sunday morning and could tell that the large staff was prepared for business to heat-up quickly as the morning went on. Service was extremely attentive; I had my first cup of coffee in minutes and it was topped off frequently during my stay. I ordered the renowned chocolate chip pancakes as a vacation treat to myself. I was not disappointed! Two plate-sized pancakes were hot, fluffy and loaded with melting chocolate chips. They were topped off with generous dollops of whipped cream and butter. Absolutely delicious! The service and the food both earned this spot five stars in my book. And I will certainly return the next time I’m in Virginia Beach.

Excellent food, even for us who need to eat gluten free! They also had almond milk for cappuccinos :) very tasty! Loved the food, and even with the restaurant being that busy the wait was 10 – 15 minutes. Not too shabby!

The service was horrible! Food was great but just rude manager and waitress. Won’t be back again.

I love me some Pocahontas pancakes. I tend to get the whole wheat pancakes because I like the feeling that somebody mixed sawdust into my pancake batter. I mean, seriously, I order them every time I go because I know they are probably better for me, but they are a bit gritty… but I still order them. I also like that they have decent coffee. Not like hipster popular coffee, but drinkable, and it’s not too hot so you can usually drink it right out of the pot. Even if the line is long, they get the tables pushed through pretty quickly so the wait is not actually that bad. Although, I avoid it in the summer because it is just nuts.

The pancakes here are delicious! I ordered chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast on a cold and rainy Sunday and they were definitely above average. The portion was very generous as well. I tried their waffles which were also very good. The line was long to get in on a weekend, but it took about 15 minutes to get a table. The food didn’t take particularly too long to get to the table.

Had the pancakes and they were very good. Also had the French toast with bananas, strawberries and nuts. It was filling and good. Very clean and friendly staff. They were a little higher in $$$ but overall good.

Pocahontas for breakfast when in VA Beach has been a tradition for as long as I can remember. Even in freezing wind and ice like this morning, we trudge our way from our ocean front hotel just to come get our favorites. Hot Chocolate on cold mornings are a must, and the waitresses are always sure to give us plenty of whipped cream on top. The hot cocoa isn’t watery and has a nice foam on top-much better than most restaurant hot chocolates. The pancakes at Pocahontas are the best-I don’t know what they put in the batter to make them so fluffy and delicious. There are quite a few pancake varieties, but I always get the same-the Blueberry Topped Pancakes: fluffy pancakes(that they will sometimes fill with blueberries!) topped with a sweet blueberry sauce and whipped cream. My cousin and I share a stack and it is plenty for us, as they’re pancakes are quite large. Don’t want pancakes? Pocahontas has every other breakfast option you could want: waffles, omelettes, eggs, cereals, etc. They also have some lunch options as well, but we have only ever eaten breakfast. In conclusion, Pocahontas is the best breakfast on the beach, and it is open year-round unlike most of the restaurants that close for the winter season. Thank you for staying open all seasons, Pocahontas! We appreciate that on our winter VA beach stays!

Rarely do meals look like the menu. Here everything was amazing. Fresh, colorful and plentiful.

Really good breakfast area so close to the water too. Wait wasn’t too long and prices were reasonable. I loved my pancake with fresh bananas and my steak omelette as well. The wait is long service can take awhile. Must be patient when dining here.

The food is good here if you don’t mind the crowds and sitting elbow to elbow with others. The service was terrible this LAST visit too. Others came in after us and we’re waited on before us. Our drinks were never refilled and our waitress was not mindful of us. She seemed annoyed and disorganized. They have five star food but I can’t handle the Inattentiveness.

Probably the best french toast I’ve ever had. Cooked prefectly. Soft. The cinnamon on the whipped cream with the fruit and nuts was AMAZINNNGGG ! Fruit was fresh. And the décor was unique… And the location is prefect… across from the beach and on the main drag in the city.

+ huge menu + delicious pancakes/waffles + free garage parking — crowded like sardines — waiting area is in back of the restaurant This place is definitely in nitchie. I’m sure native Americans ancestors are somewhere pissed by the overboard décor. The pecan waffles and French toast are to die for. There’s just a gang of toppings for your pancakes etc. Come hungry leave happy.

I read rave reviews of this place. Naturally, I had to check it out. The location is perfect: just off of the beach and on the main street. This also means that it can get busy, so come early or prepare for a wait. The staff is on top of their game, though. You can tell they all know what they are doing. I felt that it would be sacrilegious to order anything except pancakes here, so I ordered the silver dollar pancakes and a side of home fries. The pancake portions were huge and cheap. The pancakes were good, overall. Not great. I felt a little like I could have made them at home. The home fries were really good and had a nice flavor to them. Overall, a pretty good diner. Not incredible but not bad by any means.

Solidly good breakfast here two days of our vacation. It’s a large restaurant but fills up quickly, so go early or be prepared to wait. Between our group, we had a sampling of everything: Pancake Combo $ 10(pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage); strawberry waffle $ 9.25(delicious!); eggs benedict $ 8; breakfast sandwich($ 8). The portions are big. We shared with our kiddo and there was plenty to go around. Three stars instead of four because both mornings, the service was spotty. It’s crowded and the servers are busy, but we kept having to ask for coffee or scoot our chairs in so they could squeeze between tables with trays.

Not sure what the attraction is to this place. Stopped by because all the reviews on pretty much every Web site raved about Pocahontas like it was Obama Hope 2008. I don’t see it. The wait was 45 minutes, but it went quickly and we made the decision to wait. So that’s on us. But inside, it was completely claustrophobic. I had to squeeze between two tables to sit on the booth side, and I am a skinny man. And even given that, I was embarrassed at how close my posterior came to stealing whipped cream off an old lady’s waffle. Getting up to go to the restroom was out of the question, and I don’t know how the servers work in there. There isn’t a single space to breathe it is so crowded! The breakfast menu was big. But, nothing jumped out at me and the combinations made no sense. It seemed like every combo had eggs with French toast and a waffle. Well what is that? Where’s the basic eggs and pancakes combo? And when I asked what the best dish was, she told me she liked all the omelettes. Well, there are like 20 omelettes and you’re a frikking pancake house so now I’m confused as to why you don’t have pancakes to recommend. I don’t have time to read all that crap. Tell me your signature dishes, and if they aren’t appealing, let me pick my own. Pocahontas misses entirely on this. Ultimately I went with a combo and the food was, eh. Nothing unique, and certainly not worth the wait. Not impressed.

I come to Va Beach 3 – 4 times a year, and I always see the line here, but this was my first time trying the food. I was not disappointed. Pros: The pancakes were fluffy, the syrup was AMAZING, and the Belgian waffles were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. All 10 people at the table were very pleased with their diverse dishes, which included fresh fruit with yogurt, an egg whites omelette, stuffed French toast, sampler platter #2, and other things I’ve forgotten. Also, the service was very good for our table of 10. Our waiter was always filling up our waters whenever they got below the halfway line, and he even split our table into 5 separate checks.(I believe our server was a Middle Eastern man with a name beginning with M.) Cons: This is some pretty pricey breakfast food. My husband’s dish was $ 10, my 3 pancakes cost $ 7. Also, the server automatically gave us coffee without asking, so we all ended up getting an extra $ 3 charge on our bill even though not all of us would’ve ordered coffee if we’d know there’d be a cost. Also, the line was about an hour long. Bottom line: All the food we had was very delicious, but I wouldn’t be willing to wait more than 15 minutes for a table.

I went here since it was rated«Best Pancake House in Virginia Beach» according to Food Network. The verdict: the pancakes tasted good, but they weren’t amazing. I found their food to be mediocre, but I did like the Native American décor and theme. Although this place is overhyped and pretty touristy, the portions you get are reasonable.

Pocahontas Indian Theme On Steroids! This spot gets PACKED in the morning(Come within a hour of doors opening). I was expecting so much more from the photos & reviews. From the Belgium Waffles, Pancakes, Sausages, Home Fries to the Over Easy Eggs. There is nothing special about the food, then the presentation *Sometimes* overall it’s just AVERAGE! The service on the other hand is impeccable, always asking if u need this & is everything ok! I would never stand in line or wait more then 5 seconds for a seat, like others to eat here. They also close at 1pm everyday … DON’T BEFOOLEDBYTHEPHOTOS *Not as good as it looks*

Dude, I have never been to a restaurant that facilitated as many people as this place. I felt like I was in an elementary school cafeteria with the joint tables and massive amounts of people and chaos. It was loud, and you are literally sitting right on top of everyone else around you, so if you’re not into people all up in yo shit, I wouldn’t suggest coming here. Other than packing everyone in like sardines, the food was on point. Great menu options as well. I got the Chicken & Waffles because, duh. I have no idea what anyone else at my table ordered because I was literally mowing down on my meal, focusing on all the flavors. It was fantastic. All consuming. The chicken was crispy and delicious, the waffle was sweet and fluffy. SO good. Apparently everyone enjoyed their food because no one in my family was talking, which is a rarity. We all ate and even boxed the leftovers which I hardly ever do with breakfast food. They don’t offer booze, so don’t expect to come here for a mimosa brunch. Its JUST food. Our waiter was rad. He had a manbun and called me dude, so obviously we got along. Everyone who worked there was awesome, it was just crazy. So much going on. I would lose my mind and spill shit on everyone constantly if I worked here, so bravo to you fine, coordinated waitstaff for keeping your shit together amongst the crazy. I would come here again, early though. the wait gets insane after 9am and there is literally no where to stand.

Pocahontas pancake house was voted the«best pancake house in Virginia Beach», and after expierencing it for myself I can see why. One bite of your breakfast will leave you saying iWhat, iWho, iWhere? Now no shade, I have no qualms with that other particular chain pancake house, but pocohontas blows it out of the water. I initially came here with my brother and his wife a few years ago and I was very impressed with their quick and friendly service as well as what I ate. I got the sampler platter #1 and everything was so yummy. The most recent time I dinned here was with my older brother for brunch last weekend because it had been a while since I’ve last seen him and since I’ve last been to Pocohontas. And both the service and the food was just impeccable as I remembered it. As soon as we walked in we were immediately seated and our drink orders were taken. I got a glass of pineapple orange juice and it pretty good and no pulp just the way I like it. Now for the main course I ordered the Pocohontas three layer French toast with strawberries, bannas, pecans, whipped cream, powered sugar, syrup, and butter. It was served in such a generous portion and it was probably the best French toast I’ve ever tasted in all my 23 years. I also ordered a side of Turkey sausage that was cooked to perfection; surprisingly juicy and not burned out or dry as I’ve expierenced with other establishments that served Turkey sausage. I must add that I really appreciate that they offer both Turkey bacon and sausage as an alternative to pork. Also the food came out fairly quickly; our wait was not long at all. Initially one may see that Pocohontas Pancake House is located on the oceanfront and see that it’s been on television and automatically think«tourist attraction»; however, I assure you if you come here for brunch you won’t be dissappointed. Ps: the artwork/decorations are pretty cool and they sell souvenirs such as t-shirts, mugs, and hats.
