Decided to visit the restaurant on Valentines Day; why did I do such a thing. I was completely dis-satisfied with the lack of the attentiveness of the server, it took us approx 20 minutes to be seated and ignore for 10 minutes before the server even acknowledge us, it just seems a restaurant with this caliber I expected better service and NOCOLDFOOD! I was reluctant to send it back since I notice the majority of the customers was already complaining of their food being cold. Never again! NO Kobe Burger or Ultimate Seafood Platter !!!

Was anticipating a high quality steak dinner based on the reputation of this franchise but left feeling pretty under whelmed. Very busy Sunday night but our waitress was great, really friendly and attentive, cocktails and wine were great but everything else was pretty ‘meh.’ I was really looking forward to the mashed potatoes with bleu cheese and caramelized onions but what they actually turned out to be were, tepid mashed potatoes with a couple chunks of cold bleu cheese and virtually raw, white onion slivers. The waitress apologized for not having any more sirloins(530 pm in a steak restaurant) and substituted my sirloin for a filet mignon. Now, I don’t wanna sound unappreciative but I’m not a big fan of filets, I never order them when I go out to restaurants but she was so encouraging about a filet being substituted, I thought, why not, let’s give it a try since I haven’t had a filet in years. I won’t be ordering any filets anytime soon still, this one was flavorless and lukewarm. My husband got the Kobe burger and said it was excellent and I don’t doubt it but if I want an excellent burger, I’m not paying these prices. Great waitress but nothing else worth returning for.

Let me just say this… if you have 50 tables and one couple of color sitting all the way in the back, what are the odds of my husband and I being seated in back right next to them? Let me clarify… out of all these tables there are only two couples of color which are seated next to each other all the way in the back. I asked the hostess, Priscilla about it and she said it was racist on my part. NEVERCOMINGBACKHEREAGAIN! Would give then zero stars just for this if I could.

My first experience here was for a company function. After experiencing some delightful things I thought I would try them out for myself. They have the best happy hour I’ve experience in Hampton roads, and this is from someone who goes to 2 – 3 different places a week. What sets them apart is the amount of food they offer and the price point, I can easily come here and get 2 drinks and food for less than 15 dollars. My favorite is their burger, its a decent size and better than some places where I’ve paid 15 dollars for one. I also enjoy their bruschetta, it has an enormous amount of garlic on it, though which I love! I which the toast it was served on was smaller. The only downside to coming here is the bars lack of knowledge in classic drinks. If I go to the bar across the street and ask for a classic daiquiri they know what Im talking about. Every time I come here and order it I have to tell them how its made… rum, lime and simple syrup. Its not annoying or an inconvenience to me, I just find it weird.

Heidi S gave this place 1 star — that’s generous. I took my wife there for Christmas lunch and for over $ 100, one would expect outstanding service. Not at McCormick & Schmicks. My letter to their Corporate Office and Facebook posts produced no result. For that kind of money — go to Ruth’s Chris where they apparently care about service.

Four months and several calls with the GM and Corporate later, there has still been no resolution to this issue. Supposedly, two letters with a gift card for almost nothing have been sent but never arrived. The GM wanted to invite us back for lunch(after our awful dinner experience) and insisted it was immediate. The only problem was that immediate meant during a hurricane. Since then, the GM has been unreachable. Disappointing has become almost insulting.

Upon walking in, hostess was rather rude when being seated despite the fact she had us wait past our reservation time. Our waitress on the other hand was great! Very knowledgable and recommended a great wine pairing. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and the side of mashed potatoes was equally great. A bit pricey, but that’s expected from a place like this. Would definitely go back for special occasions.

First time and honestly will possibly give it one more try but not sure. We went at lunch time and there were only two other tables being waited on. It was extremely slow service. 20 minutes to get iced tea, 20 minutes to order, 15 minutes for a refill, over an hour to get our meal, etc etc. Even the manager came by and said, I have noticed how slow the service is, we are giving you a coupon for a free appetizer on your next visit. HELLO… If you are nothing how SLOW it is, perhaps do something about it? Not impressed, however my salad was awesome.

Came in on a Sunday morning. Sat at the tables by the bar with my husband. We were greeted by Katrina who was a nice server. The other servers seemed to appear disheveled and sleepy, I guess I was expecting a more friendly and responsive crew at this location. We ordered drinks, the pineapple mint lemonade was delicious as well as the Sangria Dolce it was large and tasty and it was Katrina’s recommendation. I met Jim Rooney the GM and he was friendly with a smile on his face. There were mishaps occurring at the bar, electrical work getting done which was odd as it was during business hours. Calamari was large but cold, and had a lot of fried shells/leftover that shouldn’t have been served. My husband and I shared the chicotenge oysters those were very tasty! His beef medallions and veggies were mediocre and also cold surprisingly felt like it was out for an hour. His mashed potatoes had no flavor but was about the best thing on his plate. We were asked if we wanted bread a few minutes before the entrees were already out(kind of late). Bread was bland and butter was boring nothing like Flemings delicious burger but can’t compare the two establishments. I know that Flemings is all the way in Richmond but I don’t think I’ll be back for food here, maybe we’ll come for drinks and this business is apparently rated for having one of the best happy hours. I’ll probably stick to trusting them with smaller dishes and appetizers, I was saddened a little by the experience considering the prices you pay for just mediocre quality.

First — we know the service and food is straight up 10 stars but — Steve, man, you were awesome today! We went for our annual Veteran’s Day meal and my Veteran and I enjoyed your conversation, service and attention to every detail. Today we feasted on salmon rigatoni, the house burger, vino and SHRIMPKISSES. Please get them. Maybe get two — they are delicious. The upside down apple pie with cinnamon ice cream is a repeat for me and it definitely has comfort food status down. We will be back, again and again. I’m looking into dinner reservations for my Aunt’s birthday and this is #1 on my list. Thanks again!

Very good food excellent service, elegant and a few historic decoration. The place is a little elegant but they will treat you good even if you are not dressed appropriately .The food and service was outstanding we came from the beach straight to here we were pleased with all they offered.

This is definitely a three… unfortunately. The service was okay, but rather slow as we only had one server for a table of 15. The restaurant is really nice and spacious but it was not very busy. The food was god but very basic and my steak and even the apps were not well seasoned. I expect more based on the prices and there were just too many misses. Overall, I would say I’m not a huge fan.

We hesitated because we’ve been to McCorrmick & Schmidt in other cities. It’s a good thing we wanted seafood and walked in! We basically had a private table with high wood panel walls. Heavy drapes into the restaurant could be closed for full privacy as if in a train dining compartment. So romantic, except I was with my colleague! The spicy calamari was perfectly deep fried with awesome dipping sauce. I can’t remember better tasting calamari anywhere. My special Sizzling Atlantic Salmon was indeed sizzling and perfectly moist as requested. There was an ample variety of good wines by the glass at decent price points. Our waiter was professional and service was friendly. I’d definitely come back again.

Perhaps it’s just the name, but the reputation of this place precedes itself and, in this case, was a complete misrepresentation of the restaurant. . We came to sit outside around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. I had called ahead to be sure they offered their happy hour specials on the weekend, which they did. Go, M&S! Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the happy hour prices. After we were sat outside, it took about 10 minutes to receive menus. I suppose they rely on the menu to be explicit(and pay attention because they won’t tell you) but you cannot receive happy hour prices on menu items unless you spend a minimum on alcohol. Not an issue for us. The problems arose in poor service, poor timing and overall apathy. We ordered drinks. About 5 minutes later(still no drinks), we ordered food. Two of our 3 entrees arrived(still no drinks!). Finally the drinks came and, 10 minutes after my friends received their meals, I was STILL waiting on my chicken Caesar salad. The salad, once it finally came, was good. The burger that my boyfriend had was good, but the fish tacos our other friend ordered were tasteless. After the food delivery fiascos, we never got an apology or explanation. It was odd and not worth the wait or price. Pretty sure I will not go out of my way to return.

I’ve only been here a couple times, but they’ve been good experiences. Most recently, I came here for a dinner hosted by a pharmaceutical company. The dinner menu was pretty set, but I really enjoyed the options. We had the ahi tuna tartar as an appetizer, and it was my favorite thing on the menu. The salad we were served was a little too covered in dressing, but I thought the dressing was good. I opted for the stuffed salmon for my main course, which I enjoyed as well. It could have done without so much of the lemon butter, but it was still good. We had the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was so creamy and delicious! It was rich without being so rich that I couldn’t completely enjoy it. Overall, my meal was very satisfying and enjoyable. I had a great experience and would consider going back. Maybe just for a special occasion, though – it’s pretty pricey!

Loved this place, especially because my wife and I spent our anniversary here. I made reservations on open table and noted that it was our first anniversary, and we got a personalized menu and free dessert option with our dinner, which is awesome! Had dinner reservations for 7:30, and after reading a lot of other reviews, I expected to be seated around 8 o’clock. We were promptly seated at 7:45, and greeted with warm welcomes. Ordered a variety of oysters they had available for the day, as well as the calamari appetizer to share. Both dishes were delicious! The Calamari came with random vegetables deep fried as well, so if you’re not into veggies, get something else, the dipping sauces were good as well. Dishes seemed real fresh. Next for the entrée I got the dry rubbed bone-in ribeye with lobster mashed potatoes as a side(not included) The ribeye was great, you may want to get fresh black pepper cracked on top for a little seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were good as well, seemed to me like it was lobster meat with a lobster bisque over mashed potatoes, nothing too crazy. My wife went with the combination of four dishes, I can’t remember, but it was good as well. Our experience here was nice, the booth we were sitting in had curtains which we decided to close, and the whole restaurant smelled like fresh steamed seafood, specifically crab legs, which is not over bearing and quite fragrant, def puts you in the mood to demolish some food. Service was exceptional, and the ambiance was very pleasant! Good restaurant!

Looking for a classy seafood restaurant? Well you’ve found it! I love the ambiance of M & S. JUSTLOVEIT! This restaurant is a bit ‘tucked away’ and to me has a somewhat intimate setting with a cozy feel. I would consider this to be at the middle/lower end of fine dining. Something unique about this restaurant is that they change their menu every day. I like that their seafood is actually fresh and you can taste the freshness, unlike at some seafood restaurants(such as Red Lobster) which it’s, well, you know how it is. They have a pretty wide range of traditional and not so traditional entrees. I really like their mahi mahi, the calamari and you have to try the apple pie with the cinnamon ice cream! Solid 3 stars from me.

It was date night and the night just so fell during restaurant week. WIN! We debated between many restaurants and decided for M&S because of their entrée options and location to where we were coming from and going to. I have to say the meal was on spot. I started with shrimp bisque, followed by filet and stuffed shrimp, and closed with a double chocolate mousse pie. My problem. The service. Dear God. I have been here a few times before and I know not to expect someone at your table constantly. BUT, dinner took us over 2 hours. We rarely saw our server, and by we got the check, my husband went to get the car and was waiting outside for me for 10 minutes before I had to have someone find our server to actually take my card. On top of it all, the server knew he was wrong because when he would show up, he was constantly apologizing for taking so long. If you tell me «sorry» more than twice in 1 dinner service, just get your act together and stop apologizing.

I booked on OpenTable and so when we arrived, we were brought directly to a private booth table on the side. We started off with the Margerita Pizza Flatbread, which was a large portion but not really all that fancy. A big piece of flatbread topped with mozzarella cheese and a slide of tomato and then carved into eight pieces. Meh, just average. For mains, my mom chose the salmon and she really enjoyed it. The mashed potatoes are clearly made from scratch as we discovered a couple of lumps in there. I had the yellowfin tuna, which was a great portion and nicely cooked, also with a portion of mashed potatoes and some steamed vegetables. Overall, the food was very good. Not perfect, but really quite good. The service was more than excellent and our server did a fine job. My complaint is around the ambiance. Halfway through the meal, the lights dimmed abruptly to a level that it was hard to see well. And the music was just too loud. This isn’t a nightclub, folks — it’s a fine dining establishment. Not cool. I don’t know if I would return. Valet parking available for $ 8 or find free street parking.

Looking for a place for dinner date and fancy seafood? Mccormick & Schmick’s is the answer to your question. This place has a romantic and intimate ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant as they have a wide variety of seafood menu. I have to say that I had a spectacular dining experience. Without a doubt, this place knows how to treat quality seafood. I had a chef choice Mahi — mahi for my entrée and the fish was cooked to perfection served with crab hash over sweet corn purée. The dish itself is simply exquisite. As for dessert, coconut cream pie was suggested by our server and it was delicious. Melts in my mouth, the shredded coconut on the top of the pie adds different texture. Overall, I thought this is an amazing place.
