IHOP

I have not gone to IHOP in such a long time that I can’t remember if the service was always this laughably terrible and I just didn’t care or if this has changed in recent years.
Decided to go as got a free stack of fruit pancakes and who doesn’t love free food.
The lady that served us was really nice, don’t get me wrong, but she somehow managed to forget quite a lot of things — probably because she didn’t bother to write our orders down. Once reminded — several times — to bring whatever items we were missing, she was able to bring a burnt toast to the table. My friend waited on her toast about 20 minutes after we got everything else, mind you.
The food itself was okay. The peaches were clearly from a can, which is fine for IHOP, wasn’t really expecting the freshest fruit — and so were the rasberries.
Thank God for coupons and freebies!

I went last night with my daughter and her friend around 7:30pm and it wasn’t very crowded, but the service was awful, others who were seated after us were served before us and the waiter forgot half our order and we had to ask for our drinks to be refilled. I will never go back to this location, it was terrible!

We had never been to this IHOP before and just so happened to be on that side of town. It had been ages since I had had some pancakes and I was craving them. Greeted and seated quickly and given our drinks by our server who was very attentive and adorable! Why can’t all servers be like that?
Mom ordered the 55+ Breakfast Sampler (bacon, sausage links, two scrambled eggs, hash, and a pancake) and I got the AYCE Pancakes (stack of five) with strawberries and four sausage links. Came out about five minutes after we ordered. Talk about speed!
I couldn’t even get through my pancakes because they filled me up! Mom ate all of her food and the rest of mine. Bill came to $ 22, but then we got a few dollar discount because it was Senior Discount day. We really appreciated it.
It’s a bit of a drive from the one near our house, but we don’t mind doing it if hunger strikes again!

This is definitely one of the best ihops in the south hampton roads area. The others are not so great, but this area is also a relatively upscale one, so that means picky patrons who expect decent food.
Interestingly, I went in about a month ago and there was a huge walk out by most of the wait-​staff. I didn’t witness it, but I could tell by dealing with the remaining staff that it rattled them. If a huge number of your waitstaff just walk out, that means you are not treating them well.
As long as you’ve got good cooks, decent quality food and your waitstaff are friendly and attentive, don’t drive them so hard. There’s no need.
Still one of the best ihops around.

i was at hilltop the other morning dropping off some knives i had sharpened and i needed to eat breakfast and the timing was not good for me to get back to shore drive and my normal breakfast location, so i sailed into this Ihop.
got fixed up just right — great eggs, bacon, taters, well done english muffins and my special coffee.

Went there tonight 09÷05÷15, and had a great time. We were seated right away, and served promptly and efficiently. All the food was delicious. Great place, good prices and good customer service.

ihop is ihop. classic breakfast food that’s delicious & affordable. our server Curtis R. was excellent. Ive been in the service industry for years and I’m very picky about my server experiences when I go out to eat. he was extremely polite, attentive, and friendly. ask for him when you go!

It is freezing in here. I always bring a jacket.
I’ve had great customer service here from the hostesses and my servers. They have good personalities, are courteous, wear a smile, and are quick to deliver upon request. Moses was a particularly pleasant server who believes in always doing his best no mater what the task.
I’ve tried a few menu items here but I really only like the french toast (original). Today I tried the Bananas Foster french toast, and while it wasn’t horrible I certainly wasn’t impressed. The bananas were great but they special syrup was a bit chalky to me.
If you are interested in the crepes I recommend NUTELLA BANANA. It was very good, very dessert like.

Calling all pancake lovers. IHOP had there annual FREE short stack of pancakes today to benefit the Leukemia Association. Since I was around the corner any way why not. My checks at this location do not represent close to a dozen, or so times I have frequented them. So many more details on this visit, but keeping in mind other visits have been very respectable as well.
The signage off of First Colonial Rd. is terrific and I don’t think anyone could miss them. At first when rolling in around 11 AM I thought I would turn around after seeing the front full, but I quickly noticed the side and back were close to empty and knew that I must have hit the sweet spot. The lot was clean and always happy when I see a business take care of the parking area.
Walked in and was quickly greeted by Rocco a Training Manager., but I did not know that at the time. He was professionally attired and led me to a table. The dining room was over half full, but plenty of room for more. I did not see one empty table that was not cleared. No debris on the floor whatsoever. He mentioned that they were slammed this morning and this was the calm before a noon rush.
After taking a seat I told him without hesitation I wanted the FREE short stack, side of bacon, coffee and water. I could tell from the beginning that he was going to be excellent and my instincts proved correctly. He was friendly the whole time and really knew the business when discussing a few things about other IHOP locations. That is when I found out he was a training manager I also found out the store GM Rick who has responsibility for a few has this place as home base.
It took only minutes before a coffee and water were in front of me. Only a few short minutes longer and a piping hot short stack was before my eyes with a side of two slices of bacon. I asked for some extra butter and Rocco delivered it quickly. He also checked up on me a short time after I began to eat. The pancakes with Butter Pecan syrup were delicious, than bacon a perfect crisp. My bill was put on the table when the food was delivered, I always appreciate servers who do this.
When checking out up front I talked to the GM rick who was running the cash register. I told him that Rocco was a very valued employee and made this experience the best IHOP service I’ve had. He thanked me for the feedback. I added a very nice gratuity and also threw in a sweet donation for the Leukemia Association. A volunteer named Jeff from the LA was at the counter and thanked me for the donation.
This particular service was a 5+ and not ashamed to say it even if it is a chain. The rating today since this is not an update combines other experiences which have been at least par, but nothing to the level of today. If your looking for the best IHOP in VB, possibly on the Southside this is it.

I’ve dined here for years, and always have had the same waitress, however after arguable dispute she was wrongly terminated. Management isn’t to strong at this location and they have a way of showing it through their workers. I return to this location in a constant because of the remaining ones who actually put forth an effort to serve us. Plus it’s open at 3am. Where can you go wrong?
Tighten up management and it’ll show better through your workers.

Though the food may have been great, the actual order was incorrect. By the time we walked in, the manager had sent all the real cooks home and begin to cook all the meals himself and took too many liberties in changing the orders around.
When other customers began to complain and asked to see the manager, he refused to come out of the kitchen and see any of the customers.
But, hey, the service provided by the servers was excellent.

Food was amazing! As usual the pancakes were outstanding! We go here often and often service is lacking late night, after 2am. Unfortunately it is the closest Ihop to us and we are so addicted to the pancakes. We are simple and easy patrons. We even order it to go when we get there and wait for our food to ensure our order is correct. The late night crew often acts like they are mad that we are there ordering take out in the middle of night. Last time I checked IHOP is 24hrs. I would give u the cashiers name but she somehow neglected to give us our receipt which had the survey on it and the free short stack coupon. Thank goodness for Unilocal!;) By the way day time crew always provides great service!

Went for a late night breakfast just before 2 am on 10÷14÷13. Server Brittany was fantastic and cheerful and didn’t miss anything. Usually, a late night meal isn’t always top notch, but the cook was on it. Everything was perfect. Just the 2 of them working but you’d have thought there was a bigger staff considering how well things were running. Excellent job!

Standard Ihop fare, excellent excellent service! Our gal was so nice! I enjoyed the chicken and waffles, and the omelette’s and assorted sweet breakfasts at the table looked tasty.

Nothing like an IHOP at 3am on a Friday morning.
After bar hopping down at the strip most of the evening we ended up having to come all the way back to Hilltop to find a diner. IHOP was the choice.
The place was practically empty and that was to our advantage. We had excellent customer service with a very cool waitress. Our meals arrived practically right after we ordered them and were sooooo good. Portions were large as well.
