We LOVE This place! The FRESH Crab Cakes are the BESTINVABEACH! Their steaks are SUPERB! WE have been here so many times and it is always Delicious! Check out their Thursday Night Steak Night! AWESOME! And al their food is cooked just the way you want! I have no idea why anyone would give it less than 4 stars… unless you have a less than 4 star palette. It’s not a big place, not a cheezy chain of frozen crap, ITIS a Wonderful Pearl in our Oyster at Chicks Beach! Sunday Brunch ROCKS the Beach! Great Job Forrest and staff! xo Susanna & John

The décor is dark and intimate, but I would not recommend this as date night. It’s way too loud. The server was awesome! I will say that. However, I was not impressed by the seafood mac and cheese. It tasted like it was missing something. I was pretty disappointed.

Went here with some friends and I joked that this place used to be a house since it was planted near a bunch of other houses. A sort of big house at that but seating wasn’t spectacular. It just wasn’t spectacular. I asked the waitress if the fajitas had cheese or dairy products in it and she said no in a rush. Food arrived with a side of cheese and sour cream. Uhh… if I asked if there was dairy on it, you said no and I said, «Oh, okay!» I obviously did not want dairy on my plate. I looked to my friends and asked what just happened. Friends ordered the same side and was told only one person could have that side. It was a measly serving and then out from the kitchen comes a full sized side of what was«out.» Ahi tuna was cooked too well for my other friend and we had it sent back. Maybe it tasted good but it wasn’t worth weaving through houses to find this place. This wasn’t my scene. Not my crowd. Not fun and not inviting. Service was meh and I am a server and I understand if you’re having a rough day. But I am watching you and it just seems like you don’t care. Not too apologetic either. Glad my dairy-free lifestyle was a choice and not an allergy. I’m pretty sure the manager came around when the food was served but didn’t check up on how we were doing while we ate the food. Never again. Not good. I haven’t been to the one on Granby downtown but this visit makes me a little hesitant.

I’m being REALLY nice by giving this 4 stars. This should be a 4 – 5 star review followed up by a 1 – 2 star review less than a year later. The staff seems just as friendly, but the quality of the food has fallen off tremendously. The most overcooked shrimp I’ve ever eaten. I would have mentioned something but my server never even asked me how the food was. Both times I’ve been here I showed up on a Tuesday, AKA half-priced wine night. A great deal. However that is the only similarity my 2 visits had. The first time I came with my mom while we were driving through. We figured if we went ahead and ate now, we could watch the sunset while we were crossing the bridge. It was an amazing meal. We went for it all. For appetizers we ordered the seafood pot pie and the she crab soup, both of which were extremely rich. We went ahead and ordered a crab cake and 2 bacon wrapped scallops too. Both were cooked to perfection. For entrees I ordered the Tuna platter, which was a ridiculous amount of tuna for $ 16. Not absolutely amazing, but damn good. My mom ordered the stuffed flounder. She said it was one of the best dishes of her life. I thought that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but it was soooo moist and had a beautiful crab cake filling. When the bill came it was less than $ 100 with wine. Then I agreed that that was an amazing meal. On to the next visit. Just passing through again, but solo this time. I was still greeted pretty promptly and seated shortly there after, that was about it as far as this being a good experience. I was somewhat in a hurry, so when I had to ask my hostess who my server was after 10+ minutes without water, I was not pleased. When she finally showed up, she kind of apologized, but not really. It was more of a I thought somebody else was taking care of you. Even with me not trusting her judgement, I ordered what she suggested, the seafood alfredo pasta add scallops. I sure am glad I ordered the scallops as the shrimp weren’t even edible. I guess you might be able to call them tiger stripe, but they seemed small. I’m not exaggerating at all when I say they were the most overcooked shrimp I’ve ever had. Extremely rubbery. The lump crab was decent, but nothing amazing. I had assumed these scallops were going to be huge diver style, but they were little tiny bay scallops. That said, they were pretty darn tasty for being little guys. My server never asked how my food was. I found that pretty surprising when the plate was pretty much clean except for the shrimp. Will I come back? I don’t know. I will definitely be trying another spot out when passing through before heading back here. Hope the get their stuff together in the kitchen.

8.22.15 @ 1325: decline decline decline. When you live within walking distance of this landmark establishment you come to expect a certain standard of service and food. In the last 6 – 8 months the food has steadily gone downhill and the service isn’t far behind. I guess that will happen when you stake most of your service on word of mouth by every local team guy in the vicinity. Having pretty girls to look at doesn’t qualify as good service. I’ve started showing up at different odd hours to gauge the food quality and service and it’s always the same, sub-par. I arrived today with some friends and we were one of three separate people occupying the place. Our order was taken fairly quickly and then we waited… and waited. Finally our server, after 30min of waiting for apps, told us all the food was coming out together. During this time we watched other tables get sat, and served apps prior to our order showing up. The nachos, once a power house appetizer, have taken a headfirst dive into the depths of despair and were cold, the cheese was barely melted and unevenly layered. What a disappointment. The pizza was cold, the wings were cold, and the only thing that was on point was the house special salad which was supposed to be served cold. Our server was absent most of the time and my wife really wanted to order dessert. Despondent we decided to head to a different local joint where we were accustomed to better service and food. Not sure what chef Ryan miller is doing but the food isn’t «wowing» most of the locals anymore. I guess we should’ve crushed some alcohol prior to eating and we wouldn’t have noticed. The only thing working for this place is the Wednesday crab leg night.

Visited HK on a recent trip to Virginia. We were there on a Sunday evening and the place was busy, but we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. The restaurant feels a little more like a bar and is a bit loud for conversation, but we made it through alright. The crowd is definitely young and mostly straight from the beach, so quite casual, which is great. My husband ordered the Seafood Mac n Cheese and I ordered Swordfish Fajitas. Both dishes were tasty, but the Mac n Cheese will bring us back. It was amazing! The serving size was generous enough to share with maybe a side salad. We’ll definitely be back for more of that!

The name Hell’s Kitchen is what drew us to an early dinner at HK on the Bay. We really liked this place. Food and service was good and it’s a place we would return to. There were 3 of us and between us we got to sample a few of their dishes beginning with the fish and chips. The fish had a little different breading than normal fish & chips. It would depend on what you were looking for how you might feel. We liked them. There was an awful lot of fish too. Another item at our table was the sirloin steak with asparagus. Amazing! It was cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor. The philly cheese steak was to die for! It was loaded with meat and cheese. I would say that was the top item at the table. I love creamy coleslaw but I wouldn’t recommend it ordering here. It’s not creamy. It’s almost like no dressing at all but just cabbage.

Went last night for my first visit, will definitely be going back! We specifically went on Weds for All You Can Eat Crab Legs for $ 20. It was just two of us so we got seated right away, but there was a wait for bigger parties. Our server was Charlotte(I think, I know her named started with a C) and she was very sweet. Got our drink order and knew right away since we didn’t even look at the menu that we wanted crab legs. Drinks came right away and they brought out water to everyone without even asking, I love restaurants that do that. They have the AYCE Crab Legs system down! They bring out a bucket lined with two plastic bags, crackers, small fork, and extra napkins. I was with my brother and they brought out a plate for each of us, with some hush puppies and garlic bread. We got to eating and I dunno what they did, but they made those crab legs gooddddddd. The butter was sweet, the legs steamed perfectly… so good! We were nearing the end of our first plates and our server came by and said I have another batch coming out for you… we didn’t even have to ask! The 2nd serving is a bunch of crab legs on one platter that you share with your dining partner. We then got one more after that because we wanted dessert. While eating, we got some more drinks. My brother was just drinking beer, but I had a glass of moscato to start, I didn’t care for the moscato, but I drank it cause you cant let wine go to waste! But I wanted a cocktail for my next drink. I asked our server what signature cocktail do they have there. She told me of a new one they were trying out, but when she went to go put it in, the bartender didn’t have the recipe for it and instead of coming back to me to tell me, she took initiative and order a drink for me that was her favorite there. It was a Chix Beach Mojito, had mint, lime, rum, and black cherry vodka. It was so freaking refreshing and good. I would go back just to have a couple more of those. Then we got dessert. A deep fried PB&J. I can’t even describe this… it insanely good. That’s all… you have to try it for yourself… Can’t wait to go back to try more!
