I found Kate from her great Unilocal reviews. I’ve been at the same hairdresser for years and it was time for a change. Kate is so welcoming and warm. Her studio is in a salon with several studios.
Kate cut a ton off my hair for a totally new look and I love it. She consulted with me about what I was looking for and how I usually do my hair. Honestly, I’m lazy so it needs to be easy to maintain. I love what she did. I’ll be back soon to get my color done.

Kate Noda is fantastic! She cut my teenage daughter’s hair at the beginning of her high school year because she wanted a new look, and it came out just the way she wanted. So when I saw how happy my daughter was with the whole experience, I decided to have Kate cut my hair as well – especially since I was also going for a dramatically new and different look since I was getting ready to launch a new business and start a new chapter in my life. Kate delivered! I received so many compliments afterwards! She not only provided a beautiful shorter and edgier cut but also a cool new color (red painted onto the bottom portion of my black hair!) I loved it! Still do! We are both very happy to call Kate our new go-​to hairdresser! She is the BEST!

I absolutely LOVE Kate! She’s fantastic! I’ve been going to her for about 4 years now and she NEVER disappoints! We’ve been through a bunch of different hair styles, from bangs to a bob. I just saw her yesterday and we chopped a good 4 – 5 inches off. This was a lot for me, since I’ve been on a «long» haired streak, but I can honestly say I’m never nervous when I see Kate; even if I’m doing something completely outside my norm (like the long bob).
Not only is she a fantastic hairstylist and colorist, but she’s a fantastic person in general! She’s super sweet and always makes you feel comfortable — we never have those awkward silences! Her assistant, Michella (sorry if it’s spelled incorrectly!) is fantastic as well! They are hilarious and truly a perfect pair. I always look forward to my visits. :)

Kate has been cutting my hair since 2011 and she’s always been amazing with dying and cutting my hair. To this day she will be the only person I trust with my hair.

The entire experience as a whole was absolutely amazing! Kate is extremely professional. She knows what works and what doesn’t work. She knows the right questions to ask to give you the perfect cut for your lifestyle, face shape, and hair type. My color always looks amazing and because of my trust in her I am super comfortable taking any and all advice she has for my hair as I know it will come out great. Kate was really wonderful and took the time to explain what would and wouldn’t work well with my face shape, and also listened to what I wanted. She made a lot of good recommendations, and the hair cut turned out great!

There is not one word that could describe Kate. She is truly AMAZING! I have been to few salons in the Northern Virginia Area, but she has been the only stylist to get my hair exactly the way I want it. I have been going to her for the less than a year, she’s done my hair 4 times. Each time has a different style/​look and she nailed it. Her hours are great, parking is never a nightmare, one on one time with her is the best. Between Kate and her assistant Michella, they make it for a great time and make you feel like you’re at home in her salon. I highly recommend her.

Kate is the Best! She does my hair, balayage and haircut, she actually had to fix really bad highlights done in another salon. She makes me look and feel amazing! She also does my 10 year old son’s hair he loves her.

I’ve been visiting Kate for my monthly haircut for… 4 years now? Wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.
Here’s the thing… I’m not really one for looking «pretty.» I need a clean, low-​maintenance cut that grows in well, and can be styled when I need to look my best. Kate nails it every time. She’s always open to offering new looks for me… we’ve tried plenty of different approaches depending on the season, and it always looks great! Without sacrificing my preferences for clean and low-​maintenance of course.
Other reviewers have mentioned it, but Kate’s sweet, genuine approach towards service is addicting. No matter how stacked her schedule is, she makes you feel like the MOST important client of her day. She’s open and warm, and makes the entire experience so much more than just a haircut. One time I was traveling for work for an extended period and I got a quick mediocre cut at a cheap barber along the way… when I returned to town, there was not a shred of guilt for «cheating» on her, just a very enthusiastic «they just don’t know your hair like I do.»
Will keep going to Kate as long as I live in the area!

I found Kate here on Unilocal when I was looking for someone to do a major hair makeover. (I had long, curly, but thin hair, which is really hard to cut in a flattering way) and I was going for a bob (or lob) length. I chose her based on the reviews about how knowledgeable she was about working with different hair textures and how she was great at talking you through a style that is perfect for you. She did all of those things! She was fun, patient, and help me strategize to find the perfect style. It was a great experience all around and I absolutely love my new cut!

I have been trying to get my natural hair color back forever. It is a process, but let me tell you — I came in with orange hair and Kate changed it and made it as close as possible to my natural. She is a lifesaver. And a miracle worker. Very creative. Incredible. She also has the best energy :).

I don’t think I’ve trusted anyone else with my hair this much. I always leave super content with the biggest smile on my face. Kate is so friendly, I love her personality! I have recommended every single one of my friends to her. She’s the best!

Kate is absolutely incredible!
The entire experience got me hook, line, & sinker! First of all, I didn’t have to fight anyone for parking, which was awesome! The look of the entire place is vastly different from what I’m used to when it comes to salons, where they have chairs next to each other & there’s a lot of foot traffic & chatter in addition to the overhead music. The place that Kate’s salon is in offers more of that one-​on-​one, boutique-​y experience, which was PERFECT for me. She greeted me warmly with a huge smile (thanks, Kate!) & got to work on my hair shortly after. What I loved about Kate is that she really listens to what you want & you can even start bouncing ideas off each other as far as hairstyles go. She’s very knowledgable about trends, current & past, & SO easy to talk to!
I LOVED my haircut (went from long-​ish to an edgier, shorter style) & received SO many compliments on it! It’s easier to wash, style, & I just love it, period. I went to go see her again yesterday to get a hair trim since my hair grows fast, & it’s still the same amazing experience.

Kate is wonderful, she helped me pick a hairstyle that suited me and my lifestyle. She’s very knowledgeable, and explained all the products she used but didn’t push them on me. She’s also very sweet!
