Their sushi and sashimi are really fresh, we had four people, ordered multiple nigiri sushi, sashimi, rolls on a boat. They even have uni-sea urchin, and my favorite inari sushi-sweet tofu skin with rice. There are also Japanese beer — ichiban on tap. Didn’t try any Thai food though, save it for the next visit!

I would highly recommend this place over Sushi Yoshi. I was so much more impressed with Sweet Ginger. AMAZING sushi and fried rice. Their menu has so many options too. They had some familiar and popular Thai dishes listed, lots of staple Asian dishes AND plenty of options for us sushi lovers. Great ambiance, super fresh ginger, and the prices are not bad. I have a feeling this is one of those places where I can try anything on the menu and not be disappointed.

I came here with some friends because the one said it was one of her favorite sushi places in NoVa. The décor was nice, your average sushi joint style decoration etc. Though it was a bit dimly lit, the restaurant still had a great ambiance. The servers were pretty attentive as well, who doesn’t like good service? Onto the stuff that matters, the sushi! The menu is so huge, it seemed big even for a sushi place. Since there were five of us, we naturally picked two rolls each, for a grand total of 10 rolls! They told us which rolls were which, but they came out on a big sushi boat, how cool is that!!! The sushi was seriously epic. It looked delicious and tasted even better, especially on the boat. You eat with your eyes first and this was definitely the case, it was almost too pretty to eat, almost. Everything from the crunchy tempura in the rolls to the fresh tobiko/roe was just heavenly. Great food for a reasonable price, I will definitely be back again

Have been here twice and ordered sushi twice. The rolls/sushi/sashimi themselves are not so creative. They are just something you can order from any 3– or 4-star sushi places in northern Virginia. The thing I like the most is the fresh ingredients. Have been eating so many sushi places and this one clearly has fresher raw fish. At least the uni/sea urchin here is the most fresh I’ve had so far and the price is kinda reasonable. Not noisy at all so people can talk. Don’t know why but there are lots of elder couples eating here, making the dinning experience quite enjoyable. Service is great too. Another plus is that they do take reservations, even on Friday/Saturday nights.

Love this place and the food is so good! The best part to be honest is the staff. Aside from great sushi, the staff is so friendly all the time, at least in our experience. Good for kids too!

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Northern Virginia. Sweet Ginger is tucked in a strip mall in Vienna. The staff is friendly and attentive. The few times I have been there, I have only had their sushi(and bento box once) and it has quickly become one of my favorite sushi spots in the area. The place: The restaurant is pretty chic with red and black décor and has a warm vibe to it. It is located in a small strip mall in Vienna. Menu: Their menu hosts various Asian dishes, but they are mainly a Japanese restaurant so they have more Japanese dishes on their menu. The few times that I have been here, I have only had their bento box once and sushi multiple times so can only speak for that. Their chicken teriyaki bento box was alright, your typical bento box, not something I would order again. For sushi, I highly recommend their ‘red dragon roll’, «seafood dynamite roll» and«rainbow fantasy». Service: the staff was friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended for sushi!

Best sushi I have found in Northern Virginia. My favorite rolls are the Rainbow Fantasy, Spicy Crab Lover and the King Crab Lover. Honestly their sweet honey miso sauce is to die for. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The service is friendly and prices are very decent. Can get busy at dinner time but the wait is never more than five minutes. Go here if you are looking for good sushi. Worth driving 25 – 30 minutes to try!

I come here for one thing and one thing only: The Japanese Bagel roll. I do not care if you think cream cheese in your sushi is weird; I love it. Lightly batter-fried, fresh salmon, cream cheese topped with roe and spicy mayo. All these aspects culminated together into something truly decadent and delicious. Their other sushi selections are great too. They also have a Thai menu which, to be honest, I don’t really care for. Personally I think they should just stick with Japanese b/c they do it very well. Very interesting take on sushi at a very reasonable price; Sweet Ginger is doing it right!

Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but the wait staff was so sweet. We came in 30 min till close on a Sunday and they graciously accepted us and told us not to rush when they brought the food and we asked for the check. They kept our drinks filled and even turned the music back on. Now that’s what I call service! It was our first time and I will absolutely be coming back!!!

This place is more like 3.5 stars. The sashimi bento box is generous with the portions and fish do seem fresh. However, the fried items seem soaked with oil. The spring roll was large in size but would have expected additional ingredients to provide more taste. However, It was pretty good and worth repeating. The dynamite roll was very good. It was very strong in spices and tasteful; which go well with another rice dish.

This sushi spot is one of those hidden gems in the town of Vienna. You can’t beat the prices and the quality is some of the best in the area. Located conveniently off of 123 in the«west maple» region, it’s easy to get to and parking is plentiful. The restaurant is a fusion of sleek Asian design with a swanky sushi bar and peaceful décor of trickling fountains and visually calming colors. The food is Asian-fusion with an emphasis on Thai and Japanese… all is done well. Portions are comically huge, and leaves you wondering if you yourself have turned into a giant roll of sushi. I recommend their lunch special Bento Box meals ranging from $ 10 – 12 and honestly worth $ 20 at some lesser quality venues. The Unagi nigiri is well done, and I look forward to coming again and trying some of the more off beat menu items.

My favorite sushi place in Vienna. Peaking duck and avocado salad are great to start with and the volcano roll is amazing. They have great salmon here too.

I posted a tip about Sweet Ginger two years ago, and I’ve been back several times since then. Still the best sushi I’ve ever had. Fresh ingredients, great service, and good prices. Thank you for a wonderful meal in a wonderful atmosphere!

This is a great place to score some really tasty Asian cuisine. Its sort of tucked into a strip mall and unassuming. They offer many many different types of sushi to include a menu of specialty rolls. I stuck with mostly the traditional stuff– spicy tuna rolls, salmon roll, eel and avocado roll. They also have one of the better ginger salads in the area. All of the fish seemed very fresh, and the rice has a nice amount of vinegar in it which I feel other restaurants look over too frequently. Aside from sushi they have what seems to be great menu options. My friend god the«King of the Sea» entrée which she thought was awesome. The menu is fairly large, and all of the items look approachable and tasty. Cant wait to go back!

It’s a cute little place in a strip mall along Maple Ave. Service here is awesome don’t get me wrong, however I felt like there wasn’t much variety in the specialty rolls. Many of them seemed to have a lot of the same fish but a minor tweak on the sauce that would be used. I remembered a few more different rolls that I could get here that I didn’t exactly see this time around. Appetizer wise though: The peking duck roll and dynamite mussels were amazing! I can’t say that I’d choose this as a top choice sushi restaurant but I’d be okay if say, my friends had a birthday dinner here.

The reasons I love the restaurant are: 1. Great food with free hot tea. The rolls are so tasteful with different flavor/texture combinations. I think their sushi is not quite«WOW» though. 2. Convenient location. It’s definitely the best sushi restaurant near my house and it has a big shopping square nearby, so I can buy grocery and bakery, etc after dinner there.

Delicious and good experience, just nothing outstanding. I recommend reservations as the restaurant is quite small. Service is pretty fast, but I wished our waitress refilled our waters. They have a great selection of special rolls-can’t wait to try more on another visit. Sashimi entrée is fresh, pieces weren’t too big or small. Haven’t tried any of their cooked dishes but I saw people having them and they look quite promising. Dessert is unremarkable-a slight disappointment. Overall, nice little restaurant in Vienna but I prefer Yama Sushi or Sushi Yoshi.

Try the scallop spicy roll it will literally melt in your mouth it’s so good. Honest never had a bad roll here or soup. The food is consistently good, only problem is staff rushes customers if they are about to close and it make me uncomfortable.

My fiancé and I went on a double date with a good friend of mine and her husband recently at Sweet Ginger. Very interesting restaurant with some great sushi choices! Service was good throughout the meal and there is plenty of parking in the little strip mall where this restaurant is located. Ironically, the girls(my friend and I) both ordered the«Sweet Ginger» Chirashi bowl, while the guys(her husband and my fiancé) ordered a salmon bento box! My Chirashi bowl was really tasty and for a reasonable price, though I didn’t think it was as fresh as other Chirashi bowls I’ve had and not as much variety either. I still think Sushi Prince(in Fairfax) has the best Chirashi bowl I’ve had in the Northern Virginia area. My fiancé seemed to enjoy his salmon bento box, which came with some sushi, tempura, and rice. We also ordered an ahi tuna appetizer, as well as a calimari appetizer. Both were great, except there were moving pieces on top of the calimari, which sort of weirded my fiancé and I out. Haha. And, as is customary, we all got sides of miso soup and ginger salad. Very delicious overall! Can’t say it’s my favorite sushi restaurant, but it’s a very solid 4 and I’d recommend it if you’re in the area! Great food, great company, and great location made for a great dinner :)

Sweet Ginger! The Mini-Asian cheesecake factory! We have Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai. Why choose when you can have it all in one place. — Sweet gingers new slogan =p Mainly Japanese but this offers all different types of Asian cuisine. The sushi is not really sushi, its deep fried american rice rolls with some fish, so please don’t call it sushi when its smother in sauce. Other then the sauce ridden rolls this place has many other Asian offering to make everyone happy. This is a great place to explore other ethnic dishes if you have not tried them yet. Nothing is spectacular mind blowing good but the price point keeps this place a bump up.

Sweet Ginger offers relatively affordable and well crafted sushi in NOVA. It’s a small, intimate Japanese restaurant nestled in-between a nondescript strip mall in Vienna, VA. I often suggest this place for friends who are on their way to Tysons and looking for a good sushi place. I’ve been here a few times and have tried: Bento Box B with shrimp and vegetable tempura and salmon teriyaki, Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, Chirashi with assorted sashimi from chef’s choices over seasoned sushi rice, Spicy Salmon Roll, Rainbow Roll, Spicy King Crab Roll, and Angry Dragon Roll. All in all, every dish I’ve ordered and this especially goes for the sushi, has been fresh, and the rice was artfully cooked with just enough vinegar to offset the subtle taste of seafood in the sushi dishes. The service has always been friendly, efficient, and helpful when answering questions about the menu. I feel comfortable asking about the nuanced differences between sushi platters and encourage others to do the same. When it comes to sushi, leave no roll unturned, or question, in this case. The more you know, the better you’ll be when ordering new dishes!

After searching Unilocal for something yummy for dinner, we came across this place and decided to stop on our way home. This place is tucked away in a little pristine shopping center. What else can you expect around Tysons Corner… everything looks pretty. We parked right in front and headed in. The restaurant is dim and it almost looked closed except for the fact that there were a good amount of people in for late evening on a Sunday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and led to our seats. The menu boasts a lot of interesting combinations, hence to reference to the fusion style of cooking. For example, their eggrolls had cream cheese in them from what I was told by the waiter. I didn’t try them on this visit but maybe next time I’ll venture out and try it because it sounds good and who can go wrong with cream cheese? We ordered shrimp, chicken and veggie combo lo mein and I had to have some sushi. I had a couple bites of the lo mein which was packed full of veggies and proteins. The veggies had the perfect amount of char only achieved by stir frying and the noodles were flavorful, cooked to the right consistency. That sushi though!!! Rock lobster with thin slivers of avocado wrapped around shrimp with beautifully colored tobiko on top finished off with a honey type glaze. This stuff was crazy good! Now I understand why they have all of thos ZAGAT recognition stickers in their entrance. The menu is innovative and the food simply tastes good. It’s also helps that they have some really attentive and friendly customer service going on here too. Winner winner szechuan dinner in my book!

This place was really good! I came with a group of us 4 girlfriends on a Fri night. Luckily, no wait for a booth. We were so undecided on what to order, but settled on the«sushi for 2» platter, which came with 12 pieces(chef’s selection) sushi, 24 rolls(spicy tuna, salmon, eel, something else). It was big! We got full fast; maybe from the side salad and miso soups(2 bowls of each came with this platter). I’m still happy we were full after splitting this platter meant for 2 four-ways. The quality of the sushi is excellent, and j really love the rice they use here. Fish quality seems good too. I will be back soon!

This place has been consistently high quality on the three occasions I have been here. Parking: plenty of suburban, free lot parking. Can’t go wrong. Location: in the nice neighborhood of Vienna, not too far from tysons corner Atmosphere: red and black décor surround you in a very dimmed setting that is still calming regardless of the picture of the man leering at you. Also, each time I enter here it actually smells great which is not the case for most sushi places. Menu Variety: this restaurant has Asian cuisine of all sorts which may seem bad but is actually nice when your party is not all for sushi. Sushi: good quality sushi, fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. If you like tempura then you will love it. And there are plenty of non tempura options either. My favorite is the wasabi cream roll and the crazy roll. Bathrooms: have not gone into one here so really can’t comment Service: excellent. This restaurant would usually be four stars but their service makes them five. One time they sat is down but they had mistakenly put us at a reserved table. They then switched us to another table and were profusely apologetic the whole time. It wasn’t even a big deal. Appetizers: get the Peking duck roll. Holy duck it’s amazing. The battered roll is delicious and the contents have a fresh crispy crunch. The sauce is excellent for dipping. It is a very clean restaurant too. I enjoyed this place and plan to come back soon. Wish they had frequent sushi points: P

It was my first time here and I’ve heard so many great things about it. We came here for a friend’s birthday dinner and she made reservation prior to the dinner. I think they will give up your reservation if you arrived 15 mins late. I guess that’s fair since the restaurant itself is small and it gets busy during dinner time(weekdays and weekends). They have a huge parking lot, so parking in small town vienna shouldn’t be a problem, but getting there during rush hours will(so traffic). The restaurant is nicely decorated with very dim lights, which I thought that was cool. The menu served sushi, chinese and thai. We ordered pad thai and it turned out to be pretty good but just a little sweet. On the menu, they had wow stamped on some of the items and I believe those are either more popular or they are their signature dishes, which I recommend try those if it will be your first time there or second. The service was okay. Our server didn’t come back to refill our water at all beside took our order and give us the bill. Thumbs up for them to split our check up amongst 8 of us and surprisingly they didn’t include 18% tips in there so make sure you do that when you pay.
