What. A. Dump. This is the worst most unkempt Macy’s I’ve ever visited. The only reason for the second star is I have found some good deals here. Today I watched a young lady in the men’s tuxedo/suit department texting on her phone twice. I stopped and asked her to scan something to check the price. «I can’t do that, the self price check is over there.» Wow. Horrible customer service. The lady who rang me up was pissed I didn’t open a credit card to save 40%. I’d like to say I won’t be back but I will.

A typical boutique for both men and women, Macy’s is that department store that you just can’t seem to escape from. Their are plenty of these to go around not only in Rochester, but across the whole country. With each Macy’s being similar but different in their own way, this particular branch already should be at the top in terms of quality and selection. Why? Well it is in Eastview Mall of all locations and with competition from Lord & Taylor, JCPenney and Von Maur, the expectations are high. What sets this Macy’s apart from others I have visited is that it’s very neat and organized. It’s more or less saying that a person with OCD most likely put everything together in a tidy fashion because in all of the clothing departments, no shirt or dress is left off the rack. I wish the same could be said for the shoe area which is still a giant mess of empty shoe boxes and missing pairs of high heels. The men’s is generally the tidiest of the bunch and the selection of clothing is typical of what you see at other stores. The prices are the same regardless but they don’t seem to lack anything in regards to clearance areas, full priced items, and overall items on sale It’s great to always take a look in the area if you are browsing for a cost effective item that isn’t really that expensive if you find the right one. You will be there for a while though, it’s a lot to sort through. The same can be said for the larger woman’s area. It’s not different from any other Macy’s I’ve been to but because the store here is bigger than most, it’s easier to move around in when looking at many of the matched coats, blouses, and so forth. The purses are also decently priced but the selection of those could be better. Decent overall and they do carry quality brand name clothing, no cheap knocks off to be found. Even when the mall is at its busiest, It never really gets too packed in here thus shopping in here can be enjoyable given you go at the right time which isn’t really easy to plan. However, the tidy atmosphere creates a nice comfortable and ambient mood for shopping. It’s ideal for anyone just passing on through. The staff though can be a bit iffy at times. Most of the time, trying to find someone to help you can be a chore at the most as none are usually to be found. Despite this, those you do find are willing to help you no matter what… and with a good attitude from what I’ve witnessed. This scores a bit higher in my book just based on the neatness of the store and the great selection of clothing that they carry. Still, even though this department store doesn’t really offer anything new, it stills holds a good strong shopping experience that I hope will influence others to give this Macy’s a look through every now and then.

Back in the day, the motto was the«May way or the highway.» Can’t say that much these days… still, if you want the personal touch you can find some real retail vets here selling the goods.

Three stars is as high as I’ll go for any department store. They haven’t changed much since they were invented. The fancy ones with grand pianos etc are just stupid and you’re going to pay for that person to play Mozart for you. The Macy’s at Eastview Mall is tidy and well stocked and usually isn’t too busy, which is everything you want in a department store. They carry good brand names and I even like their higher end house brand of shirts named Tasso Alba I believe. They have sales often, pump out coupons like nobody’s business, and if you get their charge card you save even more. Just pay it off in full every month so it’s worth having it and it’s money in the bank. It’s a good store.

This store is usually pretty tidy– even though the purse section does tend to drive me a bit nuts. It isn’t one of the largest Macy’s but it has just what I need.
