After losing $ 100 an hour at Turning Stone NYE we headed to Vernon Downs on the 1st. We played for 4 hours and walked out $ 10 up. It was great! I don’t expect to win big but at least let me have a good time! We ate at the café and the food was great. $ 17 for a sub, water, turkey Ruben, and both came with fries. No smoking inside with was great relief from the place the night before. Everyone was pleasant! My husband and I both hit multiple bonuses! If we are ever in the area again we will pass Turning Stone and go to Vernon Downs. This place saved my birthday trip by making up for the horrible night NYE.

Went to the bar. Last hands is someone else’s recipct, we pay it not paying attention, then calls us to drunk to be served, then hands us what she thinks is the correct recipt, but has another servers name on it, then says we are in the wrong. Security then shows up saying we need to leave a signed copy. So then the car tender finally admits her mistake. Security apologises and I’m left with a bill for some stale 1800 tequila. What a joke.

So my wife’s cousin had a wedding nearby and we stayed at Vernon Downs. It was an OK experience and if I were in the area again I would stay here again as well, but I would not make a trip to here for the strictly for the«casino» aspect. For the hotel, our room was clean and suitable for our stay. Check-in was a bit of a pain as there was no early check-ins available and they actually didn’t have our room ready until almost 3:30 when we were supposed to be able to check in at 3. Outside of that there were no other issues. As to the casino, well if you are into penny slots, this place is right up your alley. Outside of that there are some other slots with a few higher values, but no table games at all. You can play the NY state run keno at the bar, but that’s about it. Not much of a casino in my opinion but I guess it gives degenerate gamblers a place to blow their money. Bar was at least inexpensive and they did have a cheesy cover band playing, which got the wedding party dancing during after hours there. They did have a breakfast buffet for the wedding party the day after on a nice balcony terrace over looking the racetrack. It was pretty picturesque. So for a hotel stay this place works, as a casino its a big thumbs down.

We were there for a wedding, requested a an accessible room with a roll in shower. Were told we could not be guaranteed that room until the day of check in. The staff on the phone when I was making the reservation was awful. Could not explain, with a good reason, why I was not able to reserve the roll in shower. Again the staff the day of the wedding was horrible! We requested and early check-in(only an hour early) to get ready for the wedding that was at 3:30PM. We were not allowed to check-in, so we had to get ready in a friends room who had checked in the night before!

We’ve been here twice.(10⁄14 and 11⁄14). Nice quaint track and casino. Never stayed at the hotel. The Golf Cup Buffet is slightly high priced but it is all you can eat. The food is slightly better than you would get at a cafeteria. Both times, however, there were two or three things that were above average(the trick is to find those items). Soda, coffee and dessert is included in the price. It’s a nice family night out. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Call in advance to reserve your seats and you can stay there the whole night. We will definitely be back.

The staff was amazing and very nice! The room was very modern, and well kept. We had a great time at the casino! The only problem that we had with our stay was the food that we got at the champion buffet… it was poor to say it nicely, and had definitely been sitting there a while. Other than the food, we will definitely be back soon!

Great place for a weekend getaway. If you love horses, live music, casinos and Buffet restaurants you should check this place out. The hotel rooms are nice, clean and very comfortable. They also have a very friendly and nice staff. I will be back!

Our experience is best described as average. Hotel staff was attentive, room was clean, beds decent as far as hotels go. This is definitely not a gambling destination, extremely limited options gaming wise. The bar is inexpensive, which was surprising for a casino, and bartenders were friendly. I signed up for their players card for a free $ 10 bet, the girl at the counter was annoyed to have to serve a customer, I glanced and she was shopping for clothes online at the counter. Left a poor taste in my mouth. Breakfast buffet was as expected, mediocre but edible. The waitress was poor, I got one glass of water and no coffee refills. All things considered, Vernon Downs is what it is, not a destination resort, but a decent place to stop for a night or what have you

One of the worst buffets i have ever eaten sorry couldn’t eat. Had to wait for 30 minutes outside, to only have a dirty table, and nasty over heated frozen food. Nothing made fresh here. Salad had rotten, and black lettuce. I have seen school cafeterias do a better job. Wait… I have had hospital food that was better. Staff was rude, and trying to push older folks out the door as they were closing in 30 minutes.

Horrible Buffet. Selection is horrible. You have to wait for service or keep going to cashiers to get help. Today 1÷6÷13 I experienced cold food(room temp) & a Wait staff they left my beverage empty for over 15 mins. This may fly with the senior clientele they are filled with, but I’m amazed how horrible the whole experience was. Beware if you select to eat here. You will get a better meal at MC Donald’s or Wendy’s

PROS: — Sign up for the card and new members received 3, $ 10 free-plays. Play just 1 penny and you can cash in the remaining balance if you wish. If you win, they don’t take the $ 10 back like at Turning Stone. — Buffet is only $ 7 during the week — $ 5 if you get there between 4pm — 6pm. It’s not the same size at Turning Stone, but it won’t cost you $ 26, either. — The payout is A LOT better than at Turning Stone — I’ve already won more money here in just a couple months than 10 years at Turning Stone. — You put the money directly in the machine — you don’t load a card like at Turning Stone. The winnings do print out on a slip that you use to cash out. — NOSMOKING!!! You won’t walk out of there smelling like an ash tray like you do at Turning Stone. CONS: — Small, it’s only 1 big room. — No live dealers. If you like playing tables, you won’t find it here. — If you’re into major gambling and expect to win thousands, this isn’t your place. If you’re going up with $ 20 to waste some time, it will last you a while.

Meh. They had a sign on the way in that said«Like us on Facebook» and get a free program, hot dog, and soda”. I didn’t want the hot dog or the soda, but I liked them for the program. When I went to redeem the offer, I was informed that I had to print it off. WHAT? It’s 2012. Look at my phone and see that I liked you. I’d give this place a one star if only for that, but my family came her for my nephew(7) and niece(2) so they could see the horses race. That was such a blast that I give them two additional stars.

Horrible food, not so good staff and small selection. I know it was only 9 $, but a fast-food place might have been a better choice.

You know I’m not a fan of gambling establishments usually. So that might be the reason I didn’t like this place at all. I mean I came here with my little nephew(who is an extremely picky eater and he only wanted to come here for the buffet). I knew I was in trouble but I stuck it out. What I saw, basically a bunch of slot machines and video poker machines. And then a bunch of people sadly throwing their money into predefined blinking lights and talking about strategy :(Uh almost cried. The few I interacted with were not nice either. But then the main reason we were here … the buffet. I almost vomited. I stood there for about 5 minutes looking at everything contemplating which dish would least likely give me food poisoning. Then looked at my nephew who was smiling. Basically what I saw was a bunch of canned food dropped in a warmer. Then there entrée like dishes of chicken, fish and beef. The beef was somewhat undercooked as I had to go back to get another one because it was a little frozen inside still and well definitely not cooked. All this could be yours for 15 bucks or 10 bucks if you are a member … yikes! There is also horse racing here. But it being in the middle of an isolated field made me find this not too appealing. And again, I don’t enjoy gambling. So take it for what it is. Maybe if I was into gambling this would be my spot, but then again you have turning stone just a little bit away.

Fun place, wide open, great landscaping, just very appealing, especially vs. Batavia, Buffalo, Monticello, etc. I saw Oleg Cassini win an amateur race there in the 80’s – pretty kewl.
