Maybe I just went on a good day, but I really liked this A&P. I hadn’t seen one in ages ever since economic woes forced the once ubiquitous A&P to scale back operations to New York and northern New Jersey, so was pleasantly surprised when I noticed the store driving through Vernon. I decided to stop in before and after a day hike on the AT. The store was spacious, clean, and items appeared competitively priced. While the bathrooms might not be the lap of luxury, what public facilities are? Considering that the bathrooms are open to the general public 7 days a week, they looked perfectly fine to me. Far from«atrocious», anyways. The two amenities of the store which really made for a positive customer experience were the sizable bakery and in-store Starbucks. My girlfriend and I were cold and hungry after a long hike, so fresh baked cookies and hot coffee were exactly what we needed! In addition to the baked goods made on premise, they have a wide array of cookies and pastries from local bakeries. We opted for the chocolate chip walnut cookies from an area bakery and they did not disappoint. The Starbucks was similarly excellent. It was a full-service Starbucks(not like the limited-menu ones you sometimes see in Starbucks located in hotels and other businesses) and the coffee tasted freshly made. Good customer service too.

This store is actually disgusting. The produce is rotting. Prices are high. Bathrooms are atrocious and the employees are rude. Was told by two employees that they«don’t work there» when asking for assistance. Today a salsa jar fell off the shelf and the employee in the aisle decided to ignore me while I was speaking to her and apologizing for the jar breaking. As she’s making faces to another customer and commenting under her breath! I asked her what she said and she wouldn’t look at me? Ever ever shopping at this location again. Truly disgusted.

The best thing this grocery store has going for is location if you live in Vernon. Everything is just so so at best, but location makes it usefull. I tend to shop at the two warwick grocery stores, but when I need something in a pinch, They usually have it. Poor fish, Ok meat though almost no grass fed to choose from,
