We really like Anthony’s in Vernon Circle for pizza and grinders. We like Anthony’s House Combination pizza which has cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, pepperoni, hamburg and sausage. It is loaded and delicious. We get a small and cannot finish it. Yesterday we had a ½ hot meatball grinder with peppers and American cheese. It was done in the oven and was loaded. It was more than enough for the two of us. While I was waiting at Anthony’s a girl was making their Special Grinder which has ham, genoa, cooked salami, pepperoni, cheese and lettuce. It was really loaded with 4 types of meat.

We had the«Must Try» Steak and Cheese pizza. Delicious! Crust is crispy. Sauce was tasty and cheese was just right.

Tried the pizza as takeout last night, first time at this place. Pizza is pan style and merely OK. Ordered a potato pizza and asked to add broccoli(to better compare with Willington pizza’s red potato pie) and got home to find just a broccoli red sauce pizza. Grr. Probably won’t be back. Looked nice enough inside.

I’ve been coming here for quite some time now and the food is always awesome! I think this place has the best grinders and pasta dishes in town! I think the pizza is good, not the best I’ve had but the best in the area. My only suggestion is that the staff could work on being a little more friendly and because of this I’ve only dinned in once or twice. Take out is the way to go!

Anthony’s is a nice, local pizza place in Vernon. The staff here is nice, and they have a good selection of menu items. I really like their breadsticks with alfredo sauce for an appetizer. Their alfredo sauce is different than other places, it’s a little thinner, but it has a really good taste. Their potato pizza is amazing! One thing though, is they do put sauce IN the calzone, as well as a side sauce too. You just have to request not to put it in, and they will gladly do that.

Best potato pizza ever! All the pasta dishes are loaded with flavor, and are good sized. The prices are actually under priced, I would pay more for anything on the menu.

First time here. Ordered a grinder and bread sticks to go. Bread sticks are so good and their grinders are massive, worth the money. Took a bit of time for it to be ready, not sure if that’s bc its Friday or bc they where so busy. Will definitely go again.

Awesome grinders. The best in the area. Pizza is ok, calzones are bleh, but the sandwiches are great. The Italian combo is my favorite. They slice the meat right there. Downside is the customer service is crummy.

Good Pizza, Great grinders with lots of meat and cheese, I eat here often. My parents drive out from Granby to eat here several times a month for the House Special Parm We always take home leftovers. One of the best non chain pizza places in town.

Everything from the grinders to the pasta dinners to the pizza was delicious. The portions are so big that we walked in starving but none of us could even finish our meals. Looking forward to the leftovers!

Friendly service. Very kid friendly, even made a bowl of tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots for our kids as an appetizer. Great pizza, good pasta. A little slow, but not excessively so. Great place to stop on your way down route 84.

We’ve eaten here 4 times in the last year. The food here is good, especially the grinders. Very fresh with awesome bread. Service leaves something to be desired though. You really have to flag them down if you need something after they plop down your main order. The fried ravioli is very good as an appetizer. Their website is good too, with good pictures showing you what you get. We detected an odor when you walk in the main door last time we went here. It disappeared once we went in the dining area but I can’t get my boyfriend to go back here now.(Any type of sanitary issue and he will not return). I think something was just spilled and cleaned up, and I personally would like to go back. We never tried the pizza, it looked too messy(greasy) and crust too thin for our taste, but we have seen many families enjoying it, so it must be good if that is the way you like your pizza.

The other couple of reviews of Anthony’s are a bit old, and I must say I’ve always had a good experience at Anthony’s. The waitresses(and they are all women) are friendly and usually attentive. I’ve never had any trouble getting ice water(free, of course) and having it refilled without asking. We usually order pizza(the Supreme medium) and have found it quite good. Plenty for two and you usually have enough to take some home. Pizza prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is good, though it could have been the same 25 years ago. The place is very clean and maintained well. Usually seems to be a reasonble-sized crowd and there is plenty of free parking on-site.

I would say if you want food from here, order out… don’t eat in. The service was pretty crappy(they didn’t even let us sit down before pressuring us for our drink order and as Chris W. said — PASS on the house Chard. Gross!) and the prices on the menu were different than what was actually on the bill. My meal itself was tasty but nothing spectacular and my boyfriends was extremely bland, even after he piled salt on it. Maybe their pizza is better…

Our experience at Anthony’s started with our waitress asking for our drink orders before either of us had even sat down yet. Under pressure, we quickly looked through the less than extensive wine list and made our choices. The house chardonnay is terrible by the way. The lady ordered the Anthony’s Special Parmigiana and I ordered the Firenza Pasta. According to the menu there was an extra charge to have peppers and mushrooms added to the Special Parm. It’s impossible to tell if this is really true or not since the menu prices didn’t seem to actually match the bill. Anyway — We shared the two dishes. The Special Parm was decent. The pasta side with a teaspoon of boring marinara wasn’t entirely necessary as it was a generous portion. To call the Firenza bland might be an understatement. If not for the sausage it would have been about as exciting as the glass of ice water that was never brought to the table. Would I give it another chance? Maybe, but we were totally unimpressed.
