The food is good — not great — but good the prices are fair & you get a large quantity of food

Came in at 9 for food to go when they close at 10. Wasn’t greeted very warmly but instead was told that they close at 9? Then I confusedly and questioningly pointed to the sign that says mon-fri 11am-10pm… She said delivery only. And the kitchen couldn’t make what I wanted anyway because it was closing down. Didn’t get to eat any food all the Unilocalers said was good because I came in an hour before they close. This sucks.

Came here for the first time with my boyfriend, was happy to see a tiny Thai place in town. The workers didn’t speak much English, which for foreign food, is typically a good sign. I work near LA, and eat Asian food quite regularly. I was specifically curious of their fish ball, I crave it often and I need a place near me that can provide. We ordered the –Golden Triangle appetizer, an Asian style quesadilla with pork inside. No cheese, fried, served with sweet and sour sauce, but good. We picked this out to be a little adventurous –Chicken Satay this was amazing. Came with six skewers and a delectable peanut sauce. Chicken was very tender. Would order this five times over -#56 I don’t recall the Thai name, but I ordered this for the fish ball. I purposely ordered an unusual soup to test the quality of this place. My soup was great, but it didn’t have the same ingredients as noted in the menu. I was expecting fish ball, calamari, and(another sea food I forget what it was.) The soup arrived with a variety of surprises… it was filled with imitation crab, not listed on the menu, a muscle(not listed but delicious, scared me when I pulled it up,) no calamari, and also included a strange… root. I asked the lady what this sponge like item was and she said it was the root of the mushroom… I defiantly didn’t get exactly what I ordered, but I have a feeling they aren’t normally prepared to serve that dish due to some unpopular components. Fish ball was adequate, I’ve had better, but for Ventura, this will do. :) Never the less, I enjoyed my meal, and am excited to return to try some more menu options.

One word, barf. So sorry but I ordered through GrubHub and was beyond disappointed. The delivery guy was nice, I’ll give them that but I ordered phở and some little appetizer and was very badly disgusted. The soup part of the phở did not look fresh. It looked like it was days old and tasted just as bad. Not to mention it was cold, I mean I know i ordered it for delivery but not even pizza is cold when they deliver! I guess I should have known not to order phở from a Thai restaurant.

I’m sorry, I really wanted to like this place however the thai food I got was not up to par… the yellow curry was decent(probably the best part of the meal). The pad thai was super dry and the brown rice tasted dry as well. The price is right, but the food is comparative to the price… Sorry I can’t recommend but I did good customer service.

I honestly used to love this place, but they’ve experienced a change in personnel or something. The guy that takes/runs orders doesn’t have a very good grasp of English, or the menu. Totally understandable — I wouldn’t be able to go to Thailand and communicate with anybody. But I wouldn’t start working in a restaurant there, either. We ordered an app to start(fresh roll with tofu — legit my favorite thing on the menu/the entire world). When it came it, it was just lettuce — no tofu. Same thing with my main — he even came over to our table to clarify what I had ordered, I reiterated — still messed it up somehow. It’s a shame because this place has great people working in the kitchen, but the last few times I’ve gone there I’ve had an experience like this. They need someone on the phones who knows the menu and can understand what you’re saying. Until that happens, we won’t be returning.

We have eaten here several times. The food isn’t horrible, but usually results in some uncomfortable time in the restroom the following day. They sometimes get the order wrong, last time we ordered chicken satay and got pad thai instead. If they cannot understand your address, they will just tell you delivery time is 90 minutes and pickup is 10 minutes, so you will just come in. Once, we ordered the shrimp appetizer and it was totally raw in the middle. We didn’t want to risk it and just threw it away. We only order from here if we are really hungry and it’s been a long time so we have forgotten the required bathroom time that results.

This place is off the chain when it comes to Thai food, deviate from that and order something like phở and you are on your own. Can miss, spicy basil chicken! Absolutely the best I’ve ever had! Everything else is delicious.

The food was just OK. I ordered delivery because I’m sick and I had no energy whatsoever to go out and get food. I wanted soup and this is what was available so I went with it. Was the food just ok because maybe I didn’t dine in? Possibly. What really set me off was the delivery guy. He was nice and he was foreign so maybe he didn’t get«it»… But the end result of my being irritated at him was a result of a bunch of little small things. First off, he couldn’t find my address. I live in a fairly new area so I understood and when he called, I let him know that I lived right across from where the gps took him. Directly across. And for some reason he went to an entirely different street? And so I told him again that I lived right across as in across the park and he still couldn’t find me. I told him I would be waiting outside in my bright blue LA Dodgers sweatshirt and to just follow the roundabout and what should’ve taken him 10 seconds took about 10 minutes. Again, I’m sick and I’m cold from being outside so every second that passed was putting me in an irritable mood. Ok, he didn’t know the area and has a bad sense of direction. Not the worst. I understand because I have a terrible sense of direction. Next, when he finds me he asks me to sign this piece of paper as confirmation that I received the order, but he has no pen. So I go inside my house to get the pen and then he asks to use the restroom. …I have this weird thing about letting strangers into my home but I let him in. He lets the faucet run the entire time he’s using the restroom, which annoyed me because we’re in a drought and he’s not paying for my water bill. And when he’s done and is leaving, he doesn’t even shut the door all the way. He literally left it an inch open. And left the front gate wide open. Again, these are all things that just annoyed me but these are common manners. Why would I leave someone’s home after using facilities and not close the door and the gate as I’m leaving? By the time he left, I had zero energy and I was so exhausted from having to talk to him that by the time I got to the food, I was just over it entirely. The food wasn’t worth having to put up with the delivery guy.

I didn’t really order anything special from here so I really can’t grade Thai Stars authenticity, but after a brief read through of its menu, they have some stuff like papaya salad, larb, the expected colored curries and they also cover various Asian dishes too. Shumai, tempura, gyoza, roasted duck, shiitake mushrooms and snow peas. They’re all over the place! The only thing I see this place has going for them is their super affordable lunch specials. The veggie delight with chicken I ordered appeared and tasted like something from Panda Express or a fast food type Asian restaurant. For under $ 8, I received rice, entrée, egg drop soup and two skinny egg rolls(not vegetable!). They are located in a food court, but have their own booth seating.

The best Thai tea, the best spring rolls, the best chow mein… In ALL of Oxnard. Super small spot that is never ever busy it’s like a secret spot and its food is so gooooood! And the woman that helped me was sooooo sweet and nice, all of the people there were. Love this place

Small and welcoming. The food here is fresh and served hot, made to order. Fresh boba for Thai tea. Some mixed Asian menu items, and curry fries.

I found Thai Star through EAT24, I opted to go in person and order. Located in the strip mall by the old Century 16 theaters off Johnson drive, it’s not much to look at upon entering, it serves both as a take out restaurant or dining in, but one thing it will never be know for is fast or speedy service. I ordered drunken noodles & steamed rice off the lunch special and be sure to look for the lunch specials because they will happy to charge you for the regular entrée prices. There was a substantial wait since I was the only customer at the time, the gentleman that helped me was pleasant enough but I never got the impression this place worries about time management. Food wise I was pleased, the food was hot and I got large enough portions to have leftovers. Cleanliness is questionable, it wouldn’t hurt if the chose to push the mop around from time to time.

Living in Oxnard, my delivery options are limited. I was tired of the same ol’ same, so decided to try something new tonight. They’re located in Ventura, but delivered to me! What?! That alone gives them kudos.(The man who delivered my food was really nice, too.) Now, the food. In short: Fantastic. First time eating here, so I stuck with simple things(yellow curry, spring rolls, chow mein), but I’m impressed. I’ll be coming back, for sure. I want to order everything else on the menu that sounds good, now. Prices are totally reasonable, and the food is fresh, flavorful, and just yummy. I literally ate one bite of everything and ran to write this before I forgot. Now it’s time to actually eat it. :) I’m a fan.

Ordered from Grubhub, and all three orders were wrong. We got plain rice instead of fried and three orders of egg rolls instead of the golden triangle, crab rangoon, and fries with red curry. Also, they filled the soup only halfway for all three orders and were twenty minutes late. While the food is ok, this is unacceptable. When I called the restaurant they said that three items we wanted would have warranted an extra charge. That is not our problem and if that was the case they should have called us. Awful business practices. Will never order online with them again. UPDATE: grubhub processed a partial refund and told me the restaurant would be sending us an order of golden triangles on the house. One hour later an angry delivery man starts shouting at us in broken English about the charges and gesticulating at the menu wildly. I take three food from him and tell him I don’t understand what he’s trying to say. «THISTIMENOCHARGE. NEXTTIMEFIVEDOLLAR.» Jesus Christ old man. I told him there wouldn’t be a next time. What the hell is the point of sending us food to fix the order if the delivery man is going to scream at us? Ridiculous. This place is going to go out of business unless they change their ways.

Ok it was first time ordering from this place and was on a mini vacation. I saw the Unilocal reviews and figured 4 stars so I tried them out. First off I order about 615 and was told the food will take 30 – 45 mins for delivery. I got a little worried at 715 so I called to follow up. I got a fax line when I called their posted number. I actually kept trying to call about 7 times and was not sure what was going on because I got the fax line after 4 rings. I had ordered for my family so it was an issue that we did not know what was going on. I was not sure to do so I checked my credit card and saw the charge so I figured they are still open and hoped for a delivery. I tried calling from another number and low and behold they answered. I spoke to them and they said food is on its way. I asked why did they not answer my calls and the person had a language barrier. The food finally arrived at 8pm. I ended up getting food from another place and it arrived before this place. When the food arrived the driver did not speak English too well because I asked why the delay and he did not respond. Food was cold and I think the place was avoiding my calls. If the place is busy then they should just say so. 145 for food delivery when told 30 – 45 mins is terrible. That was a waste of money and a headache. Unilocalers beware. Just pretty fishy that they did not answer my calls. They happened to answer when I tried from another number.

Well after visiting this place a few times I think it’s safe to say it is worthy of a 4-star rating. The owners are always super nice, the food is good and their prices are on-par with the other Thai options available in the area. What made me write this review today was defiantly their The Tom Yum soup I had today, it was simple yet delicious! I will definitely be coming back soon!

I usually come to eat here when I’m craving pad see ew with tofu and chicken. The food and the service for when we eat here is excellent thanks to the lady that’s always there but today I went in to get food to go and there was a man at the register who just ignored the fact I was there. He was on his phone even after I said HELLO. And the cook from the back had to tell him something in their language and he basically disregarded it and was on his phone for another 5 minutes. This really pissed me off. And he didn’t even seem as nice as the woman that usually takes my order. This is why my 5 stars for the place went down to 3. But the food was still good except for the fact that I asked for brown rice and ended up with white and when I called them to tell them, all he could say was«no brown rice today» wish they told me that before I ordered
