Would not recommend it. Very poor quality. This was not a pleasant experience and when we expressed that to the owner she became defensive. I felt I was forced to buy food that was just awful. Paid for it and gave it to a homeless man.

My wife had the beef and string beans — the beans were fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the Kung Pau 3 Delight and it was excellent.

I’ve only been here once, and had their sweet and sour pork lunch special with egg flower soup. My guest had the kung pow chicken. The portions were large, and the food was flavorful. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, this one is very clean inside. For the amount of food, the lunch special was very reasonably priced. I plan to go there again next time I’m near the Ventura Courthouse.

If i could give them a minus rating i would. I have gone to this restaurant on several occasions and each time my experience is the same. They seem to be extremely rude! Yes i could not believe it as well! As soon as we walked in we were looked at from head to toe… i seriously thought something was out of place or maybe i had stepped in dog poop. Thwn we were made to wait while others were seated before us when we had come in before them. I just assumed they had a reservation or something. We were seated at the tables the servers dine at and next to the kitchen… mind you the restaurant was empty other than 2 tables which had entered after us. No place settings or napkins awaited us. We were constantly trying to get the servers attention… for water… place settings… order…order reminder… order correction… etc…you get the picture. Or bill was slapped on our table immediately As we began to eat and then the barrage of meals began comming out of the kitchen and our table and chairs were bumped insacessantly. Still i gave them the benefit of doubt figguring they are having a bad day or something. We returned a few weeks later hoping for a more pleasent experience… amazingly enough it was identical to the first… we did go in a third time and when we were greeted by the same up and down looks and other patrons were seated before us althouvh they entered after us we decided at that point they were no longer going to recieve our business. just to clarify i am a 60 year old woman who dresses nicely and has her nails done every 2 – 3 weeks, make up, and decent hair and was with my blonde daughter who is educated and carries herself well. I will NEVER return to this eatableshment and encourage others not to patronize them as well. I gave them the benefit of doubt until THEY removed all doubt!

I am fan! I dined in once and had it delivered once… the other 3 times I’ve called they said, they do not have a delivery guy… so I stopped trying. Thai Food Thai Star is so much smaller and has a delivery man ALWAYS. I just dont get it. The only reason I keep coming back is because the food is amazing! There dishes are large portions and for sharing. I ordered the Orange Chicken with wor wonton soup, egg roll and friend rice. …everything was delicious and made to order.

This place does not disappoint! When my favorite Chinese place changed ownership they changed the food so I set out to find a new Chinese food place. Spring Garden’s food is delicious! I took one star away because it takes forever to get the food and that makes it tough when you’re on a lunch break. Other than that the staff is really nice.

This used to be one of my favorite chinese restaurants. We were looking forward to our take out as it has been awhile since we last had it. We were extremely disappointed to receive burnt food. The egg food young was so obviously burnt but was still given to us. Of course, we had no idea until we got home. It’s extremely inconvenience to drive back from Oxnard to Ventura. I want to go somewhere where quality matters. It was highly unacceptable to serve this quality of food. Because of this will not return.

Good food. Last minute stop for lunch with the wife. We got an order of pork fried rice, cashew chicken and cream cheese wonton’s, and I gotta say everything was delicious. We will definitely be coming back to try other plates.

THEYNEVERHAVE A DELIVERYGUY«THATDAY»! But the food is good! But Pricey! I Ordered: egg rolls(4), cream cheese fried wontons(6), egg flower soup(L), BBQ Pork Fried Rice, & Crispy Walnut Shrimp(honey walnut prawns w/broccoli). Over $ 50! Large portions, everything fresh, and everything delish! Just wished they were a lil cheaper especially w/o delivery! 4 stars bc its good chinese food but expensive, & I have called many times during the same week and every single time they tell me the delivery guy isn’t working that day, so No delivery here!

First Off VERYRACIST to me and my friends and even my mother. I have been here three times to see if the service would be different but sadly I have walked out of this restaurant two different times and will NEVER go back! When my friend and I went in there today it took 20 minutes just to get seated when there were open booths in the first row… When the lady FINALLY Seated us all the way in the back corner of the restaurant where we sat for another 20 minuets without service or even any acknowledgement but had no problems helping all the people in the front over and over. This place is great! The service is excellent and the food is good. I am quite the picky eater when it comes to Chinese food but this place did not disappoint. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I had the orange chicken, vegetarian noodles and fried rice– yummy! I do have to say the noodles were missing some flavor but nothing a little bit of salt can’t fix. My boyfriend had beef and steamed rice and he loved it! The servings are incredibly generous so you get your money’s worth. The only reason why I am not giving that last star is because the noodles were not out of this world good. I would definitely recommend this place for its service, vibe and portions!

I love this restauraunt! The service is prompt and friendly. The food is delicious and tastes so fresh! It’s also incredibly affordable! I just moved out of ventura and I already miss spring garden! Thank you for being consistently great! More businesses should have as much pride in their work as you do.

It AIN’T EASY trying to find XIAOLONGBAO(XLB), a.k.a. «Juicy Pork Dumplings» here in the 805! Spring Garden was already our go to spot for Chinese takeout in our area. Located next to Trader Joe’s in Ventura, recently, they’ve added their version of XLB to the menu called, «Shanghai Juicy Bun.» Now they’ve enticed us to venture in to sample the goods :) Ms. Cindi is the face of the business, the amicable lady seems to be there all the time. Clean & spacious inside. With the inner configuration, its sometimes hard to get a visual of new entrants if no one’s manning the reception area. So once we’ve been spotted… Let’s get our chow on! *SHANGHAIJUICYBUN($ 8.95): Created in house, it takes ~20 minutes to prepare so place that order RIGHTAWAY if yur cravin’ summa dis! They’re pretty tasty, too, FORTHE805! Initially they brought them out on a plate which resulted in them cooling down too fast. Now they come in the steamers(metal, not bamboo) they were cooked in, so they maintain the heat better. Noticeably juicy, but definitely not soupy like Joe’s Shanghai in the NYC. Worthy alternative to making the trek into LA or Monterey Park from here. *CALAMARIRINGS with SALT&PEPPER($ 8.95): Despite the initial letdown of no tentacles in the mix here, we still ordered this new addition to the menu. This dish turned out to be actually quite tasty! Batter is crisp and the calamari is not chewy at all. The salt, pepper, and jalapeños create a nice bit of heat. *SZECHUANBEANCURD($ 8.95): A.K.A. Ma Po Tofu, well, you have to ADD ground pork or beef to truly make it Ma Po Tofu. This is a recent discovery of the Chinese cuisine for our fams and we’ve been ordering it more often cuz it’s pretty darn flavorful. I think tofu here is medium firmness with a little kick in the sauce. Seems to vary how much that kick is. We’ve learned to specify«bring da heat!» Decently prepared here with a good quantity. *BBQPORKLOMEIN($ 9.95): One of my faves of the Chinese eats, too bad it’s such a calorie load, so I avoid it most of the time now. But since this was gonna be a review visit I had to put it in the order list, yay! They prepare it well here, too. NOT soupy at all, perfectly greasy, and BBQ pork tastes fresh with a nice red hue. Ample quantity to feed this hungry family. Yup… satisfying :) *POTSTICKERS($ 7.95): After eating their XLB, this seems much more doughy now. There is a good quantity of meat though AND you do have a chicken option here. Use to be ordered by my light-eater all the time but not anymore. *FISHFILETINBLACKBEANSAUCE($ 13.95): My dad’s all time fave dish, but this wasn’t prepared like he wanted & you could see it in his face. They use Sole as the fish and pieces are battered then sautéed in a black bean sauce. Decent dish actually, just a bit on the salty side. My pop’s preference is off the menu, so IFYOUASK, they will prepare it as a whole filet unbreaded, steamed, and bathed in a black bean sauce. Maybe next time. *SZECHUANEGGPLANT(lunch special $ 6.95): NOWAY you’ll catch me eating eggplant, BUT Wifey digs it and thought this was prepared well. Eggplant was plump, not soggy wrinkly at all. Big portion size for the lunch option. Comes with choice of soup & veggie egg roll. *CRISPYWALNUTSHRIMP($ 17.95): A fave of my lil man, this was just alright FORME today. More creamy than crispy, it didn’t have the shiny glaze I prefer. Shrimp wasn’t as plump either. Oh well, Lil Man still killed it, though. Overall it ranges between 3 or 4 stars. If you judge it by comparing it to other local options, it’s 4 stars. Service is friendly and attentive. Food comes out without a long wait. It’s one of my Fams fave choices ’round here. Versus the choice Chinese spots in LA or Monterey Park, it’s more of a 3 star outing. So if yur a Chinese Food Snob, point that nose somewhere else ;) FYI: They’re closed from 3p-4:30pm daily

While visiting my friend, we were craving some delicious Chinese food, so we placed an order for delivery at SG. This is my friends favorite place for take out and I can see why! We ordered egg drop soup, which comes with corn, bamboo(I think), and carrots and eggs of course, BBQ pork fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. The egg soup is definitely by far one of the best I’ve had in Ventura and maybe even in Ventura County. I feel like some places lack flavor or even egg in the soup, but with every bite I took, there was egg, corn, carrot or bamboo. The BBQ pork fried rice was also delicious and full of flavor. I normally like hot sauce mixed in with rice, but this is the first time that the rice was good on its own. Again, similar to the soup, there wasn’t a shortage of the pork meat and the ratio to meat/rice and veggies were spot on! The pork was a little dry, but pork is one of those meats where you’d expect it to be dry, unless your at a hoity toity restaurant paying some serious dough. The sweet and sour pork also came in separate containers, which made the pork crunchy and delicious! I can’t help but salivate while writing this review, because it’s that good! I can’t wait to go back to my friends place so we can order from SG again. The portions are huge too, so you’ll definitely have plenty of leftovers for the next day. Which, might I add are still good!

We were looking for a place we haven“t tried before, & decided to go to Spring Garden. This place was basically empty so we weren’ t sure what to think at first. People did start showing up after us, which put us more at ease. I haven’t been to such a spotlessly clean, well done restaurant in a while. Pleasantly surprised by the service, & food quality as well. All of us were very happy, & had no complaints. Prices are on the higher end of normal, but worth it. You do get you pay for! We will be returning in the future for sure!

Where to begin… The ambiance is laid back. They are always quick to seat me and are also great at handling my call in pick-up orders in a timely manner! The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable as to what is on the menu. Love the spicy soups and their calamari with extra onion. I always leave stuffed. –Rayce #TheLifestyleNotTheLabel

Consistently well prepared dishes using lean meats and poultry. Always friendly people working here. A staple Chinese restaurant for Ventura, hopefully for a very long time.
