First off it took like 20 minutes to order because the guy at the cashier kept messing up our order. Then we asked for a diet coke and two regular cokes and they did not let us know which one was the diet… Really!!! Are we supposed to taste test them all or what!!! Then, our kids god salad bars and they did not have nothing to offer for kids appetites. The spaghetti in the salad bar was old and hard, the chicken wings were also old. We, the adults ordered the steak and riblets deal they currently had as a promo and we asked for all of them well done. We get medium rare steaks… EEEK!!! The riblets were cold and all full of bony, no meat what so ever. They did not pick up our empty plates or offered refills at all. We had to let them know that we needed a refill. SMH I wouldn’t even give Sizzler a 1 star at all, maybe a half but there is no option to do so. I WOULDNEVERINMYLIFEGOTOTHISSIZZLERAGAINORRECOMMENDIT.

Worse buffet I’ve ever been to. The fried«chicken» had no chicken. It was a fried bone. The taco bar was messy and old. Yuck!

Geez… where do I begin? I was so not please with Sizzler’s… For starters, I asked to use a mobile coupon. I was informed by the manager that I needed to present(printed) the coupon in order for it to be honored. Ok, so be it… I placed an order anyway. Paid extra to have a bowl of Clam Chowder and quickly regretted doing so. Not only was the soup salty, I was able to ladle a couple of mouthfuls with a fork due to the thick consistency! Was this soup or Gravy– eekk. Further, I order a steak, baked potato & Malibu Chicken combo and even paid a couple of dollar’s more to «up grade» to an 8 Oz steak. The potato was dry as was the Malibu chicken. And mind you, my steak was brown on the outside and COLD in the middle. I was not happy with my order so I requested the potato be relaced, which it was. I also requested that the steak be replaced and it was too, but with a 6 Oz steak! To add insult to injury, and once I received the 2nd steak, 1) the server did not realize I had been given the standard size steak, and 2) the server was relentless and kept insisting that I cut into the steak(in her presence) to see if it was grilled to my liking! Really, yeah, I don’t think so… So I informed her that I was going to let my steak rest and she seemed to be annoyed with that? I did not cut into the steak. I did, however, point out that I received the wrong ounce steak and she agreed By this time, the rest of my party were pretty much ready to leave as they were done with their meal– mind you they were not impressed with their food either. So rather than wait for yet a 3rd steak, I asked for a refund. The server apologize profusely. I gave her my original receipt so that she could make the adjustment on my ticket. I figured, due to my dissatisfaction, inconvenience and sending back the meal, that I would have my entire order taken off the ticket. Wouldn’t you know that I was refunded everything but the Malibu chicken? I was told that I ate the Malibu chicken and therefore it was not taken off the ticket. This was absolutely comical. I didn’t want to waste anymore of my time in this establishment. I do have my receipts and plan to get in touch with their corporate office, if anything, to bring awareness to this scenario. I’m sure someone can learn from this and prosper from a customer service perspective. I sure didn’t prosper. I didn’t enjoy my meal, nor did I have time to visit with the rest of my party. Good grief, to add isult to injury, I was treating the group of people I was with and I was the one that didn’t get to enjoy even half of the meal. Frankly, I don’t think I will ever return to this place again. My experience was horrible. I think that the«hay day» time of the Sizzler’s in Ventura is gone! Just another establishment that entices the consumers by selling the«sizzle» not the steak!

I was taken out to dinner here with my family for my birthday. We haven’t been here for the longest time and actually thought it was closed down. To our surprise, they were open and the place looked very nice! I had intentions of ordering a steak with seafood, but ended up having the all you can eat salad bar. There was so much to choose from for salads and was happy to see that they had spinach included in the salad bar as well. I of course went for seconds and also had clam chowder. That clam chowder was very good! I noticed there was an additional area that served hot food such as spaghetti & meatballs, tacos, chicken strips and a few other items which were also included in the all you can eat salad bar. You know I was a happy camper leaving there with a full stomach. lol

As a sizzler fanatic i was quite dissapointed when i walked into this one. At first they didnt even have the monthly special displayed so i had to ask the lady who seemed unfamiliar with it. Anyways me and my bf got the deal and a «endless» salad bar for the tuna salad which i love so much. First and foremost as the other lady mentioned in a pervious comment they make a big deal if you and your partner both eat from the salad bar. I personally dont get the difference of me going up twice or gettin two soup bowls at once. I mean it is a «endless» salad bar. Anyways with the $ 6 dollars i paid all we ate from the salad bar was some chowder. The tuna salad had a week old soil taste which was disgusting and as for the desert they didnt have anything almost all the other locations have(bannana pudding, oreo cream, pudding). Dont even get me started on the dry steak i got. Anyways worse sizzler experience ive ever had!

Well, what a waste of time going there… The server BRIANA when she arrived to our table, first thing she said«Just to let you know, you can’t share the salad bar» It was my husband, my daughter(13) and me. We ordered TWO unlimited shrimp +steak + salad bar. My daughter wasn’t feeling well so she wasn’t gonna eat much, she just wanted a salad(lettuce + cucumbers) After we got the salad(lettuce + cucumbers) a different male server came to our table to get us refills(or maybe to check if we were sharing) when he left our table, we over heard the first server asking him«are they sharing it» that was it! It made us feel very uncomfortable(I was thinking about ordering a salad for my daughter but it was gonna be too much food) besides we don’t eat anything else from that bar but the lettuce, cucumbers etc. Anyway, I asked the male server if there was a problem because we over heard what the server Briana said, he didn’t know what to say he only said«I know» but my husband did know what to say! «lets go» then we asked for the manager to give us our money back, for our surprise HE was the manager! after asking for the money back, he just replied«yes, yes» never apologized or explained the salad bar situation or anything else about it… WOW that was a very poor, unprofessional, horrible, ridiculous customer service! NEVERWILLGOBACKTHERE.

A solid four stars for the steak and unlimited shrimp dinner. The shrimp is larger than the typical overly breaded popcorn shrimp that you usually find within a deal like this. The service however, was disappointing at best. Our waitresses took our order, returned with our drinks, asked if we would like to have some warm bread while we waited and promptly took her break in the dinning room. Which to our surprise, counted her tips, ate and played with her phone for 30 minutes. I ultimately walked over to another waitress, explained to her what had happened, and without hesitation literally saved the night for us. She was amazing, in my opinion, she actually understood customer service better than the manager that was on duty. In summery, the shrimp… Awesome… The waitress that stepped up and got the great tip… Awesome.

I go to sizzler when I need my Malibu chicken fix. My husband likes to get a sirloin steak. It seems like they have been trying to upgrade it a bit by sprucing the place up. The food the last few times seem to be on the way up but this last time it was just ok. The Malibu chicken seems to get smaller every time. We didn’t see any of our usual servers and the service was kind of subpar. Bring back the old servers and my old Malibu chicken.

I have had to change my review. New owners and new staff. Bad service. The food is terrible. The steaks are tough. Hint… bring back the old staff… Sal and company really cared about service.

Update August 2015: The reformation of this Sizzler continues. Still good quality ingredients, good service, well maintained. Keep up the good work. Kudos to Jacob for prompt, friendly service.

My husband and I hadn’t been to a Sizzler in ages, probably over a decade? But I’d been wanting to give this one a shot so we did last night. It didn’t live up to my expectations, but also wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I ordered off their value meal — 6 jumbo fried shrimp plus all I could eat salad bar. My husband got the chicken club sandwich(my second choice) and salad bar. I liked my shrimp a fair bit — they were soaked in butter then fried so the outside was dry and crispy but the inside was tender and sweet. Hubby liked his chicken sandwich, though said it was almost burnt on the outside. I would have liked that but he didn’t care for it so much. He loved his trip to the salad bar and found lots of choices that made him a beautiful and tasty salad. I didn’t enjoy my salad bar as much. I was surprised how many items were very hard to reach in the back of the bar and I’m tall with long arms. I wondered how short or elderly customers got things like carrots or if they just did without. The cucumbers were cut into very big chunks and I was surprised by that too. They had a good selection of greens, including standard lettuce, spring mix, and baby spinach. Three soups available and a bar of hot foods/appetizers. I was happy to find my old favorite — fried balls of corn-off-the-cob. I was sad that it tasted dry and like it had been under the heat lamp for a long time. Taco shells were available by asking your server. Their rice was flavorful but I found the pulled pork to taste very boring which means a lot coming from me. Finally, the dessert bar. This consisted of a soft-serve with hot chocolate, caramel sauce, and a half-dozen toppings. Cake-cones were available as well. I found the soft-serve to be a little icy and there was just the vanilla flavor. The hot chocolate had a really odd consistency, kind of like really dense pudding, and I had a lot of trouble getting it off of the spoon and onto my ice cream. I appreciated that the toppings included mini-marshmallows — one of my favorites. The cashier who helped us was very friendly and upbeat. The server who helped us at our table was good, keeping our drinks full and offering us new salad bar plates in a fairly timely manner. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Overall I had an okay dinner here and it satisfied my desire to eat at Sizzler, but I don’t think I’ll have that desire again in the near future. Maybe in another decade. The food was fine but not great. $ 40 for two adults for dinner.

Come on SIZZLER! You need to keep up with the salad bar chicken, potatoes, meat balls and spaghetti! twice now we have had to wait for our favorites. Forty five to an HOUR is to LONG! If you can not get what you came for, after spending your hard earned money than what’s the point in coming! the servers work hard for your business and they have to hear all the grief !! I hear ours complaining too, so I know you get feed back. It should not matter what time of the day people are coming in to enjoy a meal they should receive quality fresh food under the good standing name of «Sizzler», right??? your regular customers are your best advertisement!!!

I used to be a HUGE fan of Sizzler growing-up. I used to eat at the El Segundo location almost weekly and was saddened as the franchise food quality and cleanliness declined year after year. I visited the Ventura location recently and was pleasantly surprised to find a Sizzler run as they should! Cheese bread was fantastic, service was great, and though they wouldn’t let me mix up the all you can eat shrimp meal; eating a lot of shrimp didn’t make me sick & it was good! Did I also mention that it was clean? I also enjoyed a 6oz sirloin which was delicious! Wow, thank you Ventura Sizzler for doing it right! I will be back to tackle the salad bar!

I was pleasantly surprised by the many changes that sizzler has made since my last visit several years ago. At that time I had believed it would be my last, as the restaurant had seen better days. When my parents invited me to dinner I was less than optimistic when they told me that this is where we would be dining, but they insisted that a lot had changed and that the The new manager was much more hands on and was interested with customer feedback, during one of their visits he visited their table and wanted their opinion, he listened as they shared their concerns and thoughts on what would make the restaurant better and said he told them he really wanted to bring Sizzler back to the way it once was. When we arrived at the restaurant it looks much the same, the doors lead to a single file line with the menus on the wall, the cashier was friendly and helpful, in fact I was going to order the short ribs and my dad was thinking about ordering them too and questioned how large they were and so she went back to the kitchen and had the chef plate one and brought it out so he could see, I was very impressed. While my parents ordered I ventured over to the salad bar which the last time I had been to sizzler it was dismal to say the least but wow it has gone from the pits to the tops! Fresh lettuce, lots of different veggies to put on your salad, cottage cheese, pasta salad, potato salad, there was also a worker cleaning along the salad bar as I was looking it over, and best of all they have Catalina dressing! Once my parents placed their order we went to find seating & I was struck by The warmer tone of the restaurants dining area they now have booths along the window area which appears more inviting and comfortable, once we were seated the server came to take our drink orders she was attentive and checked on us several times during our meal, My dad had opted to get the tri-tip and he is very particular with the way his meat is cooked, when she arrived with his order she asked him if he would please cut into his meat to verify if it was to his liking, otherwise she would take it back to the kitchen and have it remade to his liking, my Dad liked that. My mom ordered the shrimp Alfredo she kept commenting how spicy it was, something to know about my mom… she has a sissy mouth can’t even handle pepper, she ate the Shrimp and pushed away the rest, the server saw this and approached concerned my Mom explained what was going on and our server went to the back and spoke to the chef who told her they put red pepper & cayenne in the sauce. They offered to replace my Moms meal but she declined. I ordered the all you can eat short ribs, I have no idea what I was thinking because i never end up getting more because I get stuffed with the first serving, but I digress ., the meat that I could find was tender and flavorful, but for this carnivore there were too many bones for my liking. I also got a one trip salad bar and that was delicious. All in all had a very nice experience, thumbs up to the new Manager for making these improvements and thumbs up to the staff for being friendly and thoughtful, and if you are lucky, one of the servers will make you a tin foil rose., lol my Mom was very impressed by that. :)

This place isn’t as bad as the reviews say. It’s pretty good. My boyfriend and I got steaks. The reviews were correct on that they aren’t very good at temperatures on steaks because mine was medium and definitely not medium rare which was what I’d ordered. The toast was FANTASTIC though and the baked potatoes were good too! Ribs were good and the sauce used for them was the perfect taste. Didn’t touch the salad bar because I’m picky and salad bars have always seemed gross to me. Service was very prompt and our waiter returned often to make sure we’d had what we needed. I’d go back again!
