I order for delivery here a lot. The owners are sweet and the prices are fair so I keep going back. My favorite meals are a couple sides of garlic naan with some raita. And I would love to try their vegetable curries sometime soon. Since everyone working there is so sweet it’s another reason I come back. Well a couple weeks ago I made the same order along with some extra shrimp curry and it was fantastic! Props to Maharaja!

Ok so we came after reading reviews here and ordered veg biryani(rice cooked with veggies), khoya kaju curry, garlic naan and masala chai(Indian tea). We already mentioned our spice level low and still received all food very very spicy. Me and my husband had stomach burn after one bite. Chef used so much whole spices(row cloves, cinnamon sticks and other Indian spices) along with lots of red chili powder. Their chai(tea) was over boiled or just microwave heated not appropriate. Curry was spicy too but ok with naan. when u order plz be careful about spice level or eat at your own risk :(

I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised by our meal from Maharaja. We too ordered through Unilocal Eat24Hours. We have gone back and forth ordering from Taj and Himalaya in the past, but have had disappointing deliveries from them both in the last year. Maharaja’s tandoori chicken was absolutely perfect! Moist and flavorful. The same can be said of the lamb tikka and sheekh kabab. We also had the lamb curry and the aloo gobhi… also excellent! Along with the garlic naan, rice, chutney, etc etc… we were very happy with our food selections… And yes they are generous with the portions. We made two meals out our delivery. I’m giving a one star deduction for our being shorted an order of samosas that we ordered and paid for. Only $ 4, but still ! We will definitely be ordering from Maharaja again though!

I never thought to order Indian food for takeout. This food was amazing and the portions were huge, especially compared to the other Indian restaurant in town! I’m hooked.

I’ve never understood why this place is always so empty! Great food, great service. I’ve been coming here for 15 years. They will also accommodate vegan diets if you ask.

Never order biryani here. IMHO they need to stop putting biryani in menu. Hoping that some restaurant in Ventura will match paradise biryani in Artesia. Having said this other dishes are good

Wow… We loved it. I don’t know why we don’t come here more often. The service is excellent. The food is pretty good. The crowd is so nice and friendly. It’s always best and clean. We leave with a big smile. I won’t take so long in visiting next time.

Well where do I begin. If an authentic Indian experience is what your are looking for, then definitely check out Maharaja’s. Their spicy spectrum is fair, meaning medium won’t be spicy, spicy will be manageable, and very spicy will knock your bollocks off, so have a Kingfisher to put out that fire, and if spicy is not your game be sure to eat a Tum afterward. It’s my trick to not deal with any next-day aches and sweltering pains in certain places of my body. Favorite dishes, lamb vindaloo spicy. Specialty Naans are delicious, especially the Garlic Chilli Naan, and the Paneer Kulcha(a Naan stuffed with home-made cheese, mildly spiced).

We used to always go here for the lunch buffet because we had a coupon for buy one get one free. The last time we had it they wouldn’t honor it. It clearly said dine in only which we ate there but they tried to say it says«dinner only» which it does not. That was the last time I will ever go there. Don’t put coupons out if you don’t honor them. There are way better Indian places out there. Go to the curry leaf in Camarillo. Best Indian food and worth the price.

I’m glad that my hubs wasn’t hungry for dinner, because this finally gave me the chance to try Maharaja. My hubs doesn’t like Indian food, so I took this opportunity to pick whatever I wanted, & what I wanted/was craving for was spicy Indian food. My ultimate favorite location suddenly closed down a few months ago(Bollywood on the corner of Main and California). After that, it was hard for me to find myself eating at any other place. I have since tried Taj,(which is also on Main St., in downtown) — but Taj is expensive. I placed my Maharaja order through Eat24, which is the option to order via Unilocal and either pick it up at the restaurant or have it delivered, I opted to go pick it up so that I can physically see the restaurant. There is ample parking on either side of the restaurant, which is located on the very busy southern side of Main St. When I arrived around 7:30pmish, there was only 1 couple eating in the restaurant. The 2 workers were waiting at the cash register with my food, paper-bagged and ready for pick up. The 2 gentlemen were very nice and even handed me some coupons for the next time I visit. I saw in the dinning area, that they offer buffet style eating, this is offered around lunch time. On the counters behind the register, they had a display of beer and wine bottles, but don’t have a full bar, FYI. Chicken Vindaloo is my GO-TO dish anytime I eat Indian Food. Why I love it, is because you can get it extra, extra spicy and unlike curry, vindaloo dishes are not very thick and/or heavy. Vindaloo is more like a stew vs. curry. The vindaloo here at Maharaja is definitely cooked with more of the tomato paste, but still have a lot of different spice flavors. My true rating is on how the vindaloo is cooked. So I like my vindaloo cooked with boneless chicken thighs, because this part of the chicken is not as tough and has a lot of juicy flavor. Other places use lean chicken breast, and it’s more tough than juicy– I will definitely ask for it to be much more spicer next time. I also ordered a serving of the Aloo Gobi, which is potatoes and cauliflower, next time I’ll get spicy. The basmati rice is pretty tasty & cooked/steamed with butter. Overall, I had an easy experience with placing my to-go/pick up order through Unilocal. After placing the online order, I received my food within a good time and the food is pretty tasty. This place is definitely cheaper than Taj. I would like to try Himalaya near the Ave to compare chicken vindaloos. Keep an out, I will be trying that place and comparing the 3 vindaloos… Please, feel free to check out my pics!

One of the best Indian food places in town. I recently came here for a friend’s birthday party with a group of twelve. It was a Sunday brunch buffet at 11:30am. We called 30 minutes before our arrival to let them know of our army that was on its way and they were warmly accommodating to our party size. We were lead to a giant table and the food festivities began. Even though it was a buffet, the employees were attentive to our drink refills and bussing of our dirty plates. As soon as a plate was finished, they appeared to clear it. The atmosphere is simple, yet clean(and the bathrooms were clean too!) There plenty of vegan/vegetarian options which produced a table of happy, full people. Their rice and samosas were exceptionally delicious, and I went back for seconds! The price was cheap, and there was ample parking in the lot on the west side of the restaurant. I cannot wait until my next visit here.

I have been to several Indian buffets for lunch and this is the best I have ever had! I’ll be honest I hardly ever pick Indian because the spices are hard on me but it was just beautiful. The food was delicious. Walked in and a very nice Indian woman greeted us with a friendly smile sat us in a booth and took our drink order. Got up to grab our food and it was just so great to see different things I have never seen before! Oh so delightful!

I’ve only been here for the lunch buffet and I love it. I won’t say it’s the BEST Indian food I’ve had, but definitely very good. The buffet is very reasonably priced and there is a good selection of food. The best part… as much Naan as you can ask for. Great value for your dollar!

For all you Ventura folks, Maharaja is much better than Taj Café in my opinion. Plus, you can get a coupon on and they will honor it. Restaurant is open late and is clean. They have lunch buffets but I haven’t tried them. Their chicken tikki masala is legit and unlimited refills on the chai tea! However, when it comes to Indian food, I only have one true love: Punjabi Tandoor in San Diego/Santa Ana. We also tried their spicy garlic naan. May want to stick to their regular naan or their garlic naan as it appears a lot fluffier! No complaints but it comes in at a standard 3 stars for me.
