Please don’t consider me a Unilocal snob! I had a less than stellar feeling when we walked in… The menus were stained and filthy… It just had a run down feeling… One reviewer wrote«you can tell when the bread arrives» — he’s right — the bread was crap. The food wasn’t bad! It was very adequate! It’s just weird to be in a town like this eating adequate food… I really expected the whole town to be 5 stars… The town has so much potential… Meatballs tasted good, rubbery texture. Chicken parm was soggy. Pesto seafood pasta was ok, but the seafood was definitely not ‘top shelf’. NOT a bad place, just don’t expect great…

For me it all starts with the bread… the bread has tasted par-baked.it was not the crusty italian bread you’d expect. this is the second time i have been to this place(because a group of us went, this was their choice) although the fettuccine alfredo was tasty… and as for the waitstaff, they were great and on top of it, they get 4 stars…

Went there for their special pasta Tuesday deal, was awesome service and food was delicious. On Tuesdays it’s $ 16 for a salad, main course and tirimisu dessert or $ 20 if you want a glass of house wine as well. I got the chicken, mushroom paperdelle with a Tama toe cream sauce and it was delicious, house green salad was delicious light tangy vinaigrette and ceasar looked equally as good. Husband got linguine and meatballs and was delicious as well. We’ll worth a trip

I would give this place 3.5 stars. Our table ordered chicken Parmesan, pappardelle with a creamy sauce over chicken and mushrooms, and a scallop pasta dish. Everything tasted good, but felt too salty. Loved that the waitress grated fresh Parmesan cheese on our pasta!

My Husband and I walked in with the impression we would each get a glass of wine and an appetizer or dish to share and boy were we disappointed from the very first few minutes we sat down. First, the waitress did not bother to hand us a drink menu; we had to get up ourselves to grab one. When my husband asked her which wines qualify for the seasonal sangiovese and/or pinot noir she did not bother to answer our question but instead demanded we show her our ID’s. We showed her our ID’s and she walked away and brought back a sangiovese bottle… did not bother to review which wines qualify for the seasonal bottle deal. After this ordeal she brings back two water glasses for our WINE! We asked for some water and my husbands cup comes to our table with coca cola splashed all over the outside and some grimy dirt on the inside. We ask her for a clean glass of water and she proceeds to ask us(jokingly I hope) «Oh you don’t like a little bit of dirt in your cup?» I did not even know how to respond at this point. Lastly, we had to ask her for our cork back since she did not even ask us after opening our bottle if we would like to retain the cork since drinking a whole bottle of wine amongst two people is a bit much for an early afternoon. We ordered the margarita pizza which was very good and the rosemary seasoned bread which was complimentary was amazing. All being said, we were both quite disappointed and will not return here again.

Had a great margarita pizza and walnut salad. They were also very gracious to accommodate our request to substitute the shredded mozzarella for the buffalo mozzarella wedges on the pizza, which was yummy! Both the hostess and waitress were incredibly sweet; they made a casual dining experience quite significant for my mother and I on our overnight trip to Ventura Beach. Thank you!

I’m sure we were just here on a bad day. Only 2 tables occupied at 2 in the afternoon. Chicken picata was horrible. My kids enjoyed the chicken alfredo. My wife enjoyed the Capricio sampler with all the seafood. Service was good. I didn’t complain. Since I was some hungry, I ate it.

I’ve only eaten here once, but I was pretty impressed. I went with my husband and my parents, and they all thought it was one of the best meals we’ve had on Main Street so far. Everybody got something different(all vegetarian though), and everyone was satisfied. Only thing I WOULDN’T recommend, is sitting outside though; the tables and chairs outside were like an afterthought, so you’re basically just dining right on the sidewalk. People walking by kept bumping into my husband’s chair, and we also had someone digging through the trashcan on the sidewalk right next to us… But it definitely wasn’t enough to spoil a good meal!

You’ve got to try Capriccio’s Tuesday Pasta Night. The meal includes bread, a Caesar salad, a glass of house wine, your choice of a variety of pasta dinners, and dessert. The total price: A whopping $ 20! Such a great deal! It was a delicious meal complete with ambience and atmosphere. For the hour or so we dined, I thought I was in Italy. On second thought, I give it 10 stars! John Howard Oxnard, Calif.

An old school Italian staple you must visit! They serve wine in water glasses, very traditional. The food was exceptional! We had the fettuccine Alfredo add shrimp plus the pasta dish with sausage in it. Both were delicious. Seasoning was perfect and portion size was appropriate. It’s located in downtown Ventura on a corner near public parking. Inside you have a view of the bustle on the streets. It’s a cute place!

I love this place! Everything we ordered was sooooo good. I never seen my son enjoy food as much as the ahi bruschetta he totally loves it. I have to admit that capriccio is probably the best Italian restaurant in Ventura county, great friendly staff, great food, very reasonable price. What more could you ask for.

Great food and attentive service. My wife had the cioppino and I had the sea bass. Both fantastic and very reasonable. i would definitely recommend this place if you are in Ventura.

We try to come here every chance we get. The Chicken Picatta is to die for. A generous piece of chicken breast with a fantastic sauce. The fresh lemon that they add to the sauce adds a Wow factor. Fresh bread is served almost as soon s you sit down.

I love this place. I dismiss all the negative reviews. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love all the food. The menu is very eclectic, and delicious. The desserts are very good. I am there every 1 – 2 weeks. In the summer, you have to reserve a table, as it gets busy. The noise level can be high, but one has to accept this.

Watermelon Salad Delicious and tasty arugula with watermelon slices at the bottom and balsamic vinaigrette. Usually comes with blue cheese but we opted for gorgonzola on the side. Would recommend it. Chicken corn risotto This is the best! The whole reason why we even think of coming to Capriccio. It’s actually not on the menu so you can just order it. Very creamy but not so cheesy like some risotto. We opted out of the extra parmesan on top. Dominic Pizza A chicken pizza with alfredo sauce(white pizza) with red onion and cilantro. I wish it was a bit more heavy on the alfredo personally but my husband appreciated that it wasn’t so I guess we break even on this one. Tasty and would recommend. The only downside is the pricing like many Italian restaurants, dishes can run a bit expensive. We had a party of three people and with three dishes, a soda, a mocha latte(which was excellent BTW), and a pinot, bill came out to be about $ 66. Parking is free if there are available spots in the free lot which is a good 2 – 3 min walk or there is meter parking right next to the restaurant if you’re lazy!

Great atmosphere. Lovely place for a family dinner while visiting Ventura. Great location, was fun to stroll around the neighborhood after dinner. Service was fast. My favorite was the desserts — amazing! Main course was good, not great. My spaghetti bolognese had celery in it which was odd. Lovely!

FOODPOISONING!!! Do not go to capriccio!!! We used to love Capriccio, used to be really good food. My hubby and I went last night — we ordered mussels to start off with and ended up sending those back. They were old and should have never been served to us, totally obvious they were not safe for human consumption. We should have left after that, but we thought it was an isolated incident. My hubby orders the chicken parmesian and i order fettucine bistecca. The chicken tasted odd, but we thought it was maybe because they were lazy and soaked it in the piccata sauce. No, the chicken was either undercooked or spoiled. They put enough cheese on top to give a horse constipation, so i think they knew the chicken was bad. My hubby has not stopped throwing up since 4 in the morning… it’s coming out of both ends to be honest. We saw many plates get sent back. Many. And the manager didn’t even have the balls to apologize to us about trying to kill us with bad mussels when he collected our plates, had we known what would happen this morning we would have left. Our waitress was a doll, though. She did a really good job.

My fondest memory of capriccio is going there for my 40th Birthday and being sung Happy Birthday by my friends only to have an older gentleman get up and serenade me in Italian. Service is always on point, the best seating is in the front by the windows so you can people watch while you dine. The food is good but to be honest I think the atmosphere and great service are why I’m giving it 4 stars. I’ll come back and update my review after my next visit to give you my review on the food.

«I would like to eat delicious pasta!!!», I said and my friends took me to this restaurant. I heard this restaurant was No.1 restaurant on VC reporter so I was really looking forward to trying their pasta. The restaurant is decent size, not so big and not very small, and I like the brick wall. I ordered thick pasta with lobster(I forgot the name) because I like lobster and my friends ordered spaghetti and risotto. When my friend asked about risotto, the waitress said, «we will make any risottos, whatever you want!» and my friend ordered seafood(scallop, shrimp. etc) risotto which wasn’t on the menu. It was good, a little bit too salty for us. The pasta the other friend ordered was also tasty. About the pasta I ordered, it was very creamy and rich, I liked it. It was exactly what I expected! We also ordered gorgonzola cheese and beets salad for sharing. It looked very fresh and tasted good too. After the meal, the waitress asked us if we would like dessert but unfortunately we all were full. Overall, I was happy with my experience at this restaurant. I would like to go and try another pasta again soon. ※They don’t have a parking space so you have to park at public parking(a little bit far) or park on the street…
