Recently, had a poor experiene at Zack’s for dinner. Ordered halibut. It was dry. Asked for tarter sause… they said that they didn’t have any. I tried lots of lemon. did not help. This was accompanied by a few overcooked, limp vegetables and one small ‘new’ potato cut in half. All this for $ 24.00. Others I was dining with said that their food was just ‘fair’, but terribly overpriced. Never again.

Had lunch last week with a colleague. I had the vegetarian sandwich with pesto and he had a salad with chicken. I love this sandwich when I’m trying to keep my meat consumption down. The pesto is awesome and complements the grilled vegetables and cheese. The salad was fresh, and the grilled chicken tasty, but what else can you say about salad?
One of my favorite places in Ventura for both lunch and dinner. The owner is pleasant, friendly and attentive. I’ve never had a bad dish at Zack.

This place is nice for a special occasion, it’s very small, but not intimate. On a busy night, make reservations. It does get loud due to many conversations happening in one small room.

We’ve loved going to this place for years! Excellent food, quiet atmosphere and incredible service. Filet with Bearnaise is beyond heaven, but you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu! A true treasure for Ventura County!

FINALLY! I have lived in Ventura for a little over a year now and never had a chance to go to Café Zack. I finally had the opportunity for a business lunch two days before Christmas. This place is everything I have heard about and BETTER! I think hands-​down the service and the food is the best in Ventura! And what is so wonderful is it is a locally owned establishment in an adorable old house on E Thompson.
Service was wonderful start to finish. We were greeted with smiles and told goodbye with a smile. Service was prompt but not intruding as we were having a business conversation.
I had the salmon on a bed of quinoa and mixed vegetables. It was delicious. The table of five had a variety of dishes and everyone was satisfied.
I can’t wait to take my husband to Café Zack for a dinner date. I will be sure to have enough appetite to try one of their desserts as they sounded amazing on the description on the menu.

This place was beyond amazing! The service was exceptional, the food was beyond my expectations and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I am definitely going to come out more often and will recommend to all my friends and family! 5 stars, no doubt!

The advantage of Unilocal reviews-​when we came back to Zack’s, I knew it had been 8 months since we last ate here, and knew what I enjoyed on our last visit.
This time, 3 friends and my hub and I arrived at 5:30 opening time to fit in dinner before a Rubicon theater play that started at 7. We felt badly about rushing through a quality meal of nicely grilled salmon, pasta, and pork loin, and barely managed to squeeze in the berry bread pudding, thanks to help from a busy but accomodating kitchen staff. Next time we will go for a more leisurely meal.

This is one of my regular hang outs. By far some of the best food and ambiance in the area. I really like it here. The staff is wonderful and caring. Really the only setback is that you wait for the food. You come here to relax and savor the experience. Don’t be in a hurry or you’ll leave miserable. They take their time in the kitchen but the results are worth it.
Get the seafood curry — it is amazing. Oh, and the Zacks Pie will probably blow your mind (boom baby).
