Easily the best record store I’ve ever been to. The owner will help you find anything you are looking for and %99 percent of the time he has it. Buy lots of records and he will always give you a discount. Huge inventory you can flip through records for hours while the owner keeps you entertained with good music and awesome conversations.

Been buying records in Dr D’s since I was a sophomore back in 1985. Every week I would blow my allowance on rare Paul McCartney solo recordings. I remember one week my dad picked me up there and walked out with a rare foreign soundtrack. To this day my father remembers this record purchase. Since American Pie moved to Ventura he has contacted me when records come out that would interest you. Like Edith and the late Tino of the Italian Market you aren’t a customer of this vinyl only store, you’re family. Just cancel all your other afternoon plans.

I’ve been coming here for years. Here you will find some of the rarest records that you’ve only heard about. If you need a specific hard to find piece for your collection here is where you will find it. You can easily spend all day here. Dennis knows his stuff when it comes to vinyl. The owner will play whatever record you want during your visit so its real easy to get lost in the vinyl. This is the truest record store I’ve ever been to. Its a must visit for any vinyl collector.

American Pie Records is what I want out of every record store I go to: tons of records, bargain bins, shit everywhere, and an owner who is affable, a treasure trove of music knowledge, and downright funny. I’m going to say that this place isn’t for the weak of heart. It is crowded with nothing but vinyl(no CDs or tapes here). And no new vinyl. Only used. There are boxes EVERYWHERE and lots of hard to find lps. Only go if you intend to spend like 2+ hours because between the amount of records to rifle through and the owner, you’ll need it. There are plenty of bargains but don’t go in expecting to find something like Skip Spence’s «Oar» or an OGUK pressing of «Are You Experienced» for a couple bucks. Hard to find records are reasonably priced, I found but you are going to have to pay real money for real records. That’s life, guys. The good Doctor is awesome. This guy knows his music, inside and out. And knows where every single record is in his massive space. Hell, he might even offer you a beer. Highly recommended.

Strictly vinyl which is the best part of this place. Cool store, in a storage bin type space, but you’re going to pay out the ass. Caters to 50’s and 60’s but there’s a little bit of everything. Great place to dig and even you don’t buy anything you’ll come out of here knowing more than you knew when you arrived.

I love this place! So many hard to find records. The owner really loves music and selling records. It’s easy to spend a lot of time in this store. Not many places like this left!
