Norma Jean’s Bar & Grill

I am always looking for the best wings in town as well as the best place to watch football. Norma Jean’s has become my new favorite place for Sunday football! Tons of t.v.‘s and was asked before seating which game I was watching to seat me in view of my game. That was a nice touch. They are tied for the best wings in Venice and the atmosphere is so much more comfortable and festive than it’s local sports bar competitors. The only complaint is that there is usually a wait to be seated — as is the case at every sports bar in Venice on game days — so show up early for your game to ensure a seating by kick off.

Went here while visiting my folks. It came recommended for good burgers. Food was mediocre sports bar food, which I guess makes sense since it is a sports bar.
The burger options were definitely interesting but the quality of the ingredients really brought it down. The bun could have been the same as you’d get at Burger King on a whopper. The burger patty was fairly small as well.
The staff was really friendly and that’s why they got 3 stars over 2. If I’m in the mood for a burger again I will stick with Brewburgers.

We have frequented often and had good food and service. Tonight was a disappointment. Food was cold and service mediocre. At no point did anyone ask if everything was to our satisfaction. Hope it is not the beginning of a trend.

Don’t eat here! We went (two couples) for dinner our last night of vacation. We
ordered onion rings for an additional $ 1.50 each instead of fries. A total of 4 onion rings were on the plate! The waitress rushed us through dinner by constantly clearing plates so much so that we stopped eating and gave up. A great recipe for indigestion. How disappointing. We will not be back please don’t think the room was crowded. There were more empty seats than full seats. In hindsight no surprise…

Gave Norma Jean’s another try. Still Sam’s club food.

Great place. Try the pork tenderloin. The chili and coleslaw are also a good choice. Wait staff is very attentive

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat and was very impressed. I ordered wings and the fried ravioli. Both which were excellent. I was also shocked to see a great craft beer selection on tap. Most places in Venice lack this.
The bartender was on his game and kept me filled.
My only dislike is that it does have a bar feel and not the restaurant feel. It was dark but not bad at all. I will come back for sure.

The Philly cheese steak and the Norma Jean chips were both great. We were there Sunday afternoon during NCAA tournament and car race, place was busy and service was still great. Prices were good.

Had a pizza at this establishment last night. Was not very good. Place eas very clean. Would not recommend it for pizza. Not sure what the rest of the food is like but stay away from the pizza.

This place was and is a totaal joke. What a disaster. Went with a buddy of mine for some beers and a good time. Couldn’t get either. The owner of the place was behind the bar, looked at me several times and never even offered me a drink. With one bartender on, took at least 10 to 15 minutes to get a beer, and the bar was not slammed by any means. The place had NO music NO Tv noise, DEAD. Night of the walking dead. We then were seated where we ordered wings. They were under cooked and had been frozen for some time. They were not tasty and had a fatty look to them. Not going ever again. Thanks Norma Jean.

Good to stop by for a brew, happy hour specials are great, nightly food specials, nothing fancy but very comfortable and the food is always good, bar staff very frindly and attentive, not much else to say except i would return

My dining companion (DC) and I decided to give Norma Jean’s another try, deciding that we wanted to try their burgers. We went on a Friday night again, the night for their Fish Fry. DC decided to hold off on a burger and get the Fish Fry. What a disaster! The fish, supposedly cod, was translucent, had no flavor (frozen fish?) and the batter was a soggy mess and too salty. I ordered the chili burger, which was a huge mistake. Chili straight out the can. The hamburger patty was a pre-​formed, frozen patty. A previous reviewer said the burger was fresh from a local market. Sure, that’s what the menu says, but there is no way this hamburger was fresh. Sure, maybe it was fresh before it was frozen. The burger had no taste at all, even with the canned chili. I do give them props for using a toasted bun. But when all you can say is that the bun was the best part, you know you are in trouble.
I also give them props for making hand-​cut fries, but if you are going to use hand-​cut fries, you have to know how to cook the fries. Hand-​cut fries need to be blanched first, or you will end up with a good-​looking fry that tastes like a raw potato, which it did. Very disappointing!
The only thing that saves this place from receiving zero stars is that the service is friendly.
If you are ever looking for the owner, he is the one who is always outdoors sitting at a table either talking on the phone or watching TV. If you are going to own a restaurant, you need to be involved!

Well we had drinks the first time and then came back for dinner to watch basketball. I own a bar in Ohio and all I can say is this place either needs an owner or manager on site. I ordered chilli cheeseburger and a beer. Never saw waitress until food came out without the chilli. Chilli was cold and had to send back. (waitress said it’s always that way). Then never saw her again until she brought check. My beer was empty for at least 10 – 15 minutes. Don’t know where she went but obviously didn’t care about the customer. So many young people don’t slow down, listen, and certainly don’t care. I know you think I’m an old goat but that’s not the case. I’m 63 and run two businesses on a daily basis.

We went there tonight for a burger and they were excellent! I got the regular cheeseburger, cooked medium well. I was surprised at how tender and moist the burger was and then learned that they get fresh hamburger from a local meat market daily, never frozen! It is a large burger and I actually didn’t finish all my chips (which are homemade, but maybe a little greasy)…
Service was excellent and the food came out quickly. The place is definitely a sports bar with about 50 (yes 50) tv’s in the room including one at each booth! Seems kinda cool, but I wonder how noisy it gets when the place is real busy? Could be a lot of fun during a big game!

I had a co-​worker take me here a couple days ago and it was pretty good overall. It is a tiny sports bar that is expanding now for a second time, which shows that they are doing things right. Right now the strip mall they are in is going through a major renovation and I’m sure will look great on the outside once it is done. They are also planning to have some outside seating once the work is done. Should be a great atmosphere once it’s all done.
This place was packed for lunch. The guy I was with got the grouper bites with coleslaw and homemade potato chips. I got the chili cheese burger with homemade chips. He said that the grouper bites were really good, except for a little too much breading for his taste. My burger was good and the chips were really good as well. I would definitely like to try some other items on their menu the next time that I am in Venice and having lunch in the area.
The service was very good and both of the women working the floor were extremely attentive. The one lady who was not even our server was willing to help clear, fill drinks, and create small talk to make sure everything was going great. This is how you keep customers coming back and I will definitely be making it back again.
