Everything I’ve ever gotten here = super duper delicious, fresh, just yummy. The turnaround time for an order is usually pretty slow though. It always takes twice as long as they say, so you might wait a good 20 minutes for your food, but it’s worth the wait.

Dirty hole in the wall with excellent food. I had the Limo Soltado(?) but have heard excellent things about the rotisserie chicken. Will absolutely return.

A perfect place to visit if you are craving for authentic Peruvian food, this is my go to place every single time I’m by the Venice beach. I’ve eaten their food multiple times and the chef makes sure the food is consistent with the taste and quality. The rotisserie chicken here is absolutely delicious and very popular among the locals, they make it fresh everyday and it’s gone by 5 in the evening. The chicken is very moist, juicy and cooked to perfection which goes very well with steamed rice and the green sauce, amazing blend of hot and spice.

So guuud. Had the ceviche, lomo saltado, yuca frita, plantains, and a half chicken. All of it was tasty.

I am now on a craving fix for Peruvian food. Maybe it’s because I have the absolute worst eating habits and tend to go 12+ hours without so much as a snack, and then I take the last great thing I ate and obsess over it until I eat something. That happened today. It’s a tiny, literal hole-in-the-wall down at the Venice Boardwalk. It is an absolute bitch to find parking, so do not go expecting this to be easy. Park a few blocks away, I assure you that even after 15 minutes of looking you won’t find something(and if you do, buy a lottery ticket). Boyfriend and I got the Lomo Saltado, which is beef with veggies and fries(what the fuck, this was amazing and weird) in a sauce, along with rice, with a side of plantains. I was wholly surprised at how good this was. Apparently everyone comes here for the rotisserie chicken, but the lomo saltado is not to be missed, either. Pour that green stuff all over it and just let your troubles melt away. The plantains are by far the best I’ve ever tasted, too — and I’ve actually had quite a lot, so, I dunno, listen to me(or not whatever you can miss out: P). Highly recommended. I suggest ordering for pickup, then eating there at one of the stools. When you walk in, take a right and go all the way down — you’ll pass by other hole-in-the-walls, but rest assured it’s there. Not cash only.

Solid good. Not exceptional. But tasty. I had ceviche mixto. Next time I’d go for straight ceviche pescado. But tbh with so many good options I’d opt for elsewhere.

Simply put, amazing tasting food at decent price. It is one of the hidden gems in Venice, grouped together in a building with other restaurants. El Huarique is always my go-to restaurant during the workday. Any of the fried rice dishes or noodle dishes are very tasteful, almost like an Asian fusion.

I only came here once but I can tell you it’s a spot to order and go or order and eat at the bar. Not a date spot for sure. I got the ceviche mixto and the seafood was good but I think it’s over priced for the amount you get. I don’t care for the corn or the sweet potato either. Seemed like odd sides to me. But then again I’m not Peruvian so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. Lol.

This place is simply awesome, a must-try! First off, don’t go for the ambiance. This place is quite literally a hole in the wall. You go down a hallway and it’s in the middle there, a hole in the wall with a small counter and bar stools in front of it. That may sound terrible, but it’s really fine. You hang out and talk to the other patrons and the help, who were all very friendly(and if you know Venice, a little bit out there). The food is what you come here for. Everything was made right in front of us, and quality/taste was simply stunning. Portions are generous, and the price is low. My party of three shared parts of our meals, and everyone was equally impressed with everything we tried. The available fruit drinks are made there daily, and taste fantastic, with no sugar or other junk added. Worth the drive even if you’re not nearby.

Hole in the wall spot that we came upon in Venice. They don’t really have much seating(literally a tiny bar looking table attached to the restaurant and a few seats). We were able to sit and eat because there wasn’t anyone really there. My BF had the lomo and I had the ¼ rotisserie chicken with rice and salad. So good! This place is legit. I always trust the hole in the wall spots because they’re usually better than the other places…

The absolutely best peruvian food I’ve had! I was so glad to come and check this place out during our trip to Venice. I honestly think they have one of the best ceviche I’ve ever tried! Most def will be coming back if I’m ever in town again!

Best Peruvian food I’ve had outside of Peru. We got here just as they were closing and they were so generous and accomadating. Took only 10 minutes to make our food fresh(I know because I could see them prepare it in the kitchen of this tiny hole in the wall). We then took our take-out and had a picnic at sunset on Venice Beach. Magical date night. TOGET: –Aji de Gallina: promise me you’ll get this. Such a unique dish. Bright yellow, vaguely peanuty sauce with potatoes, eggs, olives and shredded juicy chicken. Generous portion –Lomo Saltado: a classic, cooked to perfection. The tomatoes are bursting with juice and the meat is not overdone. The fries stay crispy despite the onion juice dripping all over them. delicious –yucca fries: crispy. perfect amount of salt. Fresh herbs. good portion size –extra green sauce: the sauce is so good! not too spicy, just flavorful. Maybe basil??? I asked for extra to dip the yucca fries in. TOSKIP: nothing, literally, I’d recommend this exact order again

My favorite Peruvian place of all times! I used to come here everyday for lunch and get their ¼ chicken special and extra green sauce. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s a must! Every dish I’ve tried here has be phenomenal. The head chef and staff are always really friendly and often let me try out some of their specials as a taste tester. This is the best spot to go to if you’re in the Venice area.

Venice Beach is known for many things but I wasn’t aware they had this Authentic Peruvian Food. They located in the food court which very close to the beach itself. Most food in the area are American, Mexican, and some sushi. The restaurant is very small, you basically eat everything takeout. There’s only about few handful of stand up chair. Their menu has a lot of variety. I ended up getting the Tamal Peruano. A peruvian style tamale. Similar to the mexican version except it has egg and the color is yellowish. I wasn’t fan of the chicken, pork would be better fit I think. It comes wiht 2 side salads which is nice. Price is fair around mid $ 7. My friends ordered the Paella de marisco and Lomo Saltado The Paella was expensive around $ 15, portion were huge but tasted were just ok. However the Lomo Saltado was excellent. The steak tasted yummy, not sure about the fries since I didn’t get to sample that. They also had Inca kola, which is a Peruvian Coke. Overall, this restaurant is a good welcome in the area. I don’t think is as good as other peruvian restaurant but most of those are located not tourist friendly area.

I’m a big fan of peruvian food and this place does not disappoint! Living in LA, you have to take advantage of the constant gorgeous weather and whats a better way to enjoy the outdoors than getting peruvian take out and enjoying it on the beach! I came here for lunch on a weekday, picked up passion fruit fish ceviche, lomo saltado, and passion fruit juice and had a picnic by the skate park off of venice boardwalk. Delicious food + people watching under clear blue skies, perfect way to spend your lunch hour! Street parking can be tricky to find on weekends, but weekdays are not bad!

Hole in the wall for sure, but can I tell you this place is BOMB?! Tucked away in what seems like an alley on the bustling tourist filled streets of the Venice Boardwalk, is El Huarique. The food is cheap and so delicious. One plate is ample size to share for two for lunch. My boyfriend and I got the Arroz con Mariscos plate. OMG it was so good. I wish I had some now. It was pleasantly surprising to find huge cut portions of octopus tentacles, in the plate. They weren’t kidding when they said seafood… At any other typical spot, they would go stingy on the seafood, but not this place. Don’t let the looks of the restaurant fool you, the food is so good. I would definitely recommend going for the rice plates.

Yes I promised to write this, but after such a wonderful experience I felt compelled to tell everyone about this place. We were bombarded by so many food choices on our first visit to Venice beach and once again I let my fellow Unilocalers lead the way, I am so glad I did! At first I couldn’t believe all of these great reviews were of a small, unassuming lunch counter, I thought, «wait what? …where’s the rest of the restaurant?» But I was not disappointed once I saw the menu. We ordered Passion Fruit Ceviche, Mixed Ceviche, fried Yuca, and two Beef Skewers. We also had the passion fruit juice and chicha morada. All of the food came quickly, the ceviche was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. My son loved the Mixed Ceviche which had a good variety of clams, mussels, octopus… But I was equally impressed with their skewers, they were tender and juicy! And they respected the beef by making it a little charred on the outside and medium(just a hint of pink) inside! The yuca was delicious as well, I loved the spicy green sauce with it. The chicha morada was fresh made, not from some mix. I felt a little uncomfortable about the four of us sitting on bar stools licking our fingers as passers-by would just gawk, but it was worth it! I can’t wait to go back and try the Lomo Salteado! I think next time we will take our food to-go, maybe enjoy with a nice beer or wine! ;)

Fyi, I’m not a pro. Im an average guy who loves to eat. I began Unilocaling for the sole purpose of helping others find delicious places to eat. So, this is the second time I’ve come here. Every time I come here I feel like I’m back in one of Lima’s mercados ordering a menu meal for 6 soles. This place is delicious! Not«cheap,» but for Peruvian food it is price reasonably. I’ve had the lomo saltado, pollo rostisado con papas, and the ceviche. They are all delicious plates! The lomo is cooked through enough to give it its tenderness, but not too much to lose its juice. The rice tastes just like my aunt’s home made white rice. Steamed perfectly. The pollo rostisado is tasty as well. I’m not the biggest fan of chicken so to me it’s like any other well prepared chicken. If you are wanting ceviche, just get it here. It is spicy, flavorful, and filling along with the sweet potato and baked corn. The fish NEVER comes out raw(it marinates/cooks in the lemon). Be aware that you will be eating on a counter side. This is located in a hallway and a few restaurants serve from here. Totally worth it though. It gives it that Peru mercado experience without the hustle and bustle of Lima crowds. It’s no miracle why this place is top rated.
