Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic of the Northwest

Today was my first visit, I saw Dr. Davis. I came in as my allergy-​related sinus symptoms be become increasingly severe of late and I’ve been missing quite a bit of work. I also brought in a packet of FMLA paperwork because this condition keeps me home when my bosses would rather have me working. The Doctor was unfamiliar with how to fill out the forms for a chronic, long-​term condition, and the prospect of reading the paperwork which instructs one how to fill it out made him uncomfortable. Many physicians have filled out this very paperwork in the past, but I am new to the area and was hoping to establish an ENT. Doctor was professional, informative, listened to my symptoms. Of course I feel just fine today. The jist of his response to me was, «Sooo, I don’t know why you’re here, you seem just fine to me.» I tried to explain my history of sinus problems, but he seemed unphased by my endeavor to seek treatment for what is a chronic and sometimes debilitating problem. Overall, should you have something he can throw pills at or operate on, I bet you’re the patient he’s looking for. If you have anything else, seek treatment elsewhere. Very disappointing.

As I called two days in a row to schedule an appointment .
Automated phone system directed me to voicemail with the promise of a call back.
So far only crickets…

So went in to see an audiologist to get a hearing aid for my son. The audiologist pretty much wouldn’t even give us the time of day to talk about hearing aids for my son. Basically made me feel dumb. He said he does not work with our insurance. Well that’s funny your clinic saw us when my son was first diagnosed and performed his first surgery. Now you want to treat me like I’m wasting your time. He literally told me Doernbechers children’s hospital sent us there because they don’t work with our insurance. I was like that’s funny he’s had several audiology appts. 3 surgeries at OHSU and several appts. At the end of the day he told me they are for profit and he can’t make a profit off my son. Okay then tell your staff to be more knowledgable to not schedule appts for people if your Clinic is to good for our insurance! I would never recommend this place to anyone. I asked him to discuss pricing difference from what insurance would cover. He then said I don’t even want to get into those margins with you?!? What a joke, stay away from this clinic.

I see Dr. Jeffrey Davis only had the nerve to reply to one rewiew. Lets see if he has the nerve to reply to this? If you are scheduled to see Dr. Jeffrey Davis, I would suggest that you cancel the appointment! This man will waste your time, energy, and hope for treatment! He will not listen to your symptoms, nor will he care about how he treats you!!! He is rude and unconcerned about his patients well being! After i was refered to ENT Northwest and two week wait, I finally was able to get in and see Dr. Jeffery Davis. I was seen («examined») by this man twice in a four month period for continuous sever sinus infection and ear pain. First time he seen me, I was told by Dr. Davis that «he could not see anything wrong with my sinuses or my ears, they looked perfect so why was wasting his time coming in?» Mind you the time spent examining my ears, nose, and throat was an approximate 4 second look in each… BIG WAST OF MY TIME! The second time, (4 months later with same symptoms) as soon as he entered the room and sees me, he says, «didn’t I see you not to long ago and nothing was wrong with you?» At that point I was completely stuffed up and unable to push/​pull air through the left side of my nose and my ear hurt to touch. He looked in my ears, nose, and throat for about a second each, steps back and says, «like I said before from what is see there is nothing wrong with you! So why are you here?» I then blew my nose and showed him the yellow/​green snot as to say this is why… His response to that was «well then quit blowing your nose like that and you won’t have that problem.» My thought was «are you freaking serious?» I imeaditlly stood up and thanked him for WASTING my time! Frustrated and frankly quite pissed I left the room! Three months later of trying everything my primary Dr. Suggested and still no being able to breathe and the pain had became unbearable, I call ENT Northwest insist on seeing another Dr. This time I get an appointment the next day. (I’m sure the receptionist could here the frustration in my voice). I go in and tell this Dr. my situation (as well as Dr. Davis diagnosis), he looks in my nose gets a puzzled look on his face and asks me «if Dr. Davis looked in my nose?» (Both Dr. and nurse are frantically scrolling through my chart at this point to see what was entered by Dr. Davis) I exclaimed «YES WHY?» He proceeds to tell me that «he doesn’t understand why I was told that nothing is wrong when it was very obvious to him what the problem is. He explained and showed me in a mirror how any Dr. could see it right away»! He then explains that I have a deviated septum and need to be scheduled for a cat scan ASAP! Well guess what Dr. Davis. there is something wrong. The cat scan shows that I have several sever sinus polyps obstructing the entire left side of my sinuses (which is affecting my ear as well) and a deviated septum that needs to be repaired in order for me to breath properly again! I would definitely say that there is something wrong! Now i am going through allergy testing and have been scheduled for surgery. So on that note I have a couple questions for you! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU AND WHY ARE YOU THERE??? Obviously there IS something wrong with YOU!!!

I wish I had read some of these reviews before my visit today. Been having sinus pressure, headaches and itching in my ears etc, so I thought I should go in and see the specialists. What a waste of money! I saw Dr Jeffery Davis. This guy talks down at you when you ask questions and his lack of passion and care is astonishing! I felt like I was wasting his time honestly.
Here is the thing; if I knew what was going on with me, I would not gone to see a specialist in the first place! If you get irritated by a patient asking questions to try and understand whats going on, maybe it time for a new job. I understand you have to be efficient to make money, but brushing off patients is hardly being efficient. I seriously don’t know how someone with such an attitude manages to stay in business.
Anyway, long story short — I wasn’t very happy with visit today. Probably will not be going back there again!

I usually only give good reviews. However, this place was HORRIBLE!!! I was referred by my primary care Dr to get allergy testing done for a chronic cough. After receiving a voicemail (a month later) to schedule an appointment, I left several messages in their general mailbox. No one ever returned my call. Finally I was able to reach the receptionist at 8am, but she couldn’t find my referral and the person who schedules referrals wasn’t available. She wanted to have that person call me later. I refused to let her off the phone without scheduling an appointment. Today I showed up for my appointment on time. I waited for an hour before they brought me back to a room. I waited for another 30 minutes until the Dr. came in. I saw Dr Jeffery Davis. HE DIDN’T LISTEN TO ME AT ALL. He told me he doesn’t listen to his patients because people (unknowingly) give false information. He cited some research study where people said they didn’t have acid reflux… yet digestive enzymes showed up in trace amounts when they had biopsies of their lung fluid. He asked me if I cleared my throat. I said no. He persisted, «you never clear your throat?» I replied, «I rarely clear my throat.» He responded, «So what you’re saying is you clear your throat?» I replied, «Very rarely.» Later in the conversation he told me I need to stop clearing my throat all the time. I told him I don’t clear my throat all the time. He said, «You told me earlier you clear your throat all the time.» I said, «I never said that.» He insisted I did. The rest of the appointment was the same. He didn’t listen to a word I said, he dismissed me when I tried to explain my symptoms, and instead he told me what my symptoms were and what was wrong with me (he was wrong). He told me I didn’t need an allergy test; I just needed to stop clearing my throat and coughing, and when I can’t breathe, just relax. Again I told him I don’t clear my throat. He said, «Just humor me. Just try it. No one else has been able to help you yet, so what have you got to lose?» I insisted on the allergy test my doctor asked for. It is now scheduled but I’m going to ask for a different doctor. Tomorrow I’m going to call Aetna and the clinic’s administrator. I left feeling completely invalidated, angry, and hopeless. He was the worst doctor I’ve ever seen.

I came here after experiencing a bad sinus infection after being referred by my primary doctor to see an ENT. I had been experiencing horrible sinus symptoms and felt I couldn’t wait 5 weeks to be seen by my regular clinic. I decided to make an appointment here and got in the same week. I was seen by Dr. Davis, which from my experience is a horrible physician. I explained my situation and what had been going on. After doing an exam and explaining all my symptoms, he rambled on about irrelevant medical terminology to me not relevant to any of the issues I wanted addressed. He appeared as if he knew what he was talking about, but in the end couldn’t give me any answers, and was going to send me on my way. I asked if he could do a CT scan. He rushed through the scan, without thoroughly going over it, but instead told me everything was fine. I then asked if he would be able to send the CT to my primary doctor, and he told me they couldn’t do that, but he would send her an email of the results. It’s been four weeks and he never sent the email. He wanted me to follow up in 6 weeks. For what? After a month longer of suffering from symptoms I find out it really is a sinus related issue that should have been addressed by an ENT. I am now beyond frustrated. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone with a sinus related issue. Please do yourself a favor and see a real doctor.

I’ll echo what another reviewer said the allergy testing staff is great. Very very friendly, considerate, makes a fairly uncomfortable process not too bad at all.
I first saw Dr. Mitchell, who chose not to do the «scope» that my referral sent me for, but hey– What’s one lack luster doctor? I chose a different one for my allergy follow up, and was given Dr. Jeffrey Davis. I can only guess he’s what «complainers» get for complaining.
AWFUL. Awwwwwwwful. He DID the scope so that’s something. But he was a condescending, snarky, repellent jerk, with a laughably bad bedside manner, who completely invalidated me as a patient.
I just came home from a follow-​up visit with him, (Oh yeah, got him twice) and it was just as bad. Actually, no, it was worse. I left angry. It took everything I had not to tell him off.
I highly advise anyone looking for an ENT to check out somewhere else.

I went and saw Dr. Mitchell today for post nasal drip and actually had a really good visit. He’s a little stern but honestly, sometimes you need that when you’re being emotional and irritable over chronic conditions. He did a very thorough exam of my sinuses/​throat and found that I have GERD which no other ENT has diagnosed me with, so I feel very confident in his practices and the effort he makes to relieve my symptom in the long term rather than just trying to candy coat it and avoid fixing my illness. Hopefully I won’t need to go back and the medication works, but if it comes down to it then I won’t hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Mitchell!

Let me start with the positive, the nurse that performs the allergy testing is great! However, she’s based in the Longview office, and was filling in when I had my testing done. The rest of my experience at the Fishers Landing office has been terrible. At my first appointment on 12÷02÷13, I waited 45 minutes for the doctor. When Dr. Wilson finally entered the exam room, he spent exactly 5 minutes with me, and half way through he left to speak with someone in the hallway. He spent most of the time inquiring about my husbands active duty military status, what insurance we used, and how long we plan on staying in the area. Military insurance pays out much less than most, so I know he was inquiring to figure out how much the practice would make, and if he would have to deal with me long term. I already knew what needed to be done with my sinus issues, as I had been treated for it before relocating here. I had all my records sent over (including prior CT scans), asked multiple times if they had them (they did), and the doctor did not look at them or refer to them once. I know this because I have a pretty serious situation in my sinuses, and when I mentioned it, he was taken aback, and then scrolled through the computer to confirm what I told him. After retaking all the tests (which I understood), the doctor recommended surgery. No surprise there as my prior doc recommended the same. No other details or explanations were given regarding my condition. I only knew what was happening by listening to the doctor tell an assistant what to put on the chart. I was told I would receive a call from the scheduler. This was on 12÷13÷13. I did not receive a call until the afternoon of 12÷20÷13. The scheduler asked when I wanted to have the surgery, and I told her mid-​January 2014. She told me they had not submitted the request for authorization to my insurance company, and can’t schedule anything until it has been approved. Then why are you calling me to schedule it?! She told me she would submit the prior auth that day, but my insurance «takes a long time». It doesn’t. I’ve had 2 surgeries in the last year, and they were both authorized within days, and my surgeries were scheduled less than 2 weeks from my original appointment. As of today (01÷02÷14), I had not heard from the office. I called my insurance company to find out the status of the auth. They had not received anything. I called the scheduler. I asked if she had heard from the insurance company, and she gave me the run around about how they take a long time. Then I told her I already called my insurance, and they have not received anything. After some stumbling over her words, a cop out about her «back up» doing it, and an attitude problem, she said she would submit it today. I called my primary care doctor, and requested a referral to a new ENT doctor. I’ve never experienced such disregard & lack of urgency from a physicians office. It’s a terrible practice all around, and I knew it after my first appointment. All the other events, many I’ve left out of this review, confirmed my feelings. I’m sure if you’re cash paying nose job, they’ll love ya!

I went for ringing in my ears. The back testing room had archaic equipment, was filthy dirty, and the technician didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing. It needs serious remodeling, paint, new carpet and a good old fashion scrub down … yuck! Dr. Adams recommended that I use a hearing aid, the technician said that it wouldn’t help me. I asked about a medication I heard could help my problem and the Dr. said it doesn’t work. Do not use this clinic if you need help. Ridiculous.

For serious help I will look elsewhere in the future.
I saw Mr. McQuivey several times and he was of absolutely no help at all with an oral disorder.
Mr. McQuivey acted as if he had never heard of the disease I appeared to be suffering from which, as it turned out, was not an uncommon disorder of the mouth at all.
When I went to a different ENT they instantly diagnosed the problem and were stunned when I told them of my experience at ENT of The Northwest as was my dentist, both of whom immediately recognized the disorder I had.
So in the end, after making SEVERAL visits to ENT of The Northwest and being relieved of a lot of money I was still suffering terribly… yet upon my FIRST VISIT to another clinic where I was seen by a knowledgeable ENT doctor I was properly diagnosed and given effective treatment.
