Crossroads Community Church

Everyone is looking for something when they enter a church. Connecting with God would be a priority for most, myself included. Jesus is loved, worshiped, taught here and lives are tranformed because of it. My first Sunday, Pastor DeStefano preached. I have been a believer for a long time. I was so excited to learn something fresh and relevant to me. Twenty plus were saved. They were immediately met with to give them bibles and next step instructions. Baptisms are also happening. Those reasons are enough for me to attend.
Honestly, I am new to Vancouver so I am looking for fellowship, friendship and opportunities for service. I was contacted by phone about joining a small group and received a letter from Pastor Fusco after my first week there. There is activity in every aspect of devoted Christianity including missions. I have been there twice and will attend for awhile to learn more.
All of this being said, if you just want to slip in and out on holidays or Sunday mornings, or stream from home, you will experience a good sermon and a welcoming atmosphere with 0 pressure for anything else.

The pastors are gossips. Don’t go for counseling here. Whatever you confess is not kept between you and the pastor, instead, at the weekly pastor meeting the staff is required to divulge details of their counseling sessions and it is then discussed. It is deeply disturbing. After it happened to me, I left. I went to my assigned pastor for help, not to be discussed and derided by a bunch of immature bible school boys who told their friends, who told their friends, and so on.
The leadership is fixated on boasting that Crossroads is the largest church in Clark County. It isn’t. Not by a long shot. There is NO membership here, so people come and go, the act of filling out a visitor’s card which is added to the mailing list. On Sunday mornings, two of the pastors do a head count (more accurately called counting «butts-​in-​pew») and Bill Ritchie then multiplies it. He can’t accept that his sanctuary is not packed so he exaggerates the numbers. Yup, that was Bill Ritchie’s ego. He has recently stepped down, but the culture of big, better, best still remains.
Sound and lighting excel anything you’ll experience in a professional theater. Now, I ask, how does THAT glorify Christ? Does it bother anyone other than me that too many churches – like Crossroads – are hollywood-​ized. The spotlighted staff and musicians revel that they are projected onto the large screens. Crossroad has fallen prey to the cult of personality and imagined celebrity.
When Bill Ritchie pastored the church (he «owned it»), he picked and chose the people to whom he’d pay attention, using them to promote whatever cause-​celebre he wanted to promote. Then he’d tire of them and cease talking to them. Ritchie was not a nice man. He spoke from the pulpit on several occasions saying that church members were to donate their free time to his church, not to community groups. He was adamant we cut off ties with our non-​Crossroads friends, except in the case of witnessing to them and luring them into his pews.
If all you want is a busy, busy, busy co-​dependent social life where working as a secular volunteer AND being intelligent /​well-​read is considered ungodly, then THIS is the church for you.

Really good service every single Sunday! I’m loving this church. When I’m here my heart open up and I want to be thankful to God for this church. Really friendly and caring people.

Great service, great pastors, great message.
The worship is fantastic and a great production event… you can tell love and time is put into it every week.
Pastor Daniel gives a great message and speaks in «normal» talk. even I understand what the message is.
We love the people, feel very welcome from the first time we stepped in and there is something for every age group in our family.

Great community — awesome people, wonderful campus.

Great Bible believing church. Gifted pastors who preach directly from Scripture, verse by verse. Great music and worship time. We have been attending this church for almost 30 years, but have visited a lot of churches when traveling. Always glad we have our local church to come home too!
