Not as good at before… where are the free salsas and the grilled onions? Those condiments made up the bulk of my carne asada tacos aka my livelihood there. My dad used to come here all the time, way back when he first came to the US with my moms. Made occasional family dinner trips here growing up, seen a lot of workers come and go, they changed the store to be expanded and painted over the old mural that used to be there yearsss ago(MYFAVORITEPART of the entire place, IMO). Not really much to go back to. Another taqueria find is in session. Sadface. Why must change be so hard); QQs.

Dear Gentle Readers, Here is an update — sorry if I had lead you to this place because of my previous review. Last two visits were weak. When one likes a place and has one bad experience, most will give it another try. They used to have excellent carnitas. My wife asked me if I ordered her chicken because her carnitas were so bland(I saw her take the meat for both from the carnitas vat). At the salsa bar, they used to have a great salsa with chunks of avocado in it. At this time of writing avocados are cheap. They completely skimp on the ingredients in their salsas. I don’t want to out rite accuse the cashier of stealing, but after the customer before me, she kept the cash drawer open and just made change for me. As I waited for my burritos, she had to wait until no one was waiting to order and personally went back and made ours. The food was mediocre. As my wife said, if this was my first food from Taqueria Lagos then I would never go back. I say this is our second not very good burrito so we are done and searching for a new taqueria. Always on the lookout for you, Dick Richards

i have been eating here since high school so like…1997. living right up the street from it, like 1 block away, i would go there EVERY day and have the same meal. a #9(they dont sue numbers) but on their cash register its been the same since i have been there. its a tacos dorados and soda/drink. 3 hard shell tacos /rice /beans and a GANG of chips. the food has tasted pretty much the same since i have been eating there. i have taken everyone i know there i think. i was just there about 4 days ago. if your in the valley and you want some grimey good mexican food, this is 1 of the places to stop by and order from.

A pretty decent Mexican food place, Tacos Lagos suffers from a distinct lack of style. Its interior reminded me of just about every small fast food place I’d ever been to, with extra blandness and unoriginality thrown in. As other reviewers have mentioned, it did seem a bit dirty, although I think if they had white tiles like McDonald’s or something the place would look a lot nicer than the dark dingy orange tiles they have now. I almost gave it 4 stars because our waitress was so confused/afraid of my friend asking what her favorite item on the menu was that she actually went and got one of her male coworkers from the back to take his order, which kept me laughing at him the rest of the meal. They had 6 different types of salsa, most of which were a bit too powerful for a white boy like me, but all tasted delicious. The pictures on the menu are helpful if you don’t know Spanish, and overall I’d go again, but it’s not like it’s my new favorite restaurant or anything.

Taqueria Lagos was once Taco Lagos, but apparently they’re doing much better since they expanded. It isn’t much different from before, still a bit dirty, but the food is average. I especially love their chips, because I believe they fried it in pork and their salsa is amazing. They add hints of jalapenos in the salsa, so there is a bit of a kick.
