My most recent experience is too long to go in to detail. But in a nutshell this place is shit for customer service thank you Ashley for your lack of «service» you need more training. Mario it’s a shame you are the«manager» I am just at a lost for words to describe the fact you allow your employees to treat customers the way they do. Gumbo soup is great and the pancakes are awesome! That’s the only thing this place has going for themselves.

Ghetto. Cold. Full of skeeves. Cheap. Huge portions. All reasons I say I will never go back and always do. The demographic is as illustrious as a major holiday sale at a vey low fico level Walmart if you will and makes for great entertainment. This time was extra shitty because we waited for 30min since I requested a high chair lol fuck it though when they’re dishing out ny steak eggs hash browns and their godlike pancakes for $ 8.99. I’m going to add another start because my car didn’t get jacked in the parking lot. off to you norms

Came here after a bar at around 3:30 am Onion rings looked like they were dipped in a cup of water right after they were fried, I havent been to a diner for at least 5 – 6 years and this is the exact reason why food 0 quality ranch had chunks in their like if i had requested my ranch to have blue cheese in it. I wish I had drive through Mc donalds

So disappointed that we chose to eat at Norms. I think it’s overrated. We were so hungry, and the wait was so long that ppl were leaving. Finally got seated & when I decided what I wanted our server told us that they had no sirloin Then I decided to order a French dip, bad mistake! The bread was hard, and they put mayonnaise on it, ewww! The french fries were the only thing that was good. Our silverware was dirty & my strawberry lemonade was not that cold. The only consolation was that our server was nice. The place is very loud and u are a little too close to other customers. Definitely will not be coming back.

The food is typical diner food. The quality is okay but the servings are huge. Overall pretty good value for your money. The service is good, but the place is a little on the dingy side. It’s usually very crowded. A great place to grab a quick, cheap bite, but not really quality dinning.

Very disappointed! I have been here a few times with an ok experience but tonight they bypassed our group of 5 with smaller groups. I understand that is the case but when they sat a group of 5 that came in 15 min after us… ridiculous! I asked them what was going on and they just took my name and how many in my party. I gave them at least another 5+ minutes and then just left. Obviously they don’t really care. Our family will not return.

I found Norm’s back in 2004 while working in the Valero oil refinery in Long Beach. My cousin and I were living in the Torrance Inn on Pacific Coast Hwy by Crenshaw for the time of the job and directly across the street was this diner names Norm’s. With my diner experience being limited to Shari’s and Denny’s, my expectations of Norm’s were very low. We were working 12 hour shifts from 5pm until 5am Monday through Saturday so on the first Sunday morning after we got off of work, we decided to get some breakfast before going home to sleep. That is when I fell in love with Norm’s! Fast forward to the year 2012. I took my family to Disneyland on vacation and my brother came with us. We decided one morning while on our trip to get breakfast outside of the park and I insisted that we go to Norm’s and finally, just a couple of weeks ago, I had a delivery from Auburn, WA all the way to Northridge, CA so my daughter and I took the road trip down to sunny socal. After being up for 28 hours straight, all I wanted was some of Norm’s pancakes. We typed in Norm’s in my GPS and the closest one was the Van Nuys location. I had previously tried to go to this exact location when I was in town back in March of 2013 for dinner but the place was so packed that I couldn’t get a table without a very long wait. The same scenario happened with my daughter and I. It was Sunday morning and likely just after most churches get out so this place was overrun with hungry people. I had thought about bagging it and looking for someplace else but my daughter needed the restroom so we went in. I sat in the waiting area while she used the facility and low and behold, just before she came out, 2 seats right next to each other cleared at the counter bar area. I snuck over inconspicuously and grabbed a seat and my daughter followed shortly after. SCORE!!! We ate breakfast and basked in the glorious flavors that Norm’s has to offer. Freshly squeezed orange juice that could be just a little colder but still amazing just the same. Eggs and hash browns and bacon cooked to order and executed very well but let me tell you, when it comes to the pancakes, there is no place on earth that can make pancakes this good. They have some secret family recipe from who knows when and just to tell you how good they really are. I don’t like pancakes! I really don’t care for them at all and if I do eat them then it’s usually because I’m in the mood to for some weird reason. This is not the case when it comes to Norm’s pancakes. I could eat them everyday. I could order a stack of 10 and probably finish them all. I don’t know what they do but I hope they never ever stop. They are light and fluffy and moist and absolutely amazing. The only two complaints that I have about Norm’s is that one, I wish that they had franchises in more cities and states but alas, they are local to the LA area and second, They really need larger restaurants to be able to accommodate such high traffic flow and lower wait times. These guys could open up a 3 story diner and it would be full nearly 24 hours a day. That in itself is a testament to how good the food is and the service is top notch too. You can tell that the wait staff has got it down and they all look so over worked but they treat you very well and keep smiles on their faces. If you get to LA and have the opportunity, go to Norm’s and have the best pancakes on Earth. Then contact me and I’ll have you bring me a stack on your way back. Thanks for reading.

I don’t know how I didn’t review this earlier! Lets make this one easy… 1. OPEN24HRS! 2. Deals galore, ample menu, huge parking lot. 3. Everything that I had(see pic) was good and have no complaints. 4. Big servings cause I was full and on the cheap… nobody likes small meals! 5. Ill be back… try it out.

I’ve been eating here for years and the reasons i rate this restaurant 4 stars is: ITISCONSISTENT! Nothing ever change, no surprises. Food is always the same, doesn’t matter which shift is the cook from or how long he’s working there. They never run out of dishes, managers come and managers go. same amount of specials, steady. Same great parking, always plenty of space. Same hours– open 24/7, always was. Same quality food, no matter if you personally like it or not. Same average service, on some rare occasion you will get exceptional waitress, mostly all the same. Same low low low prices. Lets face it, where else you can get dinner or breakfast at 2 – 3AM in this town for $ 10 – 15?

I have been wanting to come here for years. The TV commercials always looked good. This has to be hands down absolutely the worst breakfast I ever had. The pancakes were not cooked on the underside and the sausage was burnt to a crisp. How in the world can a cook serve food like that. I’m just a little more than pissed off about this. Corporate really needs go to this location and clean house and reorganize. No way will we ever eat at a Norms again. BARF!

The Restaurant is really nice up to my opinion. First of all, I love the style! Sounds like you are in 80-s. All the furniture is in good conditions, there is very clean inside. People, who work in Norms, are very friendly and always(without too much pressure) take care of you. The menu is pretty big, you always have a choice. The prices are good, it is possible to have tasty breakfast to feel totally full just for 12 $. To my knowledge, there are no problems with parking. For sure, I recommend this Restaurant for visiting!

Love the food here at Norms. The steaks are usually cooked well and tasty. You can’t beat their prices. Where else can you get a three course meal for under $ 10? The downside? Seems like not matter what time of day you show up here there’s always a wait. Restaurant isn’t all that clean either. They could use some renovations. Parking is never a problem as they have a huge lot.

Super busy on a Friday night. I am sooooo surprised. Especially since there are so many industrial businesses nearby that are closed for the day! Ordered the Gumbo and it wasn’t bad. Warmed my cold empty tummy. Coworker ordered sunny side up eggs with his breakfast order but ended up with runny whites on top. Had to send it back and they returned with completely cooked yolks. Sad. On th eplus side, the parking lot is HUGE!

First time at norms. I don’t really eat at American fast food chains, but mine and my friend’s starving selves decided that this would be a good idea. I’m just going to make this short and sweet by listing the pros and cons. Pros — great service. Really friendly(almost creepy at how much they smiled) — food portion size was huge for the price. — big seating area Cons — found a small hair on my french fry — overflowed dressing on the salad to the point where it was dripping off the plate. — utensils were placed on the table instead of napkin(as a nurse/germaphobe) this really make me uncomfortable. Food was excellent. I ordered the honey mustard chicken strip which came with French fries. I added $ 1 to make them parmesean fries. Came with salad and gumbo soup. Everything was fantastic except the parmesean fries.

Norms is my go-to place after a night of drinking. Pancakes! I didnt used to be a big fan of pancakes and such, but the banana caramel drizzled pancakes are to die for. Give me a stack of 3 pancakes and im gooood! Norms fell one star for me only because the wait is ridiculous at times.

I was just here about 3 weeks ago. This time they gave me 5 menu’s to look at for Dinner. I said to myself, I will just order the special. Steak and Shrimp for $ 11.99 and it included, soup and salad. I was to hungry. Norms Really 5 menus’s. One of them where Specials that are from Monday thru Thursday. This was to funny. Norms has a good breakfast. I prefer Norms instead of Denny’s. The service again is getting better. I was told by the server that Norms Policy is to bring the bill the same time you receive your meal. I found that strange. Maybe I would want a slice of pie and maybe a cup of coffee, after my meal. Maybe there’s No suggestive selling needed with them. They are open for Christmas and New Years. They never close. Open 24⁄7
