Fresh made food takes time but well worth the wait. This is a family run small restaurant so if you’re expecting a mass produced quick lunch don’t come here. But if you’re expecting a delicious homemade meal this would be your spot. Yes it’s true the waitresses don’t speak perfect English but communication is not a problem.

Typical salvadorean food. Very tasty. Yes, orders take a lil long, but it’s worth the wait. Can’t beat my mom’s Pupusas though, but they are good. Planning to bring my wife next time so she can give me the Salvadorean AOK! :)

They take way to long to take your order the employees are super rude. We are a paying customer you would think they would want to be nice. They are to expensive as well. I went with my husband for breakfast their were probably like 3 other ppl inside we ordered why did it take the waitress 20min to come to our table n 30 for food. I only stayed because i was pregnant at the time and i was craving a salvadorian breakfast. So not worth it. I would recommend La Piedad restaurant which is across the st.

I love the fact that you have a choice of slaw(spicy or not spicy) — the pupusas are really good and the Yuca plates. I also tried the tamales and good too. The parking lot is always busy due to the other businesses, but one of the best pupusas I’ve had in quite a while. I and my family are extremely picky and even my daughter(only likes mine) loves these pupusas. I will definitely return. The service is a bit slow but friendly. Salvi food is made from scratch so if you are in a hurry, go to a fast food place. I suggest calling in as an alternative to a time crunch.

This is my favorite place ever!!! The staff is super friendly & polite. The food is delicious. One of my favorites is the chicken soup with a side of grilled chicken with rice. The pupusas are delicious. Their bistec picado is out of this world. Also, the atol the alote & their different drinks are really really good. My husband loves the ensalada & I love the tamarindo drink. I can go on & on. And don’t get me started on their breakfast. Oh my!!! Best of the best. Wow, I’m getting hungry just to think about it. My husband & I found this place while looking for houses a year ago. Since that day, we’ve been coming back. Yes, sometimes when they’re busy the service is slow. But if you want to save yourself some time, you can order over the phone for pick up or even to eat there. Everything is freshly made there. No way to deny it because you can taste it. I will definitely be coming back here. I love this place!!!

Updating my review from 6 months ago and I still have all the same compliments to give. Great authentic Salvadorena food, pleasant waitresses and a nice space to eat. I came in to pick up some breakfast for my mom and myself this morning. I called in, placed the order and they said it’d be ready in 20 mins. I left my house 20 mins later(since I’m so close) and no problems when I arrived. Parking was plenty, was attended to right away and I walked out with my order in like 5 mins. I arrived as they were putting the order in to-go boxes. Eating the food I ordered, I’m reminded why we come here and why we will continue to keep eating at El Morazan restaurants. Great work!

I been coming here since I was a young girl. The restaurant is family owned so everyone that works there are related. They been around for years. The food taste the same no matter the time, day or year you go. It is good food. I always ordered the pupusas. The revueltas ones to be specific. They are a decent size and when they are .99 cents they are a bit smaller. The only thing they need to fix is to add more cheese cause they seemed to come out a bit dry sometimes. The sopa de pata is really good too. I am never going back tho since I had a bad experience with the ladies there. One day my mother was sick and ask me to go pick up a chicken soup for her here. I told her to order it by phone and ill go pick it up. So she did that. When I got there this dark skinny lady which was the only waitress there, while they had three older ladies in the back cooking was the only one helping out. She ask me for my name gave it to her and told me that it was going to take more time for the order to come out. While waiting I noticed that she was putting the soup cup in a bag with another side plate to go. When she came out she told me my order was ready so I told her that we only order a soup and that the side plate did not belong to me. Then she argued to me that my mom in the phone clearly order a soup and a chicken combination plate. I called my mom to confirm and she said the lady on the phone was not understanding what she was ordering and she clearly only order the soup. So the waitress thought she was slick and when she ranged me up in the cashier she was charging $ 12, like really $ 12 for a soup so i told her why so much and she said«cause you had us cooked the chicken plate i have to charge you» so i told her i didnt want it. So this WITCH went back to tell the other three ladies in the back that i had ordered it and now didnt want it. So those WITCHES told her that she«couldnt» sell me only the soup that i if i wanted it i had to buy the chicken plate combination too. BADSERVICEEVER! i am never going back to this MORAZAN!!!

They take entirely too long with their orders and unless you speak Spanish you won’t get far here. I walked in today and waited 35 minutes for Salvadorean chorizo and eggs! I purposely didn’t order pupusas because they take longer to cook and I was on my lunch hour. The waitress was not apologetic or even understanding of why I left without my food. Won’t go here again, apparently they are so successful they don’t need clientele.

This place is overpriced and the staff is very rude. I called in a order and the women kept trying to hang up on me before I completed my order. I had to stop her three times from interrupting me. And it is far from the best Salvadoran food in town. The pupusas were hard on the edges like they were prefrozen and then cooked.

Went for lunch, service was reasonable, by no means as slow as other reviewers have seen… but not that cheery or welcoming either. If you are coming to Morazan, you’re not coming for the service or décor. You’re coming for the pupusas. I was referred to Morazan by an El Salvadoran nurse who works nearby. She told me that Morazan has her favorite pupusas in Los Angeles. She emphasized that I should try the Loroco pupusa which is made from flour derived from a plant indigenous to El Salvador. FGI. I tried one Loroco pupusa filled with cheese and one Rebueleta/Revueleta pupusu filled with cheese, beans, and chicharron. Don’t expect to have fried pork rind in the Rebueleta, chicharron in this case refers to ground pork meat… not skin. The two pupusas more than delivered against my modest expectations, but mostly because I felt«in the know» about ordering the Loroco which uses special flour imported from El Salvador. There are several Morazan restaurants in the valley and my server said they are all owned by the same family. One of them has a four star review on Unilocal

my mexican friend, esther, turned me onto this salvadorean restaurant. it’s nothing special. the women running the show when we went weren’t too nice but whatevs. the one thing i did like, was the ‘serve yourself’ curtido. you know i took complete advantage of that.

I am Salvadorian, so if anyone knows about pupusas, it’s me. To Start, the restaurant does have an «A» rating, which is always important :). The Pupusas are the shizznitz when it comes to pupusas in the Van Nuys area, believe me I have been to a few pupuserias in the valley and this one is one of the best. They will make them with the regular masa(which is the regular corn dough) or de harina de arroz,(which is rice flour) both ways are yummy, the traditional Salvadorian pupusa are the ones they make with the corn dough, but if you prefer less greasy then go for the rice flour. Now for the curtido, the curtido is very good,(it’s a coleslaw salad that is served and eaten with the pupusa, kind of like sour kraut but way better and spicier). I think that if you are gonna eat a good pupusa, the curtido should be equally as good, and they do make it good here, they put it in a big plastic container and you could eat as much as you please, which is another thing I love. The drinks are very good and pretty much everything they cook here is the bomb. The yucca frita con chicharron could use a little help, and this is why I didn’t give them the five stars. Sometimes they will get it right on the money with the Yucca frita but sometimes not, the chicharron is usually way overcooked and hard to bite into and the yucca can at times be not as crispy as I would like. Yucca is the cassava root, chicharron is the deep fired pork. It is true that if you go eat at the place, you do have to wait a while, but they are making the pupusas from scratch and cooking a pupusa does take a while unless you want your pupusa to be raw. Another thing you could do is place your order in advance and you could pick it up, they will have it ready for you to take home and enjoy at home if you do not want to eat it at their place. The only draw back to this is that they give you one sandwich bag of curtido and sometimes that is not enough for everybody but you could buy extra for $ 3.00 more. All in all, this is a pretty solid Salvi restaurant, I would recommend most of their stuff.

A small Salvadorean spot located on the corner of van owen and haskell in a crowded shopping plaza. I would have gave this place a 1, BUT the drinks are delish! i only ordered the papusas combo, so i cant speak on ALL the food there. this place was ok, although i can get better pupusas @ Vallarta supermarket. But i do really love the drinks they serve here. «ensalada» it like water but with chopped up fruit… pineapple and apples.(very sweet and fresh) «chan» or something like that. Its some kind of fruit pulp mixed with jamaica(good combo of sweet and sour and the texture of the fruit is strange but in a good way) now the service is slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo so dont try to come here if your crunched for time… theres probably a lot better places than this but this is the only ive tried so far. I will return for the drinks… to go!
