Anita was the fifth lawyer that my husband and I consulted and we ultimately chose her to represent my husband’s case. It’s very difficult choosing the right attorney, as there are so many, but these are the reasons why we chose Anita:
— During the consultation call, she presented a realistic assessment and urged quick action — advice she said she would give her own family member. This made me feel like she actually cared about our situation.
— In her consultation, she never offered an assessment that «gave in», so to speak, like other attorneys we spoke to. Others had suggested conceding to classes/​community service as one tactic, but my husband did not feel he deserved to do that.
— Her practice was in the same area as the court in which the case was to be looked at. We initially consulted with attorneys in LA (where we live) but some charged extra to travel to San Fernando area. Also, we reasoned that a more «local» attorney may be more familiar with the judges and attorneys operating in that area’s courthouse. This could be right or wrong but luckily, we feel this rationale served us well in our case.
— Her reviews on Unilocal and AVVO (attorney specific site) seemed genuine and positive.
— Her price was comparable to other attorneys.
At the time, our perception of attorneys from TV clouded our expectation of our attorney’s personality (masculine, loud, cocky). Anita’s personality is not that, but no doubt she is thorough, attentive, intelligent, determined and professional in such a way that she genuinely acts in her client’s best interest. This is important when you spend ANY amount of money on someone to represent your life and future. (I observed a few attorneys represent clients in the courtroom for seemingly more minor cases who didn’t seem to care what was going on.) Ultimately, Anita helped us achieve the best possible outcome we hoped for. We are forever grateful to her and we highly recommend her to everyone.
