My wife and I went to the Broadway Café when the restaurant was located on Broadway in Merrillville. I saw this location on the way past Valpo U on US30. When I called, I got to speak to the owner and found out he had owned the other location when it was open Huge soft rolls, the BEST lemon chicken soup– ever Kids had pancakes which were light and slightly sweet– very good Everyone’s food was very good to great– their words– lamb, Greek salad with gyro, broasted chicken. Huge portions very good service. What else can you ask for?

Stopped by here for a late Sunday breakfast and a visit with a special friend. Be careful driving in the parking lot, as it is riddled with potholes. Otherwise, parking is convenient and building access easy for the mobility-impaired. We were seated immediately and our server was prompt, more than pleasant, and very good at her job. Since we were doing a late breakfast, I must say I didn’t really look at the entire menu. There is a generous selection for breakfast diners to make a choice. I ordered the broccoli omelet with hash browns and a side of toast. Portions were a nice size, but my only objection was the cook’s use of what appeared to be previously frozen chopped broccoli in the omelet. There was a very muted taste of broccoli, and I was grateful for the hollandaise sauce served also. I even requested extra sauce, which was brought with a smile, but there just wasn’t any salvation short of copious seasonings. When I’m in the area, this just might be a stop to consider.

When I visit the Chicago area I want to eat here. I miss the Greek owned family restaurants with the massive plates of food, lemon rice soup, and nice service. It’s not 5 star, but your not paying 5 star. Well worth the money for those who work hard for their money

I’ve eaten here several times, mainly during breakfast hours, and I’ve experienced nothing less than satisfaction. Really good food, reasonable prices & excellent service makes for a great time!

I’ve never been here for lunch or dinner so I can’t comment on either of those meals. I have been here half a dozen times for breakfast, however,(most recently yesterday) and their breakfast meals are delicious. I’ve tried the biscuits and gravy, the omelettes, and the skillets and it is always great tasting, large portions, and very reasonably priced. Located right next to VU, if you’re ever in Valpo and need breakfast, this is the place to eat!

Broadway café is wonderful place. The environment is friendly and so are the waiters. I always eat here when I come out to valpo. 5⁄5! The food has never disappointed me or my family.

We go to the Broadway café occasionally when we work up in valpo. Their breakfast menu is really good. They have good pancakes. The lunch and dinner menu is good too. They are a greek diner so you can get a gyro there. The food is good. Service is usually good. Prices are reasonable.

I have been to this restaurant several times and never have I had an experience as bad as the one i had today. Not only was the service awful but the food was just as bad. For starters the computer system was down. Ok. No big deal. So we have to wait a little longer for everything to be processed and rang up. That wasn’t even the problem today. When we were sat in a booth no one came to our table to get our drink orders for about 15 minutes until the woman that sat us walked by and saw that we still didn’t have water on the table and brought us some. A while later our waitress finally shows up and by this point we were ready to order since it had been so long. Luckily we got our soup and salad relatively quickly. When the food came my over easy eggs were way over cooked. Our toasts and biscuits didn’t come until i was almost done with my eggs and at that point it didn’t even matter because there was hardly any yolk to dip it in. My boyfriend didn’t even eat his toast cause there was a large whole in the middle of it. Our drink refills didn’t come until we were ready for the check. As we were eating our meal I watched an old couple sitting across from us wait for anyone to come acknowledge them a very long time. They looked equally as frustrated. I understand the waitress was having an awful day but that wasn’t even what upset me so much. I left a tip and went up to the front to pay and I calmly voiced how awful the entire experience was to the lady at the cash register and she literally just stared at me and then looked at my bill and then continued to ring me up. No apologizes or anything. Worst overall experience ever.

Boyfriend brought me a skillet this morning, he randomly decided to try this place & I’m glad he did, my skillet was pretty delicious and I am happy to know they serve breakfast all day. It was carry out but from what I’ve read, the dine-in service is sucky

Love the fact that their hours say till midnight but when I go in at 9:45 the man at the counter very rudely tells myself and the group with me that they are serving a large group so they ate closing at 10.

It’s nice how they have everything included in their meals(as in sides and dessert), but I still think you should be able to order al a cart. I couldnt just get my son an egg(until the waitress messed with the bill to make it happen). The soup and rolls were really good, but the good food ended there. My brother really likes this place, so it’s possible we would be back(in which case I would get soup), but not if I get to pick.

Ok, I’ve been coming here for years & was pretty surprised when I pulled into the parking lot & it was not packed! It was 5 pm on a Tuesday, but I’ve never seen this place so empty. Started with the Lemon Rice Soup & huge warm, fresh dinner rolls, both delish. When my «jumbo» fried shrimp came out, it was pretty disappointing. They were regular size shrimp & they were over fried to a hard crunch almost a dark brown. When I open the small plastic container that the cocktail sauce came in, it was dark, old & clumpy. When the waitress replaced it, she apologized & said«we don’t use that often» which to me meant the shrimp must be old too… I would go back, but just for the soup and rolls!

Watery soup. Greasy food. Dirty bathrooms. The place is ran down and looks old. Used to be a good place in the 1990’s. I would assume it’s supposed to be a Greek joint but the guys I see working don’t speak English and are not greek dudes either. I imagine immigration needs to stop in!

I used to love coming here for the soup and breakfast and it just seriously need a facelift, it’s so dreary in there and I hate using the bathrooms there. The food is okay, not blow your mind great but okay. Food quality has gone down.

Typical family joint. Nothing great or fancy about the place. The serving portion is good for the price. Their service could be a lot better and the place definitely needs a face lift. Their skillets are something to try and they serve breakfast all day.

I love this place. I came in from out of town for work and ate here after a friends recommendation. Holy cow I was not expecting this place to be that delicious. Most diners usually have terrible food but lure people in with their vintage broken juke boxes at each table. No juke boxes here! The portions are large and the food is fresh and delicious. It’s also incredibly cheap. Two of us had a three course dinner for 25 smackarooskis. I do not know what planet these other reviewers eat food on but come back to earth because this place is delicious.

We have eaten in here & done take out. The food is good & I can’t say we have ever had anything we didn’t like the 20+ times we’ve been here. The service we got when dining in was pretty good depending upon the waitress we received. The restaurant itself has always seemed clean & dimly lit with cloth seets/booths. Take out can be a toss up… they tend to screw up the order. Other than that the food is delicious and filling.

Typical Greek restaurant with literally 100’s of items on the menu. There is so many tables crammed into this place that you can barely move from one end to the other, a visit from the fire marshall would go a long way here. The waitress was more interested in telling us her life story than taking our order which only slowed things down for the two small children we had with us. The food was bland and really greasy. For the same price you can go to any number of chain restaurants and get faster, friendlier, and more quality service.

I love Broadway! Great food, extensive menu, friendly wait staff and reasonable price. The only reason why they didn’t receive a 5 is because the ambience is not the greatest. Eat here for the food and wait staff not the atmosphere.
