Ok, so i move in and see this place on the corner near my apartment. I cruise through the drive-thru, order a chilli cheese burger and some chilli cheese fries. My drink was flatter than Wyoming, so i get over it and bring my meal home. I unveil this monstrosity they called food and its one of those times where a restaurant gets the order right, but its all wrong. Let me explain, the meat sauce was waaaaay too much, which would of been ok but it was horrible! I cannot emphasize how much it resembled and smelled like dog crap, i had to literally had to go to the dumpster to throw it out because there was no way that could sit in the trash or my body. How the hell is this place still open???

What can I say, we love Tommy’s! Do you want chili on that?? Hell yes I do! There’s something nostalgic about ordering a chili cheese burger with a side of peppers, fries and a coke from this place. Plus this one has a drive thru. Bonus. Grab extra napkins… You’re gonna need them!

I used to love Tommy’s, so I was excited to have their chili fries and a burger. Unfortunately, while everyone was really nice, the quality was poor. The buns were dry and the meat ended up going to my dog.(even she thought twice about eating it) They still have great pickles, but everything else … I’ll give it a miss!

Don’t think I can eat Tommys anymore, not the same as when I was a kid. Woke up at 3am in extreme agony in my stomach, ran to the toilet and made a #2 similar to a hippopotamus then felt much better.

Rude service. Kids with attitudes treating customers like loiterers. I love the food, it’s close to my house, but I refuse to pay my hard earned money to get treated bad. I can get that kind of treatment for free.

core competency = chili cheeseurgers and fries. no way you could go wrong with a classic joint. I seriously think it’s got the best mass produced chili when you get that random craving for a quick heart attack. the fact that their combos are all pretty much sub $ 8 and come with a humungous drink keep me coming back when I need to fill my unhealthy craving. with a drive thru and quick service, I can’t see myself ever going anywhere else.

Tommy’s is the best of the best when it comes to chili burgers. There’s a reason their amazing chili is one of the most beloved and well-known food staples of Los Angeles; the flavor. Their signature chili recipe makes for some of the sloppiest and most delicious meals you’ll ever have, a fact not lost on the many imitators across the city. It’s the star of their operation, rich in flavor and served in generous amounts(upon requesting«extra chili») over their thin beef patties, cheese, diced onions, pickles, tomato(thick cut) and mustard. I always go with the double cheeseburger, minus the onions and pickles. I ask for extra chili and extra mustard, both which are free, and top it off with extra cheese(35 cents more). The ingredients create what looks like a chili burger crime scene with globs of chili, melted cheese and mustard splashed all across the burger. The combination of flavors is unique and unforgettable. They offer four combos(#1 is my favorite), which all include a medium drink: #1 costs $ 7.95 and has a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink(refills are free). #2 costs $ 6.95 and has a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. #3 costs $ 6.45 and has a hamburger, fries and a drink. #4 costs $ 7.60 and has a chili cheese dog, fries and a drink. A few tips: Always ask for extra chili. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s free and delicious. It can be messy, so I recommend getting a side of fries(their’s are thick cut) to enjoy the excess chili, or a free plastic spoon to scoop it up. They offer mayonnaise for the burgers upon request, and allow you to add or remove any of the standard ingredients. Get the chili cheese fries, just do it. Chili dog lovers are welcome too, with a large beef hot dog available with chili, cheese or both, plus tomato, onions and pickles. Check out the breakfast menu, where their version of a sausage and muffin sandwich is paired with a fresh fried egg, cheese and glorious chili.(Photo below) If you like yellow peppers, they offer them as a free side, just ask. They sell chili-to-go in three sizes(8 oz for $ 3.75, 12 oz for $ 4.45 and 32 oz for $ 9.95). I highly recommend you buy some if you’re gonna BBQ or just make burgers and hot dogs at home. The chili perfectly accentuates any food it’s added to. Trust me, I even add it to other fast food burgers(photo below) They take cash, credit and debit cards. We ordered the chili cheese french fries, the triple chili cheeseburger, a single hamburger, and some regular french fries with barks root beer! I love the toppings on the hamburger, big tomatoes big fresh pickles, and for those that love chili lots of goopy chilly for the hamburgers! One suggestion, I would order two or more patties for your hamburger as the condiments, the big tomato and the pickles, overpower the taste of the burger. And, unfortunately the chili wasn’t that great. Plus you have to eat it really fast, because as it cools it becomes one giant glutinous mass. But all in all it was good! This specific location in Laurel Canyon, is a little bit sketchy however.

Pretty good burgers, has a drive through too. Their yellow peppers?(if you like spicy food) are pretty spicy so yeah :).

Let’s get something straight right now. LA, even though it is the USA’s second biggest city and even though it does have many super upscale fancy schmancy dining establishments is and always will be known for its junk food… especially its fast food establishments. I’m talking Pink’s Hotdogs, In N’ Out Burger, McDonald’s was invented nearby, and of course Tommy Burger. So what to say about the famous Tommy Burger? Well first of all not a bad burger but the chili that goes on the burger to make Tommy’s famous chili burger is the real draw. The chili is not really a spicy chili but it does have a good flavor with a smooth complexion throughout. You can also buy their chili to take home with you. They have good fries and milkshakes too. There are Tommy’s locations all throughout Los Angeles but the original is at Beverly and Rampart just west of downtown Los Angeles. This particular location I’m reviewing is the only location I’ve been to and it was very clean and food came out fast. A good experience.

This place is delicious. Only giving 4 stars though because the cheese is never heated up right. Everything else is great. I go here almost everyday.

This is a classic chill burger that can’t be denied! Tommy’s has been Southern California staple since 1946 with its origins starting at the corner of Beverly & Rampart Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Tommy’s is excellent. A straight up CA style chilli burger — not the same elsewhere. I do prefer Carney’s, though. They probably copied Tommy’s, honestly, but it’s still better.

Gosh the original Tony’s world famous hamburgers I love this place it is hardly ever busy the burgers are phenomenal but I will tell you be very aware and be ready because when you’re there truly it will give you a little bit of heartburn but it is so darn good that you just want to continue eating it. No I like to eat a little bit of mustard and french fries and ketchup and yeah

I always go to tommy’s when I’m back in los Angeles but I crave it purely for the nostalgia value. The food itself is really not that great. It’s not horrible but if it weren’t for the memories of going here as a kid I would never dine here.

I never got to try the food I got at the drive thru because it was swimming in chili when I got it back home and opened it. It looked like it had already been run through my body’s digestive system and I had no desire to even try eating it.

My 600th Review?! My 600th Review?! Well, it had to be one of Los Angeles’ iconic fast food joints. Yeah, it could be In-N-Out or Pink’s Hot Dogs, but would you want a place to go to that is 24 hours and you just had a long night. Welcome to Los Angeles’ own Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers in Valley Village. Located on the northwest corner of Oxnard and Laurel Canyon, you’ll find the mass producing chili fast food joint, Tommy’s. There is one parking entrance/exit. However, there is plenty of parking and there is a drive thru. Unlike the other Tommy’s locations, this is pretty big with a bigger dining hall than Panorama, Van Nuys, and Canoga Park locations. For the first time, I actually saw families eating inside versus the other locations where most take the food and go because of the outside environment. Like every Tommy’s visit, I get my usual order. I got myself a Chili Dog($ 3.25) and French Fries($ 1.85). While I waited, I noticed that a lot of people dined in than take out. This was extremely unusual for a location that I usually thought of as place to just get food and leave. I guess this location is one of the premier locations. Also, I got a new employee who is working on my order. So, my first visit and a new employee means a good first time: P As always, my food was just as good as the other Tommy’s visits. Lots of chili, onions, and two slices of tomato. I know there was a hot dog, but I never know what it looks like. At every bite, it looks like a small sausage just covered in gooey goodness. I swear Tommy’s does something in the chili to make us, especially me, coming back for more. I think this location is going to be one of my new spots after Dodger games. You know, I noticed a lot of people order the chili boat. I may need a life preserver if I dare take the plunge. Too many puns! Do you think I write too much? Well, you can call me a Unilocal-O-Holic!

I think the amount of years I have been eating at Tommy’s speaks for itself. I have been going to Tommy’s ever since I can remember, and I am 55 now. I grew up right around the corner from the original location on Beverly and Rampart. I have my kids loving Tommy’s just as much as I do. I can not say I have ever had a chili on a burger, better than Tommy’s!
