I hate that I LOVE this place(because it’s so darn expensive). But, it always has parking and rarely a line. I love their poke bowl and the salad and hot food bars. I also get a lot of their prepared salads for the hubs. I try and wait for the $ 5 off coupon in the mail and then head on over.

On this one rare occasion I forgot the bags that I’d already purchased from Gelson’s to avoid using paper bags. I applaud Gelson’s adherence to the law which helps the environment by not using plastic bags. I do not think however that customers should suffer because of this. I spent close to $ 300 on groceries and all but 2 of the 7 bags supplied to me and packed by an employee broke or burst prior to me getting in my front door. Great store, great staff and great produce but a massive ZERO on the final yard of customer service.

This particular Gelson’s is one our favorite markets. First they always have a good parking spot and the shopping cart is not every where such as blocking a parking spaces. Inside the market there’s a eye catching fresh cakes and pastries. Then there’s a circle of selected up-scale cheese and always good parmesan, Swiss cheese and a lot more that I’m not familiar because it’s my husband who’s a cheese person. Against the wall theirs a good variety bacon, sausages and other meat and a little bit walk you can ask the butcher if your looking for specific meat also the seafood which I find overpriced after that the sushi place. Then my favorite part is the hot and cold food section which includes hot carving station that specialize in prime rib and turkey. The staff are very helpful and always offer samples if you’re not sure if you like the taste or not. The salad bar has many selections of your choice from dressing and everything you want to put in your salad. Their fruits are quite expensive which I can from the other place and the rest are typical items that you can find in any market with better price and quality too. Over all I’m satisfied to do grocery shopping.

LOVE this place… Gelson’s in general is my favorite market. It’s a good looking, clean, organized market. Highest quality overall, fresh produce, large organic selection, excellent customer service, very nice employees, great bakery, wonderful floral department, and the salad bar/“prepared food” section is always fresh, delicious, healthy, and SO much better than Whole Foods! If you’re short on time but want a healthy, delicious salad, visit Gelson’s salad bar. It’s the best of any market I’ve seen… full of fresh veggies and protein options for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores. Everyone is happy! :) And the prepared salads are delicious and come with nutrition info which I always appreciate. They make it easy to stay on a healthy track. Thank you Gelson’s! Always a pleasant, satisfying, happy, healthy shopping experience!

Uh yeah gotta agree with the other reviews– place is beyond expensive! I really only stopped by after work because I didn’t want to go out of my way to the grocery store I usually shop at. Bought a few items and the bill was almost $ 90. I wanted some fruit but most looked rotted, old and way over priced. If you can go to Trader Joes, where the produce is fresh and you get a MUCH better deal than Gelsons.

I love this store, it’s my go to grocery, I enjoy the clean environment and their food looks very appealing, I love the cut up mango especially! The 11.99 price tag is a bit excessive but I keep getting it because it’s my fav fruit and it’s always so fresh tasting. Some boxed items I will skip like cereal which is the same you can find in Target for half the price but I get my meats and organic fruits from here every week.

Staff are very friendly. Bakery items are yummy. They have a Wolfgang Puck section.(Their baked chicken is yummy!) Pricey but that’s expected. The area they should focus on is the flower department. I’ve seen brown colored flower being sold.

Overpriced, and three tiers below whole foods but with the same prices. Hot bar is stocked with food that looks like it’s from Albertsons. Hot bar has also has made me sick as a dog twice! Step your game up Gelsons! Learn a couple of things from the one in West Hollywood off of Santa Monica. It would help your cause.

The Wolfgang Puck to go items are rightly complimented. Gorgeous store; here’s a tip, check out the«day old» fruit and bread … Nicer quality than I’ve seen at other major markets.

Excellent store for buying gourmet products! Clean, organized, The staff, however, in this location, are the worst employees of any store I have ever been to. Rude, Disconnected, Barely Present… are many ways to describe the staff at this location. Perhaps management beats them because NOBODYSMILES, NOBODYHELPS with ANYTHING. The Deli staff are the worst! There is more personality in the cheese slices that I purchase than what it is displayed by any member of this team! Will I continue to shop there? Yes! But not because of the horrid employees!

Overpriced and underwhelming. This is where old people with means like to shop so they don’t have to mix it up with the common folks. Highlights are the salad bar, bakery, and floral section.

Always a pleasure to shop at Nelsons. Fish department has everything and these guys know their fish. The deli counter has healthy specially prepared salads and any number of things. Registered dietician Jessica makes some great salads and most recent is Jessica’s Brussel Sprouts Caesar salad, yummy yum. A full salad bar, I mean theres nothing you can want for. Granted you pay a bit more but its worth it. The carver in the corner has Turkey w/gravey and stuffing, prime rib, tri tip roast. Its all too good for words. go to one of these markets and without a doubt better tasting than those giant ralph stores.

I have been shopping here for years — even before it was Gelson’s. I bet 99% of the snooty employees here don’t even remember it was once a Hughes market. And unlike 99% of them they didn’t witness an entire family being taken out by a bad driver as they ate their lunch outside one day. It took me a long time to come back after that incident… And now their prices shot up to ridiculous extremes. I stopped buying groceries here months ago but they have some pet items I can’t find elsewhere. Their pet food/treats are outrageous. They charge twice the price for my cats’ food than everyone else and they shrugged when I asked them why. My dog’s treats shot up by $ 2 a bag in one week and last night I stopped by the manager’s desk to ask why they’d priced them so high. The store manager was rude. Just obnoxious. She interrupted me to take a phone call. How lovely. You give great service to somebody on the phone while the person who’s driven all the way to your store is standing there waiting. «What do you want from me?» she asked, when she ended the call. «I want you to pretend that you care,» I said, «but you don’t.» Good-bye Gelson’s. Your store isn’t special and your staff used to be great but you now have no reason to fear that I will ever drop another dime on your overpriced items ever again.

Love this place. Expensive? You bet! Yet, some things are a bargain! Case in point, I get lunch from the deli quite often, half a sammich with two sides. You can pick from a selection of breads, any meat, cheese and toppings, including avocado! The sandwich in my photo has a generous amount of turkey and half an avocado, as well as sprouts and lettuce. With the sides it’s $ 6.50! Where are you going to find that these days? Fresh and delish! Some of the associates make the sandwiches better than others but they are all pretty good. Most times I cannot even finish it all and I sure ain’t no beanpole! ;-) Best seafood department of any grocery chain, hands down! Easy parking, super clean and friendly service, what more could you want? Wanna save money? Go to Vons! Just my humble opinion mindya! Moi

Ok so this place is EXSPENSIVE, you have to donate an organ just to buy groceries from Gelsons as well as Viktor Benes bakery. That being said I ordered .5lb of WHITEMEATTUNAWITHHERBS from the deli counter, I brought it to work today and when I started eating it I was thinking to myself…“this tastes like chicken with tuna”…sure enough as I was eating I found a piece of «tuna» that is brown and stringy… AKACHICKEN! So Gelson’s is charging $ 11.99 per pound for tuna salad cut with chicken, I feel like this should be an investigative story with the news on how markets rip off their customers! I will be posting a pic… let’s join the crusade… boycott their tuna!

We got Buffalo wings here from the deli counter, 18 bucks for 2 lbs! Which I gladly paid cause I was too tired to make them from scratch. Unfortunately, they were a bit dry, greasy and overly salty. I wish I had picked the ones from the steam table instead, they looked fresher. I came here for the salad bar. Despite the wings, I love this store. Everything is clean and beautiful. I saw a friend here with his parents who were visiting him from Scotland. He said they were doing touristy things and they stopped at Gelson’s because it’s like a food museum. And it is! Ha ha. They were looking at the tropical fruit and said they don’t have grocery stores like this, they had never seen fruit like that before. That being said, this place is way more expensive than Ralphs or Vons. These guys weren’t shopping, they were looking at all of it, amazed. I still shop here anyway. I shop everywhere. Vallarta has the best bargains. But I like coming here for organic stuff, or that one special thing, like grass fed steak, good bread, or sushi. Beer and wine here is way expensive, but the selection is great. In the grocery department, you have to be careful not to shop the middle aisles. Their packaged and boxed food is way more expensive. I like that they have organic fruits and vegetables, cheeses from everywhere, bakery bread. Great quality, but pricey. This a nice place for lunch. Compared to restaurant prices, you save a bit eating lunch here. I like to get a big crunchy salad bar salad and a piece of chicken w/a beverage of my choice for about 7 to 15 bucks depending how much you fill the containers. They sell them by the weight. They have a nice eating area with a fireplace and surrounded by flowers. It’s very cozy and pretty. The lunch selection is amazing for prepared food; Wolfgang Puck pizza, deli salads, carved meats, chicken wings, mac and cheese, turkey & stuffing, broiled chicken, a steam table with cooked food, sandwiches, sushi, cookies, pastries, coffee, kombucha, juice, beer, soda, and so many kinds of water that it makes the selection officially ridiculous. That being said, it’s not cheap. And sometimes it’s a bit salty.

They’ve got a good mix of healthy and delicious foods here. Nice produce section, a Wolfgang Puck kitchen, Viktor Bene’s Bakery, a nice fish and meat department and my favorite, the to-go foods in the very back. How many times have I stopped here to get salads and yummy hot and cold foods to go for the Hollywood Bowl? This is the first store in which I found Veggie Wash to clean your waxy and pesticide covered produce. I used to stop here just for that product. They also have a nice clean restroom, gift items and cards. They have a lovely floral section that has seating where you can nosh on your purchased food/drink. I recommend the to-go salads, soups and cornbread! And the Viktor Bene coffee bar with a dessert of cookies or cake.

This store is a little more expensive than the average grocery. The staff is very nice and try to be helpful although they never seem to know where anything is. They used to have gluten free options in one section but now it’s an adventure to track them down throughout the store. They carry less gluten free options than some other stores in their price range. The bakery is big, but nothing I can eat. They have ample parking. The store is clean.

I like Gelson’s but some items in this store are super expensive like a little tray of non organic raspberries will run you 5.99 wow seriously? They do send these 5 dollars of 25. coupons in the mail that I use… I go when they are having a good sale… I love the Jessica’s crunchy Kale salad in the deli it’s so good, filling and healthy… I also get my raw honey here … Customer service is pretty good too… They discontinued this sunflower butter I used to get so the manager ordered a case for me and gave me a discount and I used my coupon on top of that… Saved me a lot so thx guys!

Stopped by here before we were heading to Santa Barbara. Went inside and was really amazed at how the grocery store looked. I have never been here or even heard about this place, but this has to be the cleanest, nicest, well put together grocery store I have ever been too. I though Whole Foods was nice, but this place looked rich. I don’t think I would be able to do my daily grocery shopping here, but I would love to come by and take a look around. We came in and got some coffee at the bakery section. They had so much pastries. They all looked so good! The workers were also very helpful. We then went to the other side and ordered a Sunrise breakfast sandwich which was a breakfast sandwich. It had eggs, bacon, tomato, and cheese. It also came with some kind of salad which was refreshing and went well with the sandwich. For about $ 5 it was pretty cheap. I would get it again. They also do have a counter of already made sandwiches which look fresh and yummy to eat.
