Good food, if you can get it. A decent menu offers plenty of promise, but be ready for a big disconnect between placing your order and getting it filled. The man running the operation was either incompetent(like fire this guy incompetent) or played favorites like a bad dog. Our food, as well as that of the customer ahead of us, sat growing cold on the counter while a small group who had arrived after us got their food first! Argh! Sometimes mistakes do happen, but two, back to back? Send the manager back to school! So, I suggest you patronize this place if there are NOOTHERCUSTOMERS. That way you might get fed in a reasonable amount of time.

I love Rubio’s. Food is excellent, nice casual eating environment. Here’s the thing though — we went in yesterday and the line was only about 10 people deep but it wasn’t moving. There were three young kids in the back, one guy in front clearly in training at the register. He was struggling and a girl in green kept coming to the front to provide clarification but didn’t stay to help this guy. She kept returning to the back — not sure why. She wouldn’t even look at the line. I get irritated at this kind of mismanagement — so I left. It looked like it was going to be a 15 – 20 minute wait just to order my food. You really can’t hate on the guy in training. He was trying.

I only get one thing from here and it’s always delicious. The people are so friendly and accommodating. I was offered a free drink as I waited for my food. It’s always clean and I love the salsa bar. Always lots of parking and plenty of places to sit outside or inside.

The service here is awful! It took them over 30 minutes to make a salad and tacos ! Every time I visit this location it takes forever to get my food! There were a few folks who looked frustrated as well. The manager here needs help. Please speed up the service! The place is remodeled and you can do better than this! Hire more cooks and serve your customers appropriately! This is horrible! Close the store and have them shadow the employees in Fairfield or El Cerrito! The customers in Vallejo deserve better treatment than this. We weren’t offered a drink, chips, or an apology. It also appears that phone orders are more important than customers in the lobby !

It’s unfortunate when you consider how this place is compared to before. When you go to a small restaurant, you don’t expect 5-star service or really anything spectacular, you only hope that everything goes smooth. This place is now far from it, don’t bother coming in on a Tuesday since there’s no courtesy warning that an order will take 30−40mins for take out. I followed up twice and got the same backlash from what I’d assume is the incompetent manager in the back–«your order was placed after a large one.» Sorry but my complaint was that everybody after me already received their order, not that you’re being slow, thanks for not being more professional. Regardless, your excuse only brings me to bother with a review, since it doesn’t matter when I ordered if you were handing out everybody else their food yet don’t care to explain to multiple customers why theirs takes longer.

Can’t remember the last time we came here to Rubio’s, and certainly can’t remember when we came to this Vallejo location. But, it was Fish Taco Tuesday, and today was the perfect day to grab some! From the outside, it looked closed but it might be the dark décor inside. Once AJ and I went inside, we saw that a lot of things had changed from the last time. First thing I thought was that I think the Mrs would like the wider selection of items here. So maybe next time we’ll hit this place up together. For this visit, I ordered 3 Original Fish Tacos and 2 kids’ meals. I thought the fish tacos were $ 1.50 but were still a good deal at $ 1.75. The waiting area for to-go orders was admittedly cramped. You end up sitting directly behind folks who are ordering their food, and almost feel like you’re intruding their space. So if you want, you can actually grab a regular table and sit away from the action. Their salsa bar is decent, and I would’ve taken a picture if the lady who was grabbing salsa wasn’t being so slow and taking her merry old time. They also have an okay selection of drinks, and yes they have beer!!! The service is OK, just like being at your neighborhood McDonald’s but they’re a little nicer. Just stand in line, wait your turn and order what you want. Cut and dry. The girl taking our order was not bad. Just trying to get through her day like the rest of us. We didn’t wait very long for our to-go order. Another girl brought out our order, and was actually smiling. We went home soon as we grabbed our order, our mouths watering. I think the kids were more interested in the churro I chose for their side, than their food(fish taco for my son and chicken bites for my daughter). They got chips, which I of course sampled. I was surprised at how fresh they tasted. Thumbs up on that note. t home, I unwrapped a Fish Taco and immediately noticed that it came with a slice of lime on top. Very nice touch. After squeezing a little bit inside the taco, the first bite was awesome. Tasted very fresh and the lime provided an acidity to compliment the fish. I don’t remember the last time we went, but this tasted like a very tasty beer battered fish and chips in a soft taco shell, and the sauce was kickin’! Just giving my honest input here, but I think I could’ve made this myself at home. But oh well, it’s Taco Tuesday and I don’t eat out too often, so this was a welcome treat. I’ll have to come back for the rest of the menu one of these days…

Good food but SLOWSERVICE!!! That’s a no no since I got places to go and people to see. **shake my head** they prioritize to go people I understand… but it’s like you’ll wait 1 and a half hour or so just to dine in with barely anyone waiting. What is that?! Poor service as well. We asked for spoon because apparently they don’t wanna restock on the floor. And the person forgot to give it until my mom actually went up there. No clean tables whatsoever. They need more people for the floor and more cooks. TOOSLOW!!!

Waited an hour for our food after we ordered it. Never came. It was like a game of chicken. At least three other customers joined us in asking for a refund. Headed over to chipotle. Both kids were cranky after a day at Discovery Kingdom, as we were leaving my 7 year old son asked«Why is Rubios so terrible Daddy?» I don’t know son, I don’t know.

This Rubio’s just had a recent makeover and I really like it. Before, everything was too crowded and the seats were so uncomfortable. Tonight, my family and I ate here and I didn’t realize how spacious this place became. The seats actually had cushion on them and could fit your whole butt and tables weren’t lopsided anymore. Lighting was nice and décor was more modern. Service here seems to be the same; I don’t think it has improved but it’s nothing compared to the service in Pleasant Hill. I usually order their famous fish tacos, but I ordered the Orange Chipotle Salad with Blackened Mahi Mahi instead. It was delicious! It is such a big dish; I barely finished it. It is my new favorite — plus, it’s under 500 calories ;)

Terrible customer service. The cashier was rude and gave my boyfriend and I attitude just because we took a couple minutes to look at the menu. «All that time and that’s all your getting?» How about all the training and that’s how you talk to customers? Never coming back.

This Rubios is ridiculously slow!!! The workers are painfully slow and have absolutely no customer service. The cashiers always seem like they are in training and take FOREVER to ring up the order. Previously we walked in and the girl said before I even ordered«just so you know, it’s about 45 minutes right now for tacos» really?!! We left and Today(which is my last) I decided to try again, the restaurant was empty except for 2 tables it took 10 minutes to order and 30 minutes to get our food. One plate was wrong, 10 minutes later to get that fixed and brought back out. The workers are arguing with each other about the orders. So unprofessional. I will enjoy Rubios at other locations.

Today my cousin and I each ate a steak street taco. We bought the three taco plate which is a pretty good portion for two people. It comes with a bean dip and chips which is a plus! I love their little salsa bar you can get as much as you want I really favor the mild red sauce salsa and the jalapeño citrus salsa which was super super delicious. Customer service was good pretty friendly and answered questions. I like how the street tacos tastes like the tacos you could get at the food truck. Next time I want to try their fish tacos!

My kids and I enjoy Rubios. My daughter and I always get steak nachos to share. We’re both big eaters and it fills us both up. Their churros are bomb! There’s always room for one no matter how full you are. Last time I went I tried the chicken tortilla soup, it was very good, I just wish it was hotter than it was when it came to me.

…this place is *bland*. I’ve been here in the past, but I didn’t want to let those experiences stain my attempt at this time. But… sadly even with rebranding and new management, it’s still just… bland. Bland bland bland. I’ll admit I haven’t tried their ‘signature’ fish tacos, but their burritos and nachos… still just… bland. …top it off with staff that decide the best way to fix their ice machine is to stab at it with a butterknife… be afraid people. Be afraid.

Really not a fan of the food or service here. Of all the great places in Vallejo to find good Mexican food, this is not it. I would not waste your time or money unless you want mediocre chain food. Go to the Mi Pueblo and get a burrito there. I know people who like the food here but it’s not for me. There’s way more authentic style places in the area.

I used to love coming here, but tonight was awful. Husband and I ordered fish tacos, nothing elaborate. It was almost half an hour until they arrived. While waiting for those, husband got back in line to order«to go», so it would be hot, for our daughter, fish tacos and chips. After waiting in line quite some time, he got back to the table and ate the tacos which had finally arrived. After we finished the meal we sat around as what seemed forever waiting on the«to go» order. He estimates that we were in there close to an hour and a half. I will say this, the young lady at the register, the only one who took orders, was very nice and smiled at the customers. I think the problem for the long wait was in the kitchen. Maybe they need to hire a few more cooks?

Since I’ve lived in the area I’ve supported this establishment because it’s the closest Mexican food establishment. Food is ok. Since its renovation the portions have shrank considerably and the service is SLOW. Food being given out of order. Not good if an order placed after yours get their food first. Hmm. Chipotle just opened nearby. I’m there. Update: more people asking for their money back because they never got their food. People who ordered after them got their food first. Bad. Service.

This is our second time visiting Rubio’s. We like the all their fish tacos but service was slow. It was all good until we waited for our food. It took 20 min to get our order(Coastal Trio and Especial Fish Taco). We thought the crowd was average to wait that long. The tacos were good though. Advice when coming here… be patient.

Wow almost a 45 min wait for 2 tacos and 1 burrito, really! They were not even that busy. My wife and I have been to other Rubios in the past and had a great experience. In addition the wait the order was incorrect, but I dared not having them correct it for fear of waiting another 45 min. I will say the staff was friendly but offered no apologies for the wait. My advice, don’t go here if you value your time. If you’re the manager of this location you need to fix this problem ASAP.

Disappointed. Boyfriend n I went there for dinner tonight. Slow service and there were def not busy, maybe 3 tables ahead of us. Staff were forecebly friendly, not genuine. Dirty tables. Outside was disgusting which was sad cause it was such a beautiful night aaand the inside wast much better. Waited over 20mins our meals. I had the shrimp and bacon salad. Blah. The dressing lacked flavor and the shrimp were overcooked. My bf ordered the steak burrito especial which he said was good but not great. All of my previous visits have been so great with very delicious food so like I mentioned above I’m just very disappointed. It will likely be awhile before I decide to return

Am loyal patron of this place and been going to this place like 3 – 4 times weekly for past 4 years and this evening is first time that service is really slow even after remodeling. Order my food at 7:57 pm. 30 minutes am still waiting only to discover that for some reason they skip my order… No bueno.

There are hours are 10 – 10 yet I walk in at 3:45 and they said they are not taking orders until 4 p.m. Now what could be the reason behind this silliness? They won’t say.

If you’re hungry, go across the street to The Habit. You’ll wait more than 30 minutes here for your order. Even if you’re not THAT hungry but you value your time… grab a polish dog at Costco. Staff was friendly but the wait… about 40 minutes! O_o

Giving four stars in hopes that they will live up to that rating… 4 stars for customer service– the line was out the door today! Took about 10 minutes to get to the register and place my order. Girl was real nice tho. Great attitude even though it was really busy. Never stopped smiling and asked if there was anything else she can do to help me. I asked her how long the wait would be for my order of 2 fish tacos and a chicken quesadilla to go. She said 15 – 20 min. 1 star for the wait– I ordered my food at 8:08pm. Received my food at 8:50pm. 42 minute wait(not including line time) for two tacos and a quesadilla Customers were escalating their situations to the manager saying they’ve been waiting forever. I was annoyed myself but what made me rate 4 stars overall instead of 1 is the way the workers stayed positive. Smiles were on their faces the whole time. Irate customers would ask where their food was, asked for the status and had the worse attitudes. Those are the kinds of people who have never worked in a fast-paced environment. If you’ve never done it, don’t judge. Yes, Rubio’s needs to have better time management and more coverage for sure but what makes me want to come back is their customer service. None of their employees were negative in any way even though the customers were that way toward them.
