This is a really cute diner. Small and has character. The bagels are so fresh and taste like east coast bagels. Worth it!

Their brew coffee is the best in town, who need Starbucks anyway when you got Java Jax~

Ummm I stopped by for a bacon croissant sandwich with egg and cheese. It was around $ 6 and although the size was perfect I really can’t remember anything about it. The taste was bland. Maybe if they used bacon strips instead of mixing the pieces into the scrambled egg I’d taste something more but the cheese was bland too smh

Stopped by quick for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee to go. The service was excellent, as was the food and the coffee. A bit pricey, but so much better for me than some of these other places. By the way, I don’t always like the coffee but today it was great!

Java Jax sells vienna hot dogs in many forms, bagels, croissants, bagels, gourmet coffee, etc. brew: coffee(m. 2.25) -«gourmet beans» didn’t ask which kind tasted above average, smooth, not so bold. 3.5 stars eats: chicago dog(4) –overflowing with toppings, condiments spear pickle best part bigger bun helpful. –dog tasted bland, soaked too long in water? –3 stars, disappointing take outs: –service outstanding –dog counter over from cashier’s –would skip dog, maybe just a bad batch… –lots of parking.

At first I loved this place I got the lox everytime and my bf gets the breakfast bagle. Then I came in one day and got my usual and it looked thrown together. A giant square of cream cheese and then barley any lox. I brought it to the cashier and he emediatly had an aditude saying that this is how it is always made. I asked for my money back and won’t be going back. I really would still go if it wasn’t for the fact that the guy acted like I was crazy!

This is a review only about the coffee — no commentary on the food. On my second trip to Java Jax in Vallejo, I ordered a large coffee(the only size, in my book!) and proceeded to attempt to put some half-&-half into my cup. It did not appear to make the coffee look very creamy… I added a bit more. I tasted the coffee… NOT creamy at all. I asked the owner if perhaps an error had been made, since the decanter clearly read«½ & ½». No, re replied, it was the same«creamer» they always served. Then he stated the«creamer» is made using HALF half and half and half low-fat milk. I won’t visit Java Jax again because I like a hot cup of coffee with cream, typically known as «half & half»(made with half cream and half whole milk). Further, deceptively labeling a decanter as «half & half» when it’s no such thing is not a good business practice. It makes me wonder what else he’s deceptively labeling or promoting.

What a total gem! You know that place in your humble hometown you keep meaning to try but never seem to get around to it; Java Jax has always been that place for me. I finally got the opportunity to try this place early in the morning a few Saturdays ago when I was out for a walk. I had the bagel and lox on a toasted onion bagel. It was perfect. Generous portions of cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onions and capers. Just how I like it prepared I also had one of their Apple pastries. It was flaky and buttery and the apples were perfectly soft. There was also a little bit of sweetened cream cheese in the pastry, unexpected and delicious. The service was friendly and quick and the atmosphere was cool and casual. I will definitely come back here again

On a recent trip to Napa for a wedding, we took advantage of a certificate and put some serious hurtin’ on some breakfast & a sandwich to-go back to the hotel with us! The service was friendly, the food was very good, and the coffee may have very well saved our lives after a night of post-wedding reception partying! Hubby had the breakfast burrito, which was massive and loaded with sausage and just the right amount of cheese, I had the bagel with lox… soooo yummy! Toasted to perfection, a tender bagel with a good schmear, moist lox and onion, tomato & capers. The lox bagel trifecta! We shared a piece of cream cheese apple danish… warmed…fantastic! We took a chicken salad sammie w potato salad back to the hotel fridge for later and it was a knockout too! Well done, Java Jax! Great service, great food(and lots of it!) and great prices!

This is a pretty great place to eat with fast service and super friendly staff! My fiancé and I have been in Vallejo for the last three days and we’ve loved this place so much we’ve ate breakfast here every morning. I would highly recommend the lox bagel or the breakfast bagel. They are both freshly made and delicious! Their morning bun pastries are a new weakness of mine too. The coffee they serve is hot and pretty much on par with other cafés. If you need a quick bite for breakfast, come here!

I had a few minutes to kill, so I Unilocaled a place that made breakfast sandwiches. Parking was easy to find, and the service was friendly & helpful, the food came out quickly & I loved the vegan cookies they sell on the counter! I do wish they had more veggies to put in their breakfast bagels, but my egg & tomato bagel still tasted good!

I’ve been on the fence with this, and I can no longer support Java Jax. The staff is SUPER nice, but the older gentleman, whom I think may be one of the owners, can be VERY rude! And what I saw today was the last straw for me. Me and the gentleman he was rude to just looked at each other and shook our heads. It feels borderline racist at times. Not to mention he’s gotten our orders wrong 1 too many times. It’s a cute, clean, place to meet with a friend, but I will no longer be one of their customers.

I love to stop in for a cup and pastry before work. I like seeing the ‘regulars’ sitting at their tables chatting away. The deal with this place is that it has been pretty consistently there. I recall my being there 5 years ago and the place and the people in it still stand. Vallejo is ever changing, but there are some things(or places in this case) that make the city as eclectic as it is. I love that this place tailors to the working class, artists and the community. Its not so over priced and definitely not a chain(although I don’t entirely dismiss those operations). Lately, I have been off & on about spending money on coffee & a pastry. But when I can afford to, I don’t mind keeping it local.

This shop has been here for 9 years. When I walked in today it is almost as though I was walking in 9 years ago. The man who runs the place has more character then you can imagine. Get him talking and he has fantastic stories. Grab a cup of smooth deep flavored coffee in a for here cup and watch a live action sitcom unfold! Fantastic goodies and HotDogs. Stop by and know that this place is awesome!

Local, with great crew :) coffee is roasted infront of you. And the regulars are funny as well. Don’t forget to order one of their very good sandwiches. I love the lox bagel. Parking: street parking or you can pull in to see if they a spot. Barista: grumpy looking man … But he’s super nice, and smart! The other guy Al: amazing dude who remembers who you are! Overall great experience, and great coffee.

The reviews made it sound better than it was. I was a little sad. I was super hungry as we had been on the road for a few hours already. I had a breakfast bagel with egg and bacon. It was OK. Not something that i would get again if i was in the area. Although, i found the place to be completely adorable and spotless so clean. The two gentlemen working were so kind!!!

I had never been to Vallejo before, so on our way to catch the ferry to San Francisco, we found that we had some spare time to find a quick breakfast spot. Joe K. had read some pretty good Unilocal reviews about this place and it made our decision to stop here an easy one. This coffee house is well maintained, cute and clean with the 50’s style red vinyl and chrome bar stools and matching tables. We were greeted right away by a very nice young girl who was eager to help with our food choices. She recommended one of her favorite«Morning Buns» as a starter. We also selected a breakfast croissant with egg, cheese and turkey. Everything on the menu looked deliciously appetizing! As we were paying for our orders, the gentleman at the register whom I suspect is the owner, was more business like and had a serious demeanor. Even when my boyfriend tried to break the ice with some courteous small talk and jokes, he never cracked a smile or barely responded. The young female employee seemed to take over the friendly customer service side whenever she could. I even felt a little uncomfortable to look in his direction for fear of receiving a stern glare from him. I also noticed that many locals patronized this place with a steady stream of customers. They all received the same«Vulcan» like treatment as we did. I guess showing no emotion works for some humans too! Anyway, our food, orange juice and coffee all fit the bill and we felt ready to move on to our next destination with satisfied stomachs. I still really like this place and could easily become a regular here if only we didn’t live so far away!

Java Jax has character! We had originally planned to go to Good Day Café on our way to the ferry but we got kind of a late start so we decided to try Java Jax instead. We were quickly greeted upon our entrance by a really nice, smiling employee with a wonderful personality. She was very good at explaining things to us and took our order before disappearing into the kitchen to prepare our breakfast croissants that were stuffed with egg, cheese and turkey. On her recommendation we started out with a kind of cinnamon roll called Morning Buns. «Would you like your Morning Buns toasted?» She sweetly asked? «How do you like your buns?» I replied. «I like my buns toasty», she answered. (We now like toasty buns too.) After our wonderful, smiling employee retreated to the kitchen, the«man» took over. Think opposite of wonderful, smiling, helpful employee with great personality. Think ultimate nonsmiling, clueless person that so lacks any resemblance of personality that he becomes a classic character that would have been perfect on a sitcom like Friends. Think the kind of person that can convey that nonpersonality to you on your first visit because it radiates from his pours. How can you not love that guy? He only adds to the great character of Java Jax. It is a classic janky, no frills kind of place with plenty of room and seating and even has a small parking lot. BTW — You are probably wondering how my breakfast Croissant was? I would have liked the croissant to be a little more flaky but I really wasn’t expecting a gourmet croissant. It was good, had plenty of egg and cheese, and just the right amount of turkey. It was exactly what I expected. I will definitely be going back the next time I am in the area.
