The selection is only so-so, the owner is not very friendly, and if you have a question, you aren’t likely to get good service. Also, even if you call ahead for hours, no guarantee the hours given will be correct. Ive had enough, will be shopping elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.

Very bad customer service, the employee/owner, whatever he is, just sits there and does not acknowledge customers. He NEVER smiles and also their products are too pricey!

I’ve been going to this store for about 4 years now. I go in, usually nod or say hello to owner at front and get all my spices, lentils, snack foods and prepared nans and parathas. I’ve found the prices good and the variety of Spices extensive. I do not expect the shop keepers to follow me around or to chat me up while i am shopping. I am left alone to browse and i prefer that. At the end i pay for my goods and talk a little with the owners and im done. I don’t understand why some people expect the owners to smile and follow them around. I find the owners courteous without being overly friendly and pushy. Again «The owners are courteous without being overly friendly and pushy». Which i prefer.

It is an Indian gem in Vallejo(CA), I found all the spices to make my ethnic meals. Very good selection of frozen Indian specialties. If they had also the restaurant it would be a plus.

Worst customer service ever… person at the counter Won’t even help. Closing time showing 8:00 pm on Unilocal but closed early even when we needed to pick something urgent . Unfriendly, impolite, non courteous people at register… Go only if all shops in area burned down already

I totally love this store! Cheap prices. Great selection. And the owner is as charming, nice, and helpful as he can possibly be. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about on that point.(Maybe the problem is more with them.) Please patronize this store. It is wonderful!

They have really good frozen samosas you can make at home… They are delish and very reasonable! I’m munching on some right now… Next time I gotta get some chutney to dip them in! :)

Bazaar is a great store. They have excellent variety and very reasonable prices. However, I’ll agree that the owner isn’t as friendly as most would like. When I walked in he was sitting at the front counter on his laptop, I assume listening to music. Though he wasn’t friendly initially, after talking to him for a while he became very helpful in helping me choose henna. He even told me he would try to start stocking the specific brand I was looking for. Convenience, product, and price are all far more important to me than customer service, so I’ll definitely be a returning customer.

I’m not sure what others are saying about customer service being unfriendly here. Each time that I’ve shopped here(including today) the owner was very nice to me. He always answers all my questions(no matter how silly I think they are) and is very pleasant. Today I was there to buy some henna and he helped me decide between the powder I mix myself and just buying the pre-made cones… I ended up buying the cones. They had two different packages and I asked to make sure they were the same and he confirmed they were and that the only difference was just that they were different manufacturers. Very helpful! Also, they are pretty reasonable in price(I believe)…my henna cones were only $ 2 each. Hope this helps someone. :)

I went to this store twice, I guess I don’t have any choice their items are great but the owner is not friendly, he doesn’t say hi or thank you. He seems to be nice only to his own people. I will never gonna go there anymore.

Very diasspointed! Staff is very unfriendly and jsut sits there. Does not offer to help or bother to even smile at you. The owner really needs to take some classes on providing customer service. The only positive thing is the merchandise variety is good. Overall, I would NOT go back their again and refuse to be a loyal customer where great customer service is not valued.

In a typical stripmall, this place has been here ten years and succeeds because it has the best selection of Indian foodstuffs and videos/cds in the area, perhaps the whole county… and the service is friendly, while the prices are reasonable, even cheap considering you can hardly get these things anywhere else around here. Definitely worth a visit.

Broke out the Indian cookbook for the first time yesterday. Made a dish that called for fenugreek and some other spices. Went to Raley’s and they didn’t have the spices so, I found Bazaar online. Even though I’ve passed by Bazaar 100’s of times but, never considered going in until now. Glad I did. Great store that carried all the spices I needed. Chili powder, fenugreek coriander seeds, garam masala, paneer, ground cardamom. The owner was very friendly and helpful. For all the spices, paneer and bag of naan came to $ 27. These spices will last for quite some time but, I’ll be back to the store for the ethnic trip without having to leave Vallejo.

Bazaar is a great little store that has served me well when I’ve needed exotic spices that the grocery stores just don’t carry. Fenugreek? Different types of cardamom? Rose or orange blossom water? Yes, yes, and yes. If you’re a creative cook interested in exploring the cuisine of India or other regions in southern Asia or Africa, I highly recommend you make a visit. I’m not into Bollywood films in a big way but their video section is enormous and looks to be quite comprehensive, so if that’s your thing, you’d probably love this place even more than I do.
