I eat here often, mostly because its close to work and convenient. The service is always excellent. I had dinner here with a bunch of girlfriends last Tuesday prior to paint night. The owner was helping our server as we were in a time crunch. Our order, drinks and service was superb. Service was fast and friendly as always. They didn’t forget a thing and we had them running around for drinks, ranch… etc. My only complaint is, the food is just ok. The new owners have put a lot of time into this place and its looking much better. But, I think we need to take a second to reflect on the menu and learn something from the food truck revolution. People will line up for hours to eat in a parking lot if you have amazing food. You can stick with the island theme, but there are tons of islands in the world. Mix it up, go Jamaican, Cuban, Caribbean, Mexican. You are not a franchise, you do not answer to corporate bosses. You can do whatever you want to do. Make it amazing. Just my opinion and yes, I will continue to eat here either way.

If you want a mixed drink you need to get here during happy hour otherwise you’ll spend $ 8.00 for a rock glass full of ice and maybe squeeze out 3 to four small sips if your lucky. Hide-a-way? I’d hide far away from this place if I were you.

This is one of my family’s favorite places to eat. It’s definitely a hole-in-the-wall feel but the food is great, the servers are always helpful and smiling and the prices are good. My husband and teenage son always order the Bonzai burger, which is hamburger, spam, eggs, bacon, onion rings, lettuce, tomato, onions and cheese… all ON the burger. Then you get a side of your choice. they serve breakfast all day, and have a nice kids menu too.

My boyfriend and I were in the area shopping and decided to check this place out per the Unilocal reviews. Great choice. We sat at the bar and Our server Brook was awesome, friendly, fun and great customer service. The drinks and appetizers were perfect. We will definitely be back!

We love Hide-A-Way!!! It might be considered a ‘hole in the wall’ but we’re from Reno & it’s our favorite ‘hole in the wall’ in Northern California! It’s bar food but good bar food, wild crowd but NICE crowd. Good service & cheap booze! We’ve never once had a problem here. Always coming back for more! CHRISTIAN is the best service we’ve had this far!

This place gets 5 stars for service. Our large PartyLite group usually rents out the local bowling alley conference center for our monthly trainings. When we showed up, they had forgotten to tell our VP they scheduled the room to be painted that day. On 10 minutes notice, the staff at Hide-A-Way Lounge and Grill had setup their meeting room for us complete with tables and chairs. We got full service for food and drinks and the prices were reasonable. I hope we go back there for our training in January.

We just had a very nice lunch here. Haven’t been here in eight years but will definitely be back. Brook was our server and did a great job. Nice menu, lots more things we want to try.

I had my Birthday party here. Josh was the best person I could have asked for to work with. They supplied the table cloths, table skirts, silverware, glasses, plates and chaffing dishes/w sterno to keep our food hot(and the oven until we put our food in the dishes). Josh replaced the food as needed, the bartender was great and made drinks in a timely manner. There was room for my DJ, tables for people to sit and enjoy themselves and room for my game tables. His prices were reasonable and the food and service were good, if I had to pick a place all over again I would not have changed one thing. In short if I could give Josh ten stars I would.

Excellent service and great food. After a long day at work it was a great atmosphere to unwind and have a great local IPA and the biggest most flavorful burger to date! Will be back!

hmm bunch of drunk weirdos either from the hotel traffic or locals. My bad for expecting too much maybe. Nothing wrong with the service and drinks. I just should not be here

If you are from Vacaville and fairfield, you would know this isn’t close to a dive bar. It’s a diverse kind of crowd which is awesome, and the staff is really cool and nice, been here at least ten times already more than half during their happy hour 4 – 7 :) good prices for beer(Heritic), I’m sure for liquor also but I don’t touch it lol. Food isn’t five star but what is in Vacaville and FF? Great atmosphere and experience alone or with friends. Definitely will see me in here whenever possible, specially for that happy hour Heritic $ 8 pitcher: D

This hard to get to restaurant is a neat little place. The prices are fair and the food is good. It’s right next to a Quality Inn, which is why we’ve gone the both times we have. It looks like a dive from the outside but it’s actually kind of charming inside. Not as much Island deco as I’d expect. The location is a bit strange. You have to drive past it then go around a bit to get there. They’ve got TV screens and seem to show sports when requested. They also have live music occasionally, according to the insert in the menu. Pretty good happy hour from 4 – 7. Side note, I heard a server talking about new ownership, and not knowing how much things will change. So there’s that.

The place looks and the food tastes almost exactly as you would imagine them from the way the joint looks. Averagely average food in an average setting. Service? It was… average.

So I wanted to try something new while in town visiting my mother in law and read about this place on Unilocal. Location: Odd location and its somewhat sketchy. If possible they might want to consider adding a driveway that connects to the dead in street behind the gas station to increase traffic. Restaurant Itself: Yes the outside landscaping could use some serious TLC but the inside was spotless! I don’t think I’ve been somewhere so clean. I noticed while sitting there that a table was never dirty for very long and unlike most restaurants they use a new rag and a bottle of sanitizer to clean the tables. The décor was cute and very«islandy». The only thing that didnt seem to fit in well was the tables, they were an odd shape and reminded me more of a diner than anything else. Service: Was really good, I believe it was a manager that sat us and he was very nice. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Both the manager and the server told us the specials right away. Food: Good! I will be honest I was a little apprehensive of the food due to some mixed Unilocal reviews and the fact that a steak was only $ 15.99. Honestly though, the steak was one of the best restaurant steaks I’ve had! My mother in law also had the steak and was impressed. My husband had the Steak and Cheese sandwich and reported that it was really good! We had the lumpia appetizer as well and it was tasty as well! Final thoughts: I would definitely make the trek over here again. I also think this will be a fun place to come have a few drinks when we’re in town.

This place is definitely fun. I like that it’s small and not full of all the younger kids that bring all the drama. It’s nice to be able to have a drink and chill with friends. There’s also a billiards room which is pretty awesome. There’s room to actually play since it’s in its own room. Jerel makes awesome freakin drinks too.

A local spot for sure, hidden on some dead end streets next to a sad looking Quality Inn. I think this is more of a drinking place with happy hour, nightly drink specials first and foremost, and the restaurant section being more of an addition. Nonetheless, I came here for a quick work lunch & found the dining area fairly empty, but there were plenty of people hanging out at the bar. A bit divey & tacky interior but it fits the Hawaiian theme. Menu covers Hawaiian style dishes, burgers, etc, so I ordered the Loco Moco breakfast version. It was very delicious, besides ignoring the fact that I was eating salt heavy Spam with a hamburger patty covered in gravy. I think my heart was working overtime by the end of the meal, but chowing down on gravy sauce paired with over easy eggs & meat left me feeling pretty satisfied. Worth a quick stop if you’re in the area or driving past Vacaville to get some filling Hawaiian food & alcohol.

‘Shortly after moving to Vacaville from the Laguna Beach area, EL& I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and it was there that I met Justin, our waiter. After taking our order, Justin asked if I was from Hawai’i, we started talking story and he happened to mention a local spot, the Hide-A-Way. Note: ‘And, it just so happens, that Justin is also the son of the husband & wife team of the Hide-A-Way. ‘Fast forward three months… ‘And here I am. I’ve heard terms like Hawaiian grinds, local, dive bar, good food in regard to the Hide-A-Way & it all sounded good. I walked in just a little after 4pm, the place was practically empty with the exception of a few people sitting in the bar area. I waited a few minutes until Brook came over. — «So, are you planning to eat, drink or both… You can sit any where you’d like but you may want to sit in the bar area since, I’m currently the only covering the floor.»(The bar area was perfect.) ‘Did I mention it was Happy Hour? It seems that this is a pretty popular, local watering-hole… Imagine, «Cheers,» but more lo-key, real lo-key. There were a couple of guys, near the end of the bar, who seemed to know quite a few of patrons walking in, «Nnnn’orm!»(Yeh, kinda like that.) Brook, the bartender/waiter/host, knew most of them as well. The clientele at that time of day was a bit on the older side, getting together for a few drinks, something to eat and«talk story.» The overall vibe was«chill,» just seemed like a cool place to hangout… I was really looking forward to some home cooked lau lau, lomi salmon, maybe even some pipikaula…(Insert«Wrong answer» buzzer sound here) Unfortunately, the names of the majority of the dishes were more Hawaiian than the actual plates themselves.(i.e. — Kauai Omelet, Kilauea Breakfast, Paniolo Special, etc.) In all honesty, the closest thing that resembled a local kine dish was the loco moco… ‘And even that had a different twist to it — ‘Plus SPAM. Ho’ brah, have to admit I was a bit bummed, nothing soothes the soul like comfort food… «Bummahs.» 8/Oh well, I was here and gonna make the best of it… Well, they did have loco moco. 8) They even a different take on that as well… The loco moco has the standard hamburger beef BUT it also had two pieces of SPAM.(Haha!) «Yes, please!» Also, they had another version, the chicken fried steak loco moco!”(No need to explain, the name says it all.) Now, that was something that I was really tempted to try but first, I wanted to see how well they executed the standard loco moco… ‘And after I had that, I’d decide if I would make a return visit. Verdict: I’ll be coming back… ‘Most likely for that chicken fr’oco moco! This is what I ordered: Coors Light(x2): $ 4 — Great Happy Hour Specials Loco Moco(Dinner): $ 13.49 — Huge portions; good flavor Lumpia(Appetizers): $ 5.49 — Good portions; meaty; flavorful Grand Total: $ 22.74(+ $ 4 tip) I opted for the loco moco *dinner, comes with grilled onions, mac salad, and choice of garlic bread or Hawaiian Sweet Bread. ‘After getting my order, Brook apologized for the eggless loco moco that was now sitting in front of me… ‘He asked if I still wanted the eggs, I said if it wasn’t any trouble, sure… As we say back on the aina, «If can, can… If no can, no worries!» I left it up to Brook… ‘Five minutes later, the bruddah had two, hot off the grill eggs before me. The service here was great! — «Mahalo Brook for the Aloha!» NOTE: Unlike the basic loco moco order, the dinner is served sans eggs… ‘No eggs, zilch, zero, nada.(‘Which I found a bit odd… ‘No eggs, really? Huh?) The loco moco was mamona(huge), and broke da mout’!(Delicious!) Yeh, I was goin’ have to take the rest of this home… Ono’licious!(Tasty good!) The mac salad was just okay, was hoping for good to great but… It was«alright.»(Mainland style) The grilled onions were cooked just right and a nice compliment to the loco moco. The two sunny-side up eggs… ‘The finishing touch! Here’s a list of the menu items that qualified as «Hawaiian.» — Loco Moco($ 10.49) 2 eggs, 2 slices SPAM, hamburger patty on top of a bed of rice in brown gravy Loco Moco *Dinner($ 13.49) Served w/mac salad & grilled onions; garlic or Hawaiian Sweet Bread Note: The dinner DOESNOT come with two eggs. Saimin($ 8.99) Noodles in broth, diced SPAM, sausage & green onions (IMO: A bit pricey for saimin… ‘That better be one big bowl!) SPAM Overall, a solid 3 Stars.(See breakdown below.) I was surprised to not see more local, Hawaiian style plates… I somewhat expected to find linguica on the menu but that too was MIA. Linguica, eggs & rice, a staple dish & island favorite…(‘With SPAM& Vienna Sausage as alternatives.) Again, no linguica… 8/ NOTE: As another Unilocal*er mentioned, the back, outside area is generally reserved for smoking so keep that in mind if you decide to eat on the back patio. A hui hou!(Until next time!) — Big Aloha! Food: 3+ Ambiance: 3 Service: 5 Value: 4

Love this place! Love this place ever since I started working in Vacaville and even though I’m no longer there, I still love it! The workers are friendly, some may just be natural grumps, but the majority are nice. I’ve came here for lunch and for the bar. Their loco moco is hella better than L&L and their money balls are on point! I’ve recently become a fan of their volcano balls as well, try the poopoo platter and live life on the edge with a whole plate of fried heaven. Monday’s are the best. $ 6 pitchers(of course limited) but damn, Rolling Rock has gotten me fu’ked up after three pitchers — can’t complain about that! I love dive bars, however I do not like bar flies. They tend to come around earlier in the day and are scarce at night(thank god). There’s also a hidden driveway from the Hide-a-way to the McDonald’s/gas station too! By the way, the juke box is always charged even if you have the app.
