This place is great. We tried ten different rolls and they were all great and different. The rolls are very large and the fish quality is great.

This is definitely my go-to sushi place in Vacaville. This was the first spot I tried when moving here last year and after trying a few other places, this is the best. The prices are reasonable, service is always great, and food is tasty(and the fish always tastes fresh — which in my opinion, is absolutely the most important part of any sushi spot). What more can you ask for? The menu is extensive, which can make it hard to choose, but I love that there are so many options. Two thumbs up!

My mate and I have a thing where we go and try a new place every so often. Hana sushi in downtown Vacaville was the spot we chose on this particular night, which was a special night for us considering it was our anniversary. We made a bad decision. We walked in and chose a table towards the back wall and sat down. Immediately a server was there asking what we would like to drink before we even had a menu to look at. We ordered two root beers and she walked away. My dinner date went to the restroom after the server left and as he was gone she came back to let me know they were out of root beer. Okay, can We have dr. Pepper? They were out of that as well so I ordered us cokes. My date came back and I informed him that they were out and I ordered Coke which was alright. We took awhile looking over the giant menu and I was salivating at how good it all looked. The waitress came back and gave us our cokes which were not carbonated and Luke warm even with the ice which was strange. We ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki bento box and two rolls, the Tarzan roll and the kamikaze roll. As we waited for our food we took the time to look around the room which was very disappointing. It’s a small space which is fine but the décor is depressing and not appealing to look at. The paint was chipping off the walls which were a dark red and made the whole space dark and gloomy with its very dim lights and it made you feel as if you were in a dark funeral home. There were cob webs above us on the awful fake flowers. The sushi chef was taking shots with a young couple at the sushi bar which made things very uneasy and very unprofessional. The waitress came with the miso soup which was very hot and bland. For being miso soup with seaweed it had no salt or flavor at all. The rest of the food came out after awhile and I thought to myself maybe it would have came out faster if the sushi chef focused on her job instead of drinking on the job. The bento box looked appetizing but sadly wasn’t the beef was dry and over cooked and bland you can tell it wasn’t seasoned well or at all before being cooked and drenched in sauce. The chicken was alright nothing special and was swimming in sauce which was offsetting. It was like a chicken teriyaki soup. Moving to the sushi the Tarzan roll was pretty good taste wise the only thing I had an issue with was it was hard to grab with the chopsticks because of the sauce on the bottom made the rice soggy and it fell apart. The top had old avocado on it it was slightly brown but despite that was really good. The kamikaze roll on the other hand was pathetic. It was giant and not in a good way it was just to much for a sushi roll. It had a lot of sauce so that’s all you tasted. I wiped a lot of sauce off of one and it had very little taste to it. The fish/rice ratio was all off whack. It was deep fried for too long it made the cream cheese melt and it cooked the salmon which is supposed to be raw inside. I wasn’t impressed and I’m planning on going to the Dixon Hana to see if it is in better shape. I really wished this place was great like all the reviews said but ultimately it failed.

I’m rating this restaurant a 4 because the customer service was HORRIBLE! We entered the building and sat ourselves, then she gave us our menus. After that, we did not see waitress for another 10 minutes. She was running around with her head cut off; when there was no one there. She finally came to our table to ask us what we wanted to drink. Come to find out they have very little wine left ??? Huh? Anyways, the food eventually came and… it was AMAZING!!! The rolls are to die for! You have to try Samurai and Golden gate! I will go back for pick up only!

I hate to give this place one star, but after making my boyfriend very sick I feel compelled. In years past I have visited Hana sushi and really enjoyed it and its great prices. Last night was my 21st birthday and I was excited to grab some dinner at my favorite sushi spot. However, last night’s meal prompted me to leave an unfortunate review. The tuna was off… to say the least. Not fresh, pungent smell, and briny. Off taste. The salmon was rubbery and off tasting. The sauce was overly sweet. Very soon after dinner, my boyfriend became violently ill by vomiting, and I’ve been very nauseous all day. We both felt fine before that and hadn’t really eaten anything. Please fix your ways Hana. :(

Omg soo delishuzzzz! A little slow but swweet waitress and so homey and cute. The tropical roll was ok but the umami roll was soo amazing and delishuzz and fresh and gourmet and genius to put sesame oil on the fish. this was an amazing dining experience, keep it up !

This place is awesome! It is a family owned restaurant, and the staff is great. We sat at the sushi bar, and it was such a good atmosphere. The sushi rolls were huge and delicious! I will definitely be going here again. :)

I’m Asian with a Japanese girlfriend from Tokyo and have spent almost a month in Japan every year in the last three years: I’m familiar with Japanese food and culture. This place has good sushi and a great drink selection. A must stop if your brain is telling your stomach that it craves sushi. Listen to your inter thoughts for once and satisfy that craving. Your brain: «Stop by Hana sushi…»

This place is pretty much a staple for me to go to in Vacaville. I’ve tried a majority of the sushi places in town, but this one just sticks out to me as the best quality. There’s usually only one server working, so sometimes you wait a bit for things. But the service is always friendly. Only suggestions would be to change the specials more often– they have been the same since I started coming here a year ago. And to also have a little extra clean up, last time my boyfriend and I ate here, there was a strange odor permeating throughout the restaurant. Other than those two minor details, the sushi and rolls are great. I haven’t tried anything here I haven’t liked. Large menu, and pictures of each roll help to make your selections a lot easier.

I visited this tucked away sushi spot on a date for the first time and it had to be the worst day they’ve ever had there. They had one chef and one server and everything was chaos. The poor waitress had a full dining room and was doing all she could just to keep up. We waited over an hour to get our order and actually spent that time having a lot of fun with the situation and the frazzled staff. The rolls were incredible and unique in their design, so if you’re looking for your average California roll look elsewhere. Sashimi was on point and I left having had a wonderful time. Since then I’ve visited the Dixon location as well as returned to this one and I can say I’ll keep coming back for more(oh, and it never got crazy again). Really worth checking out!(And try the Cosmo roll)

Wow! Much improved! I will be coming back. My favorite is the Golden Gate Roll. I’m so glad I gave them another chance! We have been back at least 4 times this year(2015) and each time we are very pleased with the taste and quality.

My 2nd favorite Japanese restaurant! Before my boyfriend and I discovered Kobe Japan, this was our number 1 spot for sushi. Their rolls are bigger than average. But! The flavor is never compromised. Service: 4⁄5 Food: 5⁄5 Ambiance: 5⁄5

Tonight, I had my first experience here and it was terrible. I went to Hana with some friends to fill that good ‘ol sushi craving. I was excited to try something new and I loved all the pictures of the rolls on the menu! We were seated right away, but with half the room full, the waitress informed us that she did not have any menu’s to give us… She gave us one as soon as it became available. I looked at it, while my friends, who brought me here that are regulars, didn’t really need a menu anyways. We ordered our food about 10 minutes after receiving the menus. It took us an hour to get our rolls and another half hour to get all of them! We went at 6pm on Monday night and there was one waitress, one sushi bar guy and two people in the kitchen. Two tables next to us, that got there after we ordered, ordered boxes of food and got their food before us! They also got their sushi rolls before us, probably because they were done eating their boxes already. After noticing people around us getting all of their food and finishing it before we even got ours, we asked the waitress what was up. She told us it would take 15 more minutes to get our food. 10 mins later, she brought one roll out of four. The waitress brought us free edamame, so that was cool. The sushi was good when we finally got it, but kinda weird that it was at such random times. Our waitress also brought us a bunch of free mochi, which I was so excited about, until I tried it and it was aweful! The outside crumbled stiffly and the ice cream had frost bite. It felt like they gave us the bad ice cream because it was free… We were there for about 2 hours and 45 minutes overall mostly waiting for the food. I’m so disappointed with the service and mochi. We went out to get dessert some other place to make up for our bad experience. Also, if this adds anything to how long we were waiting for our food, the wasabi they brought us was turning brown and hard by the time we got our food…

Vacaville is the midway between my sister and I so this seemed like a great place to meet up for lunch as it’s about 45 minutes from both of us. The waitress greeted me as soon as I got there and offered me a drink and we ordered when she returned with the drink. I ordered the bento box(good deal for $ 11 for 2 items) with teriyaki salmon and California rolls. It also came with a side salad, rice and one potsticker. The meal was okay, nothing too special although the salmon was drenched in sauce, it probably could’ve used a little less. The service was good, she was very attentive and the food came out pretty quickly but nothing about the food stood out too much for me, everything was just ok.

Like the saying goes, don’t judge the book by its cover. From the outside this place doesn’t look like much. The ambiance isn’t the most appealing, but the food more than makes up for it. Hurricane roll is amazing! It was sweet, tangy, fresh and crispy all in one. We also had the Hannah Bombtana roll, one of the specials. The udon was a little bland for my taste, but the tempura sauce was really good. A solid sushi spot for Vacaville!

One of the best sushi places of the area. We went for a quick bite during our lunch time and it was excellent. I had the Hot Spicy Tuna roll, just perfect. And the portions were really big. I couldn’t eat it all. My friends love their food to be very spicy and hot. They ordered the Godzilla and they love it. It was the perfect level of spicy(Very Hot) that they like. Overall, it’s a great place to get good quality of sushi.

This is a super cute small sushi restaurant on the end of Main Street. The fish tasted very fresh. I ordered a large sashimi platter which was tuna, hamachi, and salmon and I order the Yoshi role, which was different than anything else I’ve had; it had snapper on top. And their creamy garlic sauce is delicious!!! I’ll definitely consider going back here again when I’m passing by the area. Reasonable prices too!

Overall, Hana Sushi is an alright place… ‘After all, Vacaville isn’t exactly known for its phenomenal sushi scene…(‘That would be meth-labs.) I’m joking!!! Everyone knows it’s the weed. Mahalo Hana Sushi & «Su’Joe!»(Sushi Joe) Drawering — It’s the simple things that make me happy… ‘Sushi & soju. Hana Sushi was recommended by a co-worker and I’ve been craving sushi for the past week or so… I was a bit hesitant but after reading over the reviews, I felt a bit more @ ease. Store Front — So, I arrived @ 4pm, looking forward to a good meal… «CLOSED.» Business Hours — Dinner service starts @ 5pm.(Sigh) Sh*t… I can wait. I took a stroll at the local park just around the corner. I’m still learning about Vacaville, just moved here a couple months ago from SoCal… ‘So exploring new things is always a plus.(BTW — ‘Pretty nice park…) Hana Sushi’s a small, unassuming, little restaurant that has been around for about 10 years according to «Sushi Joe,» one of Hana Sushi’s itamae who happened to be working this particular early, Wednesday evening. I took a seat @ the sushi bar, had the entire place to myself… ‘Perfect. Hailey(sp?) the host/waitress was great! ‘And perfect timing too… ‘Now, offering soju! Photo — Anyone that knows me, knows that I can pack away a decent about of sushi… ‘And today was one of those days.(Hell, most days are!) It’s how I stay in shape… Wha’?! «Round» is a shape! My order: Deep Fried Jalapénos($ 7.50) — ‘Very good; «Not your run-of-the-mill, Jack in the Box stuffed ‘pénos!» Uni — Okay; not as «fresh» as I had hoped BUT not overly old either Saba($ 3.95) — Okay; good flavor Spider’maki($ 7.95) — Okay Apple Soju($ 13.99) — Good; tasty At one point, Su’Joe reached over the bar and handed me a plate… Me: Mahalo Joe! ‘What’s this… Su’Joe: ‘Just try it… Me:(After eating one piece) Yellow tail? What do you call this… Su’Joe: Leftover pieces.(They literally were…) Me: AWESOME! «Leftovers»(Seared white tuna w/ponzu sauce) — Good; tasty «Joe’s Surprise» — Uni Baked Seaweed(Awesome!) I asked Su’Joe if he had any«Signature Rolls,» that were off-menu, his own creation…(Joe put his hand up in acknowledgement.) Guh’roovie! «Dizzy Roll» — Good; flavorful; huge The Bill(i.e. — Damage): $ 53(+ $ 10 tip) ‘Like many contemporary sushi bars, Hana Sushi has lots of «creative» roils drizzled with one sweet sauce or another… ‘Hence, no surprise @ the menu. However, there were a few menu items that stood out.(Yeh, of’ sure I’ll be coming back.) Sushi Joe — «Su’Joe,» made my first trip here a fun one. I’m used to fun/lively sushi bars, the clientele here seemed a bit on the«stuffy» side…(Shrugs) ‘Maybe it just happened to be @ that particular time and/or day. ‘Met a couple who sat to my left… ‘Shared a few laughs. I’m guessing it may have been their first date because the guy didn’t like the fact his lady friend was kept conversing with me… Yeh, he’s not insecure at all. ‘Have a sake bomb & fuh’get about it.(Sigh) Can’t a bruddah make friends with people at a sushi bar w/o some«Missing Link,“wanting to urinate on his date to show possession… If you can’t have fun, relax, & enjoy yourself as you are sitting the actual«sushi bar,» go sit at a table. ‘Lame.(‘Better yet, take it to-go!) F*k’tards, pardon my Japanese… The Apple Soju was good and in customary fashion, I shared it with Su’Joe. I really do appreciate that he partook in the sharing of libations… I’ve been to a couple sushi places where the itamae was prohibited from drinking with the patrons. What kinda sushi joint is that… ‘Not one that I’d return to. Soju, sushi & «Su’Joe!» The prefect recipe for good fun. Verdict: Okay… ‘But nevertheless, I had a good time.(Albeit a bit on the pricey side for what some may call«Glorified California Rolls.») The fish isn’t the best I’ve had but not the worst either. As I’ve written before, the food can be «okay,» but coupled w/great service, I’d definitely make a return visit. Now, contrary to that, a business could have amazing food coupled w/crappy service and forget about any repeat business. Hana Sushi falls into the former category. ‘Stick a yakitori skewer in me, I’m done… ‘See you next time Su’Joe & Hailey! — Big Aloha! Food: 3 Ambiance: 3+ Service: 5 Value: 3
